I'm not a farmer or homesteader, and I love all the animals that you share. I find it all fascinating, having been raised a city girl with all of our meat packaged up all neat and tidy in a grocery store. However, even I understand and deeply appreciate that when an animal is raised for the intent of providing food, that is that. Watching channels like yours has helped me to understand the tremendous amount of work, and love, that goes into owning and caring for livestock. We do own 5 acres of rural land. We raise bees there, just enough to help the local pollination (2-5 mile radius), and to have enough abundance to have honey and wax to share with our loved ones and neighbors. We share with our neighbors that live across the road from our property, as well as any dead fall that they want to collect for firewood which is how they heat their home in winter. They're good people that raise chickens for their own use - he's a firefighter too. Salt of the earth. We also welcome them to let their chickens free range on our property - hey, they eat grubs and ticks. I'm all for it. At Christmas, they gifted us one of their chickens that they slaughtered. Yes, it came all nice and clean and packaged. I thawed and roasted it on Sunday, and it was the best chicken that my husband and I have ever tasted. We ate two meals from it and then I cooked it all down overnight, pulled the bones and made a huge pot of chicken noodle soup last night, that we'll be eating from for 2 more days. That one chicken fed the two of us for 5 dinners. I've probably fed that chicken, as we often bring leftover salad ingredients/scraps out to the property for them. Will I ever been a homesteader? It's not likely, due to age, but I'll always love and appreciate what you and so many others do every day. Thank you for letting us into your lives to share your days. We love ya. God bless.

It always baffles my mind. It seems to be o k to buy meat from the grocery but raising you own to butcher is somehow wrong to some folks? I realize they don't understand homestead life as they've never been exposed to it except thru these videos. Kevin and Sarah said it all. This is a working farm.Great job you guys.

I've had full on adults not recognize veggies growing in the garden as in tomatoes and corn and pole beans. It was eye opening. Their faces the first time I pulled a hand full of greenbeans and cherry tomatoes off the vines and just popped into my mouth. Priceless. The but they aren't clean discussion was fun lol. After washing off in the hose they got to taste what fresh cherry tomatoes 🍅should be like. After that my one friend shook off the shock and now gardens more than me. 🤣 I do try to infect as many as I can with the gardening bug 😉😉🥰

But everyone of them will buy, cook and eat meat from the grocery store, McDonalds, or other fast food places! That is about as hypocritical as you can get!

@@andy38andrews96 it’s actually funny how many people think the stores create the meat/dairy. My 6 yr old names our beef calves every year…hamburger, steak, roast, etc. she knows what we raise is the food on our table.

I love and appreciate your channel. Thank you for teaching all of us about homesteading. It's not something I will ever be able to do personally, but I appreciate the farmers who do

Watching you guys with the pigs brought back so many memories! I grew up on a pig farm on a huge scale like around 2000 pigs and we would get babies that were chocolate Colours and reds and had spots and you bet you bottom dollar I fell in love with each of them! Dad doesn’t do breeding anymore he’s just a finisher barn now but wow this brought back everything haha 😂♥️

I am a city girl but my parents went deer hunting every fall, usually brought home 2 deer. We processed them ourselves to save money & to get all the meat possible from each animal. My job as a child was to wrap the meat in freezer paper & label it as it was cut. So I have always known where meat comes from & that an animal’s life had to be taken to provide it. Also my stepfather had had a small feed lot operation before he retired. He said that every batch of steers always had at least one that was friendlier & had more personality than usual & it was impossible for it not to become something of a pet. He said it was always hard to see that steer go on the big livestock truck to go to the processor & not feel sad. But that was his business & if he kept every steer that had become a pet he would have been out of business & overrun with pets in short order. If we’re going to eat meat (and I am a confirmed carnivore) we need to understand where that meat came from & that an animal’s life was taken. I appreciate that you raise your animals in such a way that they have a great life & hopefully they are slaughtered as humanely as possible so there is no suffering. That’s all you can ask. When my parents hunted, people would ask “How can you kill & eat Bambi?” Her answer was that at that time the deer herd in the area where they hunted (north of the Grand Canyon) was so large due to man having eliminated the natural predators that deer were starving to death by the hundreds every winter & damaging the forest by over browsing. Which was better for Bambi, a long slow death by starvation or a quick merciful bullet, which would also leave more food for the rest of the deer? Plus as she always said, Bambi tasted wonderful. While our livestock won’t die by starvation, much of the same thinking can apply.

My wife and I have watched Kevin and Sarah videos on You tube for almost four years now and we now know them moving into the area they live. They are outstanding people. It's real simple to us. They raise their food, plants and animals, to control what they eat. Period. If you don't like their videos, then don't watch them. We personally have liked every video. We learn a lot !

So love your way of life. We've raised our own pigs, rabbits, chickens and turkeys when we were younger and processed most ourselves. So I believe in the whole thing. Can't wait to see what is coming up for the new year!

It's unfortunate that when the public goes to the store they don't connect all those meat products they are buying had face's, Kevin and Sarah animals have been treated 100% better than any that end up at your grocery stores. We should all support the small independent farmers rather than the Mega farms that treat their animals very poorly and are living in absolutely terrible conditions.

Raising animals to eat is the best part. Yummy food. You keep up the good work. Pigs have a mind of there own.

So glad to see the animals today. I couldn’t do what you do but so glad that you are able to. I totally understand why you are raising animals for meat. You know exactly how they have been raised and have given them a very good life. The meat you buy at the store hasn’t been given such a wonderful life. Wish you lived close to me. I’d buy meat from your animals.

I am so proud of you both for your honesty and love of living life “traditionally”. Many are judge mental out of ignorance and no real knowledge of where their food is truly coming from. I, for one, would be honored to purchase my food from a farm such as your than from a store food chain where the animals Live such a meager existence and never really get to have a good life. Keep doing what you are doing and I love the smile at the end when you finally got the pig into the trailer. So adorable God bless.
