Having complaints absolutely does not equal ungratefulness. While there is always something to be grateful for, there is almost always something to give us grief. It's called life and sometimes we just get an overdose of aggravation. I've been with you guys for many years and I don't think I've ever known anymore more grateful than Jill.

Sounds like you underestimated the cleaning fee -the old owners were probably thrilled to get off so cheap. They should have paid 5 days rent plus a cleaning fee. I’ve paid for a cleaner prior to moving into a place, but still felt things weren’t perfect. Also moved into a new build with some builder messes in spots. The house looks beautiful-it will be a lovely home once you’re settled.

We lived for almost a yr without a hot water tank, although we did have a small hot water tank for kitchen & garage bathroom w shower. But if you wanted an actual bath, you had to heat water on stove, & by the time you got enough water to sit in, not even enough to cover your legs, it was lukewarm!

I have to say I didn't realize that the price of a new hot water tank had gone up so much. It is crazy. Have you looked into a portable or rv type hot water system. Amazon sells an electric one for about $125. With electric you don't have to worry about venting , you would need a hose from the tap to the unit and another hose to what you needed to fill like a tub. Not a perfect system but it would buy you time until you could afford the $1,000 plus for a new tank.

When we moved into an old house when I was 13, the oven was absolutely FILTHY! I actually wanted it to be my project to clean it. Mom was more than happy to oblige.😂Then one day the previous owner stopped by to see what all we had done to the house. I was the only one home, and happily showed her around. I was SO tempted to show her the inside of the oven, but I didn’t. I knew that wouldn’t have been polite and my mom would not have been pleased.

First of all, what does your being grateful have to do with scumbags leaving a filthy home? Industrial cleaning crews clean absolutely everything. It is not your everyday cleaning service. It is extremely expensive...usually $1,500 +....but they would find things you haven't even seen yet. Many people are not aware of them, a lot of contractors are aware of them. But may I say, those people should be ashamed of themselves. Leaving a dirty home shows exactly who they are.

Oh my gosh I feel for you Jill, when we sold our last house my husband thought I went overboard cleaning before the new owners took possession. But I couldn't imagine leaving behind my grime, also the people knew we were christians and I wanted to leave a good testimony.... unfortunately the man we bought from had neither conviction! Everything was filthy, they left behind souch junk in the shed we had no room for our things, and even left a rat infested couch on the patio that wasn't at the house before closing! Everyone deserves to move into a clean home. It definitely shows someone's true character how they leave a house.

Well, that just stinks! We moved three hours from home three years ago. When we saw this house it was fully furnished. The lady died and her daughters hadn’t cleaned it out. So. Our movers had to move her furniture to the one empty room before they could unload the truck. WHAT A DISASTER! I emptied one cabinet at a time onto the kitchen table. Found a box that said kitchen, unpacked it and then put her stuff in it. I will never move again!

Moving is extremely stressful. I moved recently and downsized to a much smaller place. I couldn’t believe how stressful it was. When you do a walk through you’re not opening every cabinet and drawer so you don’t know what it is until you move into it. I ended up having to live in my rv for an additional month because my new place needed a remodel it was so bad. But now I think this is the perfect place for me and it was all worth it. You’re going to have a beautiful place when it is done. Just take your time and try not to stress too much like I did.

Moving is very hard work, when you are tired, adjusting to a new place, with all your things still packed away, it can be very stressful and everyone has a breaking point. You just reached yours. I trust going forward things will be much better and you will love your new home. Thank God you also have such a good support from your family. God Bless you all. Big hugs : )

Those former owners need some education on maintenance and cleaning. Yikes! I wish I could have come over and helped you clean. So glad you’re on the other side of that.

I can promise you that here in Washington, DC...they DO deep clean. You just point it out to the crew and away they go! You may have to pay a bit more--but if you get a good crew you will not be sorry. They know that they are needed to do the Deep cleaning, otherwise all one would need is a one-person housekeeper for routine cleaning.

My new apartment is handicap accessible and I did not know what I was missing until I washed dishes with a sink that was 4 in shorter than the average and a shower that has an adjustable spicket so that way I can reach, if nothing else consider having the house converted to handicap accessible so that way everything that's too high up can be brought down to a usable level.... And I don't know about the laws in your city but here Medicare will pay for a certain accessible items so you might want to check that out.
