Unbelievable, the difference between UK and China in terms of price and comfort. Japanese shinkansens are great but a LOT more expensive than the Chinese HSR. And I doubt they'll have the same luxurious business class with the same amenities.

In case you wonder Luke, HSR in China averagely reach 300km/h-350km/h, compare to that, in Japan is averagely 200km/h-320km/h, and much more expensive at the prices. Also Japan announced that they want to reach 360km/h in 2030, and China just tested out their 450km/h train and going to put it in lines in the next few years.

200? 260 on the shorter lines and up to 320 (and yes 360 in future) on the Tohoku Shinkansen. Japan has also tested a 603 km/h train, a world record, for service at 500 km/h, under construction. Their safety record is much better too

No such bullet trains in Britain? Ask Boris Johnson.
@grandwonder5858Ай бұрын
Is Boris the one that awarded the UK train project to Japan after it was initially awarded to China? What a nightmare every Japanese train project has been! The ones in India, Vietnam, Tanzania, Indonesia, and UK are still being delayed after a decade-long behind schedule or have been canceled due to Japan’s inability to build the projects at all even after nearly a decade of waiting by the host countries! I believe all of those projects, except the ones in India and the UK, are being built by China now! China finished building the speed train project for Indonesia a couple years ago even though the project was started later than the projects in India and the UK! Now Indonesia is extending the train project to other parts of the country thanks to China’s quick and high quality works that are always on time or ahead of schedule!

He accompanies you to the gate likely because he has to let you guys in the elevator. That's what happened when we went to China last year. My mom was on a wheelchair because she couldn't walk too much too far, so we had to let the train station know in advance about bringing a wheelchair. They had to unlock the elevator for us, and when we arrived at our destination, they helped us off, sent us all the way to the area to get on our Didi. Very lovely people.

I live in San Francisco, California and our public transportations such as the Muni (bus) and Bart (metro) are subsidized as well but it’s not only expensive but dirty and not very safe. For example, it’s cost me over $12 USD from the city to SFO (San Francisco International airport). I think most public transportations are subsidized worldwide, not just China.
@TeochewtuahangАй бұрын
Not necessary subsidised by government. Remember there are alot of restaurants shop in train stations just like airport. Train company just collect rents from shops and then use it to offset the cost of the ticket. Otherwise it is called transport centric urban development.

The Chinese Government declared that their HSR is profitable a few months ago, which when you consider the astronomical investment of building the system is really impressive. (And they've not finished yet!)
@GC-bm8nlАй бұрын
@@rogerstarkey5390 Only a few east coast HSR routes are profitable. The overextension of the HSR is a costly, hampered by debt and passenger trains are highly subsidised. A benefit of building HSR was allowing freight trains to travel with greater loads on the older conventional lines and these are far more profitable.
@DJs021Ай бұрын
@@GC-bm8nlactually it is not that bad, overall China HSR is losing 30mil/monthly but their foreign investment return profit is around 100-600bil/annually hence the Gov can absorb all of this. They even planned ahead rail expansion until 2030 with every city connected. Unlike all other country, most rail and transportation is privatized, they prioritize profit over conveniences.
