I’m 68, and separated from my husband a year ago after a nightmare couple of years after caring for my beloved Mum until she died in October 2021 (caring for her was anything but a nightmare, it was a privilege!) then it took a year to sell our house, which was incredibly stressful. I’m now a single woman, something I really hadn’t expected at my stage of life, but I’m so much happier now. Life doesn’t stop when you reach a certain age so never think age is a barrier to happiness, fitness or anything else you want to achieve. I don’t feel 68 (too close to 70 for comfort!) In my head, I’m the same person I always was. Sorry for the essay!! Thank you for sharing your story Liz 🙏💕 Onwards and upwards 🎉

I turned 70 last August. I cycle, walk, swim and do yoga. I live in a rented flat in Sicily, having left my husband and house in England as soon as I retired at age 64. For the last 3 years I have had a boyfriend 9 years younger than me. He lives 1000 miles from me, and we spend a week together every now and then. I wakewith a smile every morning

Thank you for your story. Confirms that I will never marry a woman. No hate. Just the way the world is now. We don't need eachother. I hope men more learn this so they don't enter marriage. It is a new age and women's social media has helped me understand how different we are. Wishing you all the best.

We need to change the conversation around ageing as there is so much fear, we feel the same inside but feel judged by getting older, we shouldn't, if we are healthy and we can move without pain, we have everything and are so lucky. So many young people and children suffer from cancer etc and it takes away so much from them. Getting older and being here being able to do what we wish when we want is an absolute gift ❤

I’m the same age as you Liz. I too feel great. I’m fit - I walk 60+ miles a week and do strength training. Health and fitness have been my number one priority since my 20s. The one way I completely differ to you is my view on relationships. I’m a widow and can’t think of anything worse than being in another relationship!

I also turned 60 last year in July and had a wonderful river cruise to celebrate, along with a party, with my 4th husband!...but I didn't and don't feel any difference. Age is just a number and I still don't think about my age. I feel that that i'm still in my 30/40's to be honest as I'm reasonably fit and healthy and on HRT patches, which have helped me. Ageing is all in the mind and other minds. I've still an issue with Roseacea on my face, which my Mum also has. Mum is 81 and still drives, does all the gardening, including cutting the grass on 2 massive lawns, on the rowing machine for 200 metres every morning, making curtains. Keeping active is the way to feel young xxx

It's true regarding age I've turned 69 today and feel a lot younger so age is a number to me as everyone keeps reminding me.I still have good health and fantastic husband, unfortunately we lost our son of 23 who was an only child who would have turned 44 this year but hayho life has to go on,divorce is also a traumatic time and have to learn to live on your own.Thank you Liz you have helped me and I'm sure others through their problems.😊

Would be great if you could find an expert to discuss what women can do to keep financially afloat after late divorces and unemployment. We cannot get out pensions at 60 now 66 but no one wants to employ us either. Its a real struggle for so many women who were not able to get a sucessful career , we didnt know we had to in our generation. It is affecting wellbeing and welness.

Hi everyone. I will be 59 this year and genuinely, my age does not bother me one jot! I love being older, feel so much happier and less worried by what others may think of me. I definitely try to prioritise healthy -ish habits ( for some of the time). I don’t think there has ever been a better time for women to be this age or older. I would highly recommend trying to include some sort of physical excersise whether you are keen to sign up for an Iron Woman competition ( not me!), or maybe try some chair yoga ? For me walking just lifts my spirits, gets the lymph moving , improves breathing and makes the World feel better. 🌞

Hi Liz i use to watch you on QVC when you had your liz earle skincare line. Think you were one of the first women i heard who spoke about natural clean products in skin care instead of chemicals. I liked your ethos back then and adopted. Now in my 40s the perimenopause wave started and I came across your vidoes on the subject binge watched most of them. Again you were the first person I learnt from about perimenapause and menopause. Im looking forward to your book. Like you say 60s isnt talked about online. You are definatly ahead of the curve when it comes to womens topics. Thank you so much love from scotland xx

Very interesting to hear your thoughts. I’m 63 and recently changed jobs. A scary prospect having been in my previous job 7 years but I went for it. Every day is an adventure as I get better at the job and the learning curve was steep! I was nervous but could draw from many decades of life experience so took deep breaths and dived in. Interestingly my aunt is 98 and feels about 40, it’s only her knees that occasionally have wobbly moments. She is my inspiration. I chose not to celebrate my birthday any differently as I have never liked partying. The worst age for me mentally was turning 30,I really didn’t want to not be in my twenties! After that I decided to just live in the moment. Well done for speaking out about age 👍🏻

Age is NOT just a number. I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer at 60, stage 1. Made a full recovery but I like you look young for my age but was actually very ill. We need to be mindful of our health as we age and be our own best advocate. If I had ignored the symptoms I would not have been so fortunate. People need to get over aging, it sure beats the alternative.

Thank you for your female insights. I will never marry a woman unless she has the same wealth as myself. I hope more men get to hear of this content so they don't marry in the first place. Its just a different world we live in now. We don't need each other now. Wishing you girls all the best. Hope men learn that you don't need us for their betterment. This is not a hate message. Its an awakening for myself.

I’m turning 60 this year and I don’t look it , I look 45 and I don’t relate to it .I was really unhappy when I turned 50 , think it was how society would pre-sieve me , but strangely I’m not worried about 60 .May be because nothing changed when I turned 50 , so I think nothing will change when I hit 60 . I’m keeping up the good work , down the gym most days , eating well , the list goes on .The menopause was more the mental side , rather than night sweats etc .i was worried my other half wouldn’t think I was sexy enough any more , I was unloveable, I still think that way now , it’s hard work .i talk about the menopause, but I still feel embarrassed 😳, the stigma doesn’t go away .i hope my daughters don’t go through the hell iv been through .My partner is a different generation and he struggles to talk about it , so I get zero support .😢

I’ll be reaching state pension age later this year - how did that happen?! I’ve always looked younger than my years & don’t think I look mid 60’s but since just before turning 60 my health took a bit of a downturn with knee, leg & back issues. All blood tests etc normal which is good (maybe not optimal but doctors don’t even seem to consider that) but the subtle suggestion that it’s all in the mind has made me feel quite dismissed and then you start questioning yourself. I know I probably took my health for granted so my message to younger people is don’t! I wish I’d known things I know now 10-15 years ago as I would almost certainly be a lot healthier & happier but that’s life I guess! In terms of having “big” birthdays the only one that ever bothered me was turning 30. Something about leaving my 20’s behind I suppose! Though the thought of 70 fills me with horror!!
