Seeing Liza Minnelli Live Concert in 1974, was one of the best things that ever happened to me :) Her vocals, performing abilities, & amazing stage-personality, just had so much joyful energy, & it helped me a lot to know there was someone in the world like her. 😂 Not much else ever compared to it. I was 17. :)

Fun fact: the role of Fraulein Schneider was written with Lotte Lenya in mind, and she didn’t have much of a bosom, so they changed the lyrics for her.

At the very end of this performance you can clearly hear her mother in her voice. So beautiful and absolutely riveting. Love you Liza! You have and always be a sense of inspiration for everyone in the the arts community. Yes Queen!!

This show was my very first experience of seeing Liza perform and it's an experience I'll never forget. I never knew that a single performer could be so exciting, so captivating, so heart-stoppingly wonderful! So gosh-darn TALENTED! She was, and is, a marvel! I've now watched this concert 100+ times and I am never, ever less than thrilled each and every time. I simply adore Liza Minnelli 🎼🎭💕🏳️🌈♥️

She is in no way a contralto.... Stop spreading this misinformation everywhere. She is quite simply a smoker voice here.... In no way a contralto... If you seriously think she's a contralto then a) you know nothing about Liza's voice or her discography b) you should study on what actual contraltos sound like - Moms Mabley, Zarah Leander, Pearl Bailey, Nina Simone, Alecia B. Anderson to name a few.

@@KajiVocals um no. You're mistaken. Do you have any idea who her mother is? The famous Judy Garland, a Contralto. I know Liza's voice. Her CHEST VOICE IS HUGE, DID YOU NOT HEAR HER BELT OUT NEW YORK NEW NEW YORK AT THE TOP OF HER LUNGS when Liza was in her prime? She sounds a lot like her mother before her but darker. Her sister Lorna however is a mezzo soprano. You are the one who needs to do their research. www.divasfordays.com/post/the-hidden-legacy-of-judy-garland-s-recording-career

@@arxsyn Judy was a mezzo.... In no world is Judy a contralto. If Judy is a contralto then the singers I mentioned are basses... I've studied Judy's voice for years and calling it a 'contralto' voice is just wrong. Go listen to some classical mezzo-sopranos and then we'll talk. Elena Obraztsova, Oralia Dominguez, Fedora Barbieri. All of them have voices both darker and bigger than Judy's. More 'masculine' than hers as well. Lower tessitura (except Elena who was a high mezzo-soprano). You are misusing the facher terminology. I've seen you call many of mezzos and even SOPRANOS contraltos before and it is just sad. As I said familiarise yourself with how voices in opera are classified and I'd also recommend studying vocal acoustics. If you study how formants and harmonics are set up you will know why I say that there is no way Judy is a contralto.

You are simply prejudiced to what you think a Contralto should sound, counter to what they are in reality or when you encounter them you simply deny their existence. That's just sad.

@@KajiVocals Elena is, was, always has been contralto. Her voice turned androgynous when she got older. And she always had the ability to sing down to C3 even in her younger years singing "mezzo soprano". A Contralto is NOT DEFINED BY ANDROGYNOUS Tone. It is the unbroken, low chest register from D3 that reaches up to G4 (nearly A FULL OCTAVE) similar to the male tenor that defines the Contralto singing voice. If she so chooses to, well a Contralto can sing like a man, but not necessarily sound exactly like one. The Contralto is still a higher voice type compared to men's voices. In comparison, higher voice types sing in mixed voice. The Contralto sings mostly in pure chest tones similar to males

when i was a kid this song reminded me of my grandparents, who were kids in the depression and young adults during hte war. Now, i'm a young adult who graduated into economic depression and i will never achieve the wealth my boomer parents enjoyed, and I have come to personally relate to this song, and this wonderful performance.

I wished that Liza did a version of Cabaret where she played Fraulein Schneider when she was still able. Now Bebe Neuwirth is doing the role.

I love this song.. I saw Liza Minnelli in person in Columbus Ohio... Told my dad that I wanted to see LIZA because that's as close as I'm going to get to Judy Garland in this lifetime... Yes Liza is like her mom but she's a lot more upbeat I😊 absolutely adore Judy Garland, but darling was with other torch singer like Edith Piaf and Billie Holiday and Helen Morgan... Liza's in a class all by herself .. and this song is so upbeat and realistic; I love it...makes me feel great 😅
