@mjs28s5 ай бұрын
@@razorr_o No. half track is 660' as the track is a 1/4 mile track but the top fuel FC and dragsters stop at the 1,000' timer. That said, 50mph gained in the last 340 feet and in done in 0.9 seconds means that the average acceleration over that last 0.9 seconds was to pick up another 73.3 ft/second of velocity in .9 seconds, which is 81.5 f/s or 55.6 mph which is still 2.55g's (average) of acceleration over that last 0.9 seconds. But the top speed is ultimately limited by the gear ratio and RPM limits set by the NHRA. Well, and tire technology.

I'm curious about something. In 2008 Top Fuel and Funny cars scaled back to 1000ft, in an effort to reduce the top speeds a bit following a fatal crash (and probably to save a little nitro which is ridiculously expensive).. Presumably every official speed measured since then has been at 1000ft.. But here's the thing. When they show the time slips on the app they use at Bradenton (from various other vids over the last couple days), it shows the time for 1000ft, and then just below it time and speed at 1/4 mile. So is this 341.68mph speed at 1000ft, or 1/4 mile? If the latter, then presumably anyone who just keeps their foot in it after the 1000ft, can keep pushing that top speed up this weekend. Or is the app just displaying the speed in the wrong place, and it's actually at 1000ft?

Damn! What a run!!! Good on ‘ya Bob, for making this incredible effort happen, and to allow thousands of NON DRAG-RACING people to witness this all-American effort, and to entertain the people! Keep in mind- just by doing this one pass, and shredding the MPH record, it cost his team a LOT of $$$! This single run cost more than half of American families make in a year! However, don’t hate the racer! This is hard-earned money and time. He (or she) has sacrificed their entire lives in order to further their own version of human exploration. Drag racers live life on the edge of human achievement. This is ‘normal’ to the adventurer. This is money that the team will not recover. Please, donate and/or attend NHRA races! I cannot count how many “non-race car drivers” are still addicted to the NHRA, decades after I introduced them to the sport. (I had access to passes etc, so I fed it to them in small doses. Kinda like a drug dealer, I guess. Except they’re now taking their own children to the races….!) Anyway- thanks Bob! Great pass!
