As someone with ADHD I have a really hard time focusing long enough to actually get my house clean, I usually start and then get distracted about 15 minutes in. I found this channel a couple of months ago and it has become my routine to come home every Friday after work, turn on one of your videos and clean my entire house. Having this going in the background while cleaning makes a world of difference in motivating me and keeping me on task and my house has never looked better.

I have ADHD as well, and while these videos are super motivating, I found the thing that helped me the most was the FlyLady program. It teaches you how to clean and maintain your home using small steps that build up over time. It's made a world of difference, and since it only requires 15 minutes of cleaning each day, my ADHD never has a chance to get bored and make me lose focus. :D
@jwood21753 жыл бұрын
It's called body doubling if you're interested in looking into it! It's a fabulous trick for people with ADHD for almost any task. Having someone "doing" the thing or even just "in" the room with you while you do a task you don't want to do is a great ADHD hack.

I don’t know if you have ever tried this, but... when I went through my closets and cleared out clothing, I would turn all of the hangers around, (so they hooked backwards) then as we wore clothing and it went through the laundry, I hang them up normal. The next time I went through the closet, anything that was on a hanger, still turned around, (wrong direction) automatically got taken out and donated, because it was never worn🤷🏻♀️... I LOVE that you hang up kids shirts rather than fold and put in a drawer... I did the same thing because I got sick of seeing my kids in the same shirt, because they just grabbed the shirt on top😂🤣

@@fairmaiden6472 That’s exactly it! There are a lot of us out there. We need to learn to master the acceptance of “not perfect, but good enough.” It takes a lot of work and forcing yourself, but it can be done. And the best part is that once you get there, then you’ll have more time to devote to random projects to make certain things or areas perfect on a rotating basis so you end up waaay closer to perfection than you’ve ever been. Great video!! Just to give you a heads up, Better Home & Gardens did an interview with a plumber about the ice cubes in the disposal hack and this is what was said, "Dawson also notes that using too many ice cubes could cause bigger issues. "With the amount of ice stuffed down the disposal in the video (a TikTok vital video), homeowners can simply be clogging their drain line, which results in the black water backing up into the sink," he says. The hot water step is another potentially problematic element of this cleaning method. You should only run your garbage disposal with the tap on cold, as hot water can break down oils and fats trapped in the drain and result in a clog."

When it’s time for the kids to get rid of old toys you ask each of them to give you 10 toys that they either don’t play with anymore or feel they can live without it. Big or small it doesn’t matter. And do this each weekend until they feel like they can’t find anything they can’t live without. What might happen is they will rediscover a toy that they forgot they had which is always the best when you are a kid.

Okay, I thought it was just me! I really admired it, too!! And I don’t remember noticing it before. But I wonder if I’d be able to actually get rid of my other stuff if I bought a pretty set or if I’d just end up with more utensils? It seems to be a sticking spot for me. I have things that my mother received when she was first married in 1950 that I never use, but I remember her stories around them and so they stay.
