My favourite conspiracy theory is one I heard from a Romanian taxi driver, and it's got some genuinely cool lore. I might actually steal this for my next tabletop campaign. So the Planet Earth is a living being with a soul, and it is angry at humanity for polluting it. The Earth's spirit can also manifest through rocks, minerals, metals, etc. that were removed from it. And since electronics are made using metals and rare earth minerals, that means once we reach a certain level of AI development, the Earth will take over all electronic systems on the planet and start a robot uprising to exterminate humanity.

I'm Slovenian and in my hometown there's a barber who's a massive schizo conspiracy theorist. Everyone in town makes fun of her for it. One day a few years back i went in to get a haircut and for 3 hours (my haircuts usually only take around 20 minutes) she ranted about different conspiracy theories she had heard from some random woman on facebook and how this woman on facebook is going to save the world. The whole thing was pretty mind numbing so I don't remember most of the things she said but I did remember one theory she had. She said there is a massive underground pedo ring that most celebrities partake in. At the time I thought this was completely ridiculous but a few years later the Epstein list was revealed. Even though she was kinda right once, everything else she says is completely schizo

There is ancient Dacian bear attracting technology buried within the tunnels that calls bears to move into the area and brainwashes them to serve as protectors of the relics, and forbidden treasures. The bears affected by this also live longer, some even hundreds of years, and the older they get, the smarter they become. Some ancient guardian bears have achieved levels of wisdom thought only possible for an ancient alien Hungarian noble prize laureate.

It genuinely baffles me how many Romanian ultranationalists identify with our Dacian ancestors, but not with our Roman ones. Like we can easily trace our lineage to the empire that was actually victorious in the Dacian wars, built cities and roads, and gave us our language and our name (not to mention mămăligă and plăcinte), but no. While Western fascists ape the Roman aesthetic without even being 5% Italian, Romanian fascists identify with the illiterate drunkards who got their asses beat, and are now twisting themselves into pretzels to "prove" that the Romans were actually descended from the Dacians.

The name "conspiracy" was given a bad reputation in order to hide the real conspiracies. People who don't believe in any of them are usually naive and ignorant. There are proven ones that are pretty scary. It's interesting that even if you come with all the documents, photos, arguments you want in the world, only because it has the tag of "conspiracy" people won't believe you because they're brainwashed. We are Balkan brothers and sisters, but the western empires have been hard at work for many centuries to eradicate us, our histories and our cultures via indoctrination and trauma so we end up hating ourselves, our roots, and our neighbors (like they did in Ukraine on steroids for the last 20+ years, but really so much longer via the nazi ideology that was a british bastard baby invention). The brit "elites" are pros at narcissistic triangulation, to cause conflicts and start wars, and to get others to do their dirty bidding (exhibit Ukr again). If you need to hate something really evil, that's a good start there (british empire)! Lol Look at the mineral deposits in Serbia, and it all starts to make sense (it's always about resources). A balkan union would be a nightmare for the western mafia. Greetings from across the pond from a former Carpathian resident. P.S. Richard Poe and Matthew Ehret have books and blogs about what I mentioned above if you are curious to learn more.

Probably the most famous Bulgarian conspiracy aside from Baba Vanga is about the town of Tsarichina. There has been numerous films by the national televisions about it. Here is a short snippet from Wikipedia: "The town is known for its alleged paranormal activity. In the early 1990s, it was nicknamed "Bulgaria's Area 51"[2] due to the local "Tsarichina Hole". This hole was dug by the Ministry of Defence of Bulgaria, who excavated an area in the center of the village during a project active from 6 December 1990 to 19 November 1992. A group of psychics convinced some influential military members to start an excavation. As the secret "Operation Lightbeam" commenced, the psychics changed their opinion on what to find in Tsarichina several times. They were looking "for a creature - a "yellow-haired monkey", a "Biblical personage", a "hermaphrodite extraterrestrial that would disprove Darwin's theory of evolution and would reveal humanity's extraterrestrial origins", or the hidden treasure of Tsar Samuil. After digging a 160 metres (520 ft) long tunnel at a depth of 70 metres (230 ft) without finding anything for two years, the project was abandoned due to "financial concerns", and the hole was sealed with concrete. Allegedly, one psychic committed suicide during the excavation and one involved officer killed himself after the end of the project."

This was an amazing watch. Being from the other side of the world (The Philippines), it's always fascinating to see culture and beliefs from other countries manifest - not just by historical fact, but also by outlandish claims thru conspiracy. I just love that there's a belief that there's a real-life equivalent of The Dwemer Race from The Elder Scrolls Lore, and at any whiff or hint of being savvy, a savant or someone well known - it's Dacian Aliens From The Mountains. Best we got here is Tomoyuki Yamashita's gold - a cache of collected loot through Japanese conquest during WWII was hidden in the Sierra Madre mountains of east Philippines, left behind and is just waiting to be uncovered. Though debunked, many people believe that the Marcoses (the Philippine equivalent of Ceaucescu) managed to find the treasure, and hid it inside a Head Statue carved out of a mountain of Ferdinand Marcos at Northern Philippines. Eventually, to de-Marcosify the nation - blew up the head statue, and found nothing. People still believe the gold is still out there - and that the current President - amazingly the son of the dictator himself - Bong Bong Marcos, is said to still have the gold. But yeah, like all your videos from Eastern Europe - its always fascinating to look into the lives and culture from countries outside where you're from. Cheers!

About baba Vanga. My family had relations with her, mostly my grandparents. To be honest many people came to her because she was a great healer. She really did have some sort of supernatural abilities. There is a story my grandparents told me of an old person waiting in line (there was always a big line of people waiting to see her) and suddenly Vanga went out of her house and told the old person that she knew why he was here: She explained that he was here to ask her about his son, who was in hospital, if he will be okay. She told him that to go now and see him, because if he wasted more time, he wouldn't have the chance to share his last words to him. And later my grandma ( ahe was the one who saw this scene play out) learned that the old man managed to say goodbye to his own son. Vanga also helped my family a lot, mainly with cures for health issues and gave us a lot of good advice. From the stories I heard, people mainly went to her for advice and health related questions, rather than seeking predictions for the future. I know few more stories my grandparents and even my own parents told me that they actually saw. And the stories always made me question the world we lived in, just because of this one person named Vanga

@FromNothingICome 13 күн бұрын
@@Camel1453scio Modern Bulgaria perhaps. But those people, and their language, are very likely related to the people who lived there earlier. Like for example in the modern day we have a country called Turkey. But once upon a time a big chunk of that area was called the kingdom of Van. And prior to that, it was called Uratu. Yet many of the same people (ethnically speaking) have lived in that same area for millennia, with some obvious small genetic shifts / additions. Also, tho there was obviously a strong Hellenistic influence in that area for quite some time, there were other languages spoken in the region, especially when you go further back or forward... Anyway, modern Bulgaria isn't all that far from the Aforementioned Turkey. And back when Turkey was called "Uratu" they wrote in Cuneiform, and most definitely had connections to Assyrian culture. In fact Assyria swept through that whole area, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that was way before Greece... And we know Assyrian culture has plenty of parallels and connections with Sumer... As such, TBH I don't think it's as far fetched as you make it sound... and like I said, I feel like we're going to learn a lot more about the ancient history of this region, in the coming years... 🤷

As a Bulgarian whose mom is absolutely a conspiracy theorist, i get to hear a lot of these absolute insane ideas and one of my favourites is "Bulgars had celestial contact with a God from a far galaxy". I will try to explain the very basics of the conspiracy, but trust me there is so much more to this: The theory goes that Bulgars had direct contact with a God called "Богиня Майка" (Direct translation being "God Mother") whose most represented as a woman with notably defined honkers for some reason as well as a smooth curve at the top of her head. She supposedly came from a completely different galaxy and gave Bulgars the knowledge to create the most accurate calender and most accurate numeral system (see Bulgar Calendar and Cyrillic Numerals for context) as well as a variant of a whip that can smoothly cut through people like butter due to its ability to move faster than the speed of sound. This conspiracy is also tied towards the idea that an Ancient Egyptian king was buried in a mountain on Bulgarian land, as well as the idea that the Dulo clan created a crown capable of injecting racist snake poison (im not kidding) that kills you if you attempt to wear the crown and you're not from a specific lineage.

In Poland there is one conspiracy theory that's directly related to the balkans and it became somewhat popular in 2010s, but now somewhat died down: In our country there is a legend about three brothers: Lech, Czech i Rus. The legend is a somewhat symbolic of the Slavic nations and each "brother" is suppoused to represent one of them, but it's just that, a legend. Well... there are some people who believe that it's an actual retelling of true historical events. The legend was first written down in 1200s as a part of the "Polish-Hungarian Chronicle" and as such there are schizos who think that it tells the actual history of europe (even though it contradicts with other stuff written within the same book). They say that in ancient times predating even the first Polish kings Europe was split into three major empires that competed with the Romans: The Great Czechia that covered all of the western Europe from Germany to Spain, The Great Lechia that spanned from the Baltic sea to Egypt, and Russia(Yes, Russia, not "Great Russia", just Russia) which had pretty much the same borders as now. There are a lot of different "branches" of this theory with differing beliefs, some of them like the "Lechici" group are more akin to an actual cult than just a group of shizos talking to one another. The most wacky version of it that I've heard is that these three brothers weren't just ancient rulers of Europe, instead they were the actual first humans on earth - that the true location of bibilical garden of Eden is at the Odra river, and that "Adam Lech" is the actual Adam mentioned in the bible. So, this will be a fun one, I am from Stara Zagora, Bulgaria. Recently I learnt from one the gypsies at work about a local legend from the nearby village of Hrishteni, a legend about a multi-century old giant snake with legs and a long gray beard. According to the gypsies the snake is neutral in nature, working on a "fuck around and find out" basis, if you don't mess with it, it leaves you be, if you mess with it... well... one of 'em said that no matter where you try to run and hide, it will find you and you will die. Another gypsy in the group claimed to have lost a relative to the snake, also mentioned a semi-recent incident of a bulldozer found flipped in Hrishteni, they claim the dozer disturbed and angered the great snake so it tore one of the dozer's tracks off and flipped the thing without hurting the operator in it. The Gypsies description of the snake kind of matches that of a traditional Chinese dragon, being bearded, long, with legs, armored scales, nigh-invincible (they claimed someone shot at it with a shotgun and the pellets just bounced off) and being so big and heavy it could total a bulldozer. I never knew there was such a legend nearby and also had no idea how anyone can believe in something so ridiculous and illogical as a literal giant serpent, without any recorded evidence of it existing... in 2024... everyone has a good enough quality camera on their person at ALL times. Last time I checked, giant serpents are not subtle or easy to hide. That's about it really.

Tunnel theory exists in Northern Greece too. First time I heard it was when I was a tour guide in a cave, and a guy told me about "The other stuff, the ones we don't show to the tourists." When I asked for an explanation, I learned that Alexander the Great and his army had dug tunnels everywhere, below Macedonia, and they were popping up very fast wherever. Turns out, guy wasn't the only one believing it unfortunately, being "Common knowledge" around here 🙃

I remember there's a popular theory in Russia (not Balkans, but whatever) about the Metro-2, which was a series of secret metro branches running from the Kremlin to other parts of the Soviet Union (now, just Russia), built back when Stalin was Secretary General. There is truth to this theory, Metro 2 does exist, and functioned as an evacuation measure for the government in case Moscow was to be taken by the Nazis, or by the western powers. It apparently also lead to a series of bomb shelters and connected various strategic locations. A good chunk of the information is still classified, but some state that it leads to a whole underground city.

Some other conspiracy theories I've heard about in Romania: 1. Giant human-like skeletons (that were also radioactive, I think? Can't remember) found in some tunnels in the mountains, and the whole thing having been covered up by the Communist regime. (YT video about this is called: "URIAŞI de 10 metri descoperiţi în România | Tunelul secret unde au fost gasiti") 2. Underground tunnels built by the Dacians or aliens (idk what's up with us, Romanians, and tunnels. The Dacians must've been dwarves or something) beneath the black sea that links Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey. Apparently these ancient tunnels were used by animal hearders, in more recent time, in order to find better green pastures for their livestock to feed upon (doesn't make any f-ing sense), but they had to be careful when travelling said tunnels cause they could flood up very suddenly. It is said that one of the entrances of the tunnels is located in the old town part of the city of Constanta, which is the biggest city by the black sea, in Romania, and where I personally live. The entrance has been allegedly sealed off by the authorities by placing a giant slab of concrete on top of it so people can't enter anymore. 3. Oh, and Nikola Tesla is actually Romanian because we have a carpenting tool called 'Tesla' and I guess that's evidence enough. 4. Atlantis is at the bottom of the black sea. The black sea used to be a lake, until the great flood happened, and it became a sea, and Atlantis got swallowed by it.
