Honestly, it was exactly what I expected, minus horned ones (didn't see that coming at all). Lizardmen and Skaven DLC with a clan pestilence and prophet of Sotek theme will likely come out later, with the following for lizardmen. Prophet of Sotek, Salamander and maybe razordon, Blessing of Sotek Skinks, Ark of Sotek, Bastilodon, Snake jungle swarms and Ripperdactyls, possibly a Troglodon.

From CA, on the forum, in regards of the ferals CA_Ato 7:13PM The feral beasts were a no-brainer from a cost standpoint and do add a lot tactically and to progression. They are also super cute, slamming Elves left and right with their little wiggly tails. We fought hard to get this much into this roster. Keeping units back for DLC is not how we go at this. It's a very tough negotiation between everyone involved (design, art, marketing etc.), then we shuffle stuff around a lot until the work and the deadlines match the people we've got. Then we add a bit more stuff, 'cause we love a challenge and everyone is like "you can't leave that guy out, he's everyone's favourite". If we were to ever run out of cool content for DLC, we’d invent units or go way back to old armybooks and rare references. There will always be more Warhammer than we can possibly do! First of. I think it's a fantastic idea. I have no complaints. Secondly - +Gianni Pinotto Even though I would LOVE to see Dread Saurian in the game, I highly doubt we will ever get them as a unit you can recruit several of. The only way I can see a Dread Saurian in the game is from a Regiment of Renown DLC that lets you recruit ONE SINGLE Dread Saurian and no more. I'm basing my assumption on the giant size of a Dread Saurian and the potential carnage a single one can cause. And of course since it doesn't have a TT model made by Games Workshop themselves.

I hope that the Engine of the Gods will be a free-lc unit just like the Blood Knights in case it doesn't make it during release. Speaking of free-lc units, I hope there will be more of them than in the first game.

There will be a lot of free DLC stuff for sure, the Old world's Free-DLC wasn't that bad to be honest. I just can't wait until we'll see some amazing unite models/animations/textures ... Hopefully they'll add heroes later on.

Rampaging, out of control units were done in Rome 2 and Attila so I'm not surprised to see them implemented in Warhammer. I imagine it will work exactly like how rampaging elephants and berserkers do in those previous Total War titles.

+DahvPlays I found it hilarious when he said that people who aren't familiar with Warhammer Fantasy Lizardmen will have problems with that mechanic. The ones who will have a tough time with it IS the players who has Total War: Warhammer as their first Total War game, as every Total War player is not only familiar with the mechanic but also actually used to it and know how to work with it.

Remember there is the Skink Oracle. They ride the Troglodon. So CA might turn the Skink Oracle into a Skink Lord. And it makes sense. If the Prophet of Sotek is the planned DLC for the Lizardmen, a prophet will need oracles to assist him in fulfilling the prophecy of Sotek.

I was really happy with the roster as I was expecting the ark of sotek , trolodon, ripperdactyles, not to be in the game. Slightly surprised we didn't get one of the hunting packs with another available for DLC.

If they remove the Horned Ones as mounts for the Saurus, I doubt they would add them as mounts for the Skinks. It would probably just be a subtraction of content at that point. They have said though that gameplay comes before lore, so I don't think they'll do it.

If I'm being totally honest, I do like that Sauros ride the horned ones. Their strength and would go further in the taming of such savage creatures would they not? Also, I do very much like that CA is taking liberties with lore, such as in bretonnias case. They are doing great work keeping the old world alive in spite of GW killing it. Them taking liberties also gives me hope for one day a terico based Estalia and Borgia esque Tilea. Great video overall, I just disagree a little on that topic. Also, is say for true lure purists I just wouldn't field any horned ones except on skink Chiefs.

I wonder: will skink heroes have an aura effect that prevents units from rampaging if they are within it? Would that be TT-friendly? Aw man, I was hoping that the Horned Ones were like a better version of the Cold Ones, and maybe we could get a Horned One Riders, basically like Temple Guard cavalry. And I was hoping to see a "Sword" and shield variant of the Temple Guard, just because I wanted to get bodyguard that could be good for my lord who runs into melee. And I'm hoping that only Tehenhauin's faction gets the Red Crested Skinks, who should be a overall better version of the regular skinks. They should really be a unit that, where as you not worry too much about a unit or two of regular Skinks, you can't underestimate the Red Crested Skinks. They should be able to tear army's flank apart if it's left unguarded.

Feral dinosaurs (and every other monster for that matter) were available through the Storm of Magic supplement, I'm not really sure why CA didn't simply evoke this supplement. The idea is that casters create magical contracts with wild beasts to control them. The Slann are even particularily good at mind controlling wild animals, a feat they use to defend their cities against the thunder lizards which are too big to fight conventionally. It makes perfect sense for you to lose control over the dinos as the battle progresses as that was ore or less what happened in the supplement IIRC. It would make most sense if you needed at least one caster in your army to control them, but a Lizardmen army without a caster is hardly even a Lizardmen army.

Cold blood healing is only for heros, Revivification Crystal is a single unit ability, also losing control of a berserk unit is a thing in total war since 2004, both rome total war and rome 2 had germanic berserkers who lose control in battle, and vast majority of knights in medieval 2 total war have might charge without order trait. Attila also had godan's chosen and Scatha's teachers who go berserker, the good thing about going berserker though is that units never tire.

the salamanders might be a bit complicated for the game since in tabletop the skinks have to interact and there's a chance that the salamanders will kill them, a feral version would actually be perfect for the salamanders

I'm okay with Kroq'gar getting to ride a horned one, as long as he's the only Saurus to do so, willing to make an exception for him cause he's Kroq'gar, I do however want to see Skink Horned One riders, hopefully Salamanders and Razordons, ark of sotek, engine of the gods and even Troglodons will be in along with Tehenhauin in "The Prophet and the Plaguelord" type DLC they have planned, in fact I can almost guarantee that is what the dlc will likely be called if lord skrolk isn't in the base game.

I like most of the things so far. I also agree with the critique in regards to the Horned Ones. A Horned One as mount for the Skink Chief would be very nice in my opinion. Salamanders would have been great, but i really hope that we will see them as part of a DLC. Otherwise you will have a riot on your hand CA. You have been warned. In regards to the Cold One mechanic, maybe CA also did some research on real dinosaur's who lived on this planet once. Scientists found out, that dinosaur could heal from wounds which would have definitely killed any mammal. So maybe the idea for the Cold One mechanic was inspired from this direction? Who knows. But in the end, although i'm quite the lore purist too, i think the idea fits fantasy dinosaurs quite well. Can't wait to play the Lizardmen and eradicate any god damn Skaven i can get my hands on!

Look. CA. Makings battles longer is a solved problem. The Modders fixed it. Just get rid of the oversized "Army losses" and do something to slow down melee grinds so that artillery, cavalry and mages have more chances to fire/circle charge/squeeze out more reserve winds of magic. (gods, but "extra reserve winds of magic" is a shitty trait...) You can think up your own way to slow down melee, and you didn't even have this Army Losses effect in your earlier total wars. Just delete the code, burn the related development notes, and never speak of it again. And Cold blooded? Just do what it says on the tin: slow down morale loss for Lizardmen units. NOBODY WANTED YOU TO GIVE DINOSAURS THE ABILITY TO "SANDVICH!!!!"
