Roman Catholics believe the bible......until you show them James 1:1 and compare James 2 with Revelation 14:9-12 which proves that James 2 DOES teach faith and work, but NOT for the body of Christ. This is because in the tribulation you must avoid the mark of the beast to be saved. But Paul very clearly teaches works are separated from salvation atleast for the church. Romans 4 4Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. 5But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Extremely clear, but I realize you Catholics have heard James 2 so much you don't even get this passage. Such as? Are you interesting in feeling right or being right, because in scripture one will always be right, and that is an assured path away from Catholicism.
@iamintheroad43111 ай бұрын
@@markmeyer4532 Claiming that in scripture one will “always be right” is an extremely relativist point of view. Any individual can just go and open up their Bible and interpret it their own way and then it’s “their truth” that they concluded through their own personal divine revelation or whatever- which rarely line up between each individual Christian. This is the reason church denominations continue to branch and break away from each other and nobody can agree on the truths of their faith- it’s every man for himself. The Catholic Church has set universal beliefs and views on scripture that haven’t changed since the beginning, so I trust it. That is not to say that we shouldn’t be praying and meditating privately on scripture by ourselves and ponder what puzzles us- we should! But having a solid source of information to go back to when confused is detrimental. We live in a time so far away from early church times and the last thing we should be doing is relying on the modern and ever-changing scriptural views of our day and age. They don’t and can’t hold water and it all becomes so skewed. And that breeds blind belief that leads to empty faith. Our psychotic generation is NOT as “woke” as we think we are, but I’m pretty sure the church fathers taught under Jesus knew a thing or two.

@ronaller52094 жыл бұрын
Revelation 12:1 The Woman-- “Great Sign appeared in Heaven” This is a clear “marker” given in the text to tell us that what John sees is a “SIGN”. Note that he does NOT say that what he saw was “like” a pregnant woman ready to go into labor. He DOES SAY that he sees a pregnant woman ready to give birth to a male child - AND ALL THIS IS A “GREAT SIGN”. So, the meaning of the SIGN is given in the DESCRIPTIONS of the woman and the male child. Her Identity and Description . Clothed with the sun Moon under her feet Garland of twelve stars on her head Pregnant and ready to go into Labor This description is clearly a reference to Joseph’s dream - described in Genesis 37:9-10. In the Dream Jacob is the Sun (Father of the Nation of Israel - “Israel” is Jacob’s YHWH-GIVEN NAME - see Gen. 32:28), Rachel is the “Moon” (Mother of the Key Members of the 12 Sons of Jacob - Joseph and Benjamin), and the Twelve Stars are the 12 Sons of Jacob (who are the 12 Tribes of Israel). SO, the WOMAN with CHILD is ISRAEL Her Activity -- Giving Birth to a Male Child (this indicates that the woman is ISRAEL - and this is further clarified in the description of her male child AND by the description of the Red Dragon ‘hovering over her’ while she is giving birth to her male child. Male Child was to “rule all nations with a rod of iron” (this clearly clarifies that the ‘male child” is Christ). Her male child was “caught up to God & to His throne” (this further clarifies that the male child is Jesus, The Christ. There is no need to look any further. THIS IS CLEARLY DESCRIBING JESUS, THE CHRIST and His ASCENSION back to Heaven to His Father’s Right Hand AFTER His death and resurrection and post-resurrection ministry.) Woman then ‘fled into the wilderness” - (In His Olivet Discourse Jesus spoke of those “elect ones” on the earth who see the “abomination of desolation” should FLEE - IMMEDIATELY because of the PERSECUTION of the BEAST that is coming DRAMATICALLY FAST AND FURIOUS!! This then further fills out our understanding of the need for the JEWS alive during the Tribulation Period to flee for safety from the persecution of the DRAGON at the Mid-POINT of the Tribulation Period). To a place prepared by God that they should feed her there for 1260 days! (These three phrases taken together help us UNDERSTAND a unique piece of biblical teaching about the fate of the JEWS during the TRIBULATION PERIOD. (SEE ALSO REVELATION 12:14 in this context.) Those who obey and observe Jesus’ warning to them in the Olivet Discourse can flee to ‘the wilderness’ to a ‘place prepared by God’ and apparently YHWH will see to it that they are PROTECTED AND PROVIDED WITH FOOD for the last half of the TRIBULATION PERIOD - 1260 days.

@alray sir when you allegorize scripture you can make it say anything you want it too and you do.
@ronaller52094 жыл бұрын
@alray Once again you are allegorizing the Scriptures..take the time to grasp the information on this short survey below and then we can continue our discussion on this thread. There are basically two primary approaches to “Hermeneutics” - The Literal (grammatical, historical, contextual) Hermeneutic and The Allegorical (nonliteral, ‘spiritualized’, fanciful, unconcerned about ‘understanding’ authorial intent or context) Hermeneutic. The Allegorical method presumes (very wrongly) that the meaning of the text is NOT IN the WORDS of the text BUT is BEHIND the Words of the text. In other words, for ‘allegorists’ the “meaning” is NOT determined by what is written but by what the interpreter “sees” or “thinks” when he/she reads the words. For those who ‘believe in’ the Allegorical method, one person’s interpretation is as valid as another person’s interpretation - even if they are mutually exclusive or contradictory. THUS, for those holding to the Allegorical method, the BIBLE is NOT GOD’S WORD - given by GOD as HIS MESSAGE TO HUMANKIND. If the BIBLE can legitimately mean different things to different people - then the BIBLE has no meaning in and of itself. IT IS NOT THE WORD OF GOD it is actually the word of whomever the interpreter happens to be. It is UTTERLY PREPOSTEROUS and yet the vast majority of people - even those who say they believe the BIBLE is the WORD OF GOD - use the ‘Allegorical method’ in their biblical interpretation.

Excellent video as always. You are a joy to watch. One little thing that can confuse people, in the 60s and 70s there was a “rhythm method” movement regarding sexual abstinence which was pretty unreliable. For the past 40 years what Catholic couples learn is Natural Family Planning, which is firmly biology and science based and very healthy and effective. It puts a woman firmly in touch with her fertility and more attuned to her health. The funny thing is, if you have a really good fertility doctor helping you to get pregnant naturally and without the issues inherent in IVF, that doctor will actually teach NFP. You can recognize your fertile period coming up to 2 or 3 days earlier than the expensive ovulation kits. I was told by multiple doctors that we couldn’t have children but I followed my NFP soooo closely. I believed devoutly I was called to be a mom. Now my miracle kid is 21 years old. 🙂 God bless you Liz. Keep the light in your heart, and store up your gifts against those dark nights of the soul that almost all of us share.

I haven’t finished the video yet, but I already know I’ll be saving it for reference for any discussions with my Protestant friends. I know that so many of these verses that were confusing to me while I was Protestant suddenly made sense when I made my journey into the Catholic Church. I had read the whole Bible (minus the deuterocanon) through at least twice before I even considered Catholicism. I remember as a teenager asking a Catholic friend about confession, and she referenced that passage from John. I was like “that’s in the Bible?” But somehow brushed it off and didn’t convert until 10+ years later. It was definitely the Holy Spirit opening my eyes to truly understand these passages and bring me into the Catholic Church. Thanks be to God 🙏🏻

I recommend to explore Orthodoxy. Protestantism was invented to correct mistakes of the Roman Catholic Church, but unfortunately ended up creating even more mistakes. The Roman Catholic Church broke off from the original Church in 11th century, that's when mistakes began to accumulate. The Orthodox Church (which is called so because it is the original Church) preserved the faith without mistakes.

@@galaxyrider9599 thanks I’ll check it out. As an update to my comment, the more I read and listen the more uncomfortable I feel about all of the so-called traditions, practices, and frankly non-Biblically based doctrine. I’m left pretty confused now. My focus is on following the Bible without additions but haven’t found Non Denominational churches that fulfilling..
@galaxyrider95992 жыл бұрын
@J.T. The Bible itself is a product of the original Church. Think about that for a start. It was the councils of the original Church who decided what books of the New Testament the Bible would include. There are A LOT of other books, including other gospels, so why do you read what the Orthodox tradition chooses, and not any other books? If you accept the Orthodox Bible why don't you accept other things that were decided on the councils? The very first council is mentioned in the Bible, so having councils is an Apostolic tradition. The problems many Protestans have with Orthodoxy is rooted in their wrong understanding of the Orthogox faith. I spoke to many protestants and most of them had "a pagan mind", they couldn't grasp spiritual ideas that are above materialistic views. Like the Mysteries, like the presence of the Holy Spirit, like sacredness of things that belong to God, etc. I have another question for you. You are saying you follow the Scripture. The Scripture says: "Is anyone sick among you? let him call for the presbyters of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord". Do you practice that? Also: "Confess your sins to each other". Do you practice that?

(Not a Catholic, but this helped) ---> To add onto the point of the Queen Mother at 27:23, I was hoping you'd link it with another scripture, which was a HUGE shock for me too. The other scripture is Psalm 45:9. The entire Psalm is amazing, and speaks of Jesus, but I literally stumbled across that randomly within a protestant study bible, and they HAD to link those two scriptures together in order to make sense of the Psalm, and low-and-behold it makes the status of Mary make much more sense.

Angel Valentin Mojica it actually does not. Faith in Christ is the root of salvation. That is agreed in Ephesians 2 and romans 3 and all throughout the gospels. The fruit which is the outward representation, because you cannot see the root in the ground, is the works of the spirit. It does not contradict our view at all. The Ark held four things all pointing to Christ, a typological foreshadowing: the commandments on stone, the Torah (the Word of God), a piece of uncorrupted Mana (the Bread of Life, John 6) and Aaron's rod, the High Priest (Hebrews, etc...) The vision of the Ark immediately shifts to the crowned woman ( not the cleaning lady) who gives birth to Jesus/ruler with rod of iron. Is it any wonder that the 2nd century Early Church Fathers called the BVM " the new ark of the New Covenant"?

In order to hold that the woman is just a metaphor for Israel, you'd have to explain why she flees to Egypt after the arrival of the Messiah. Did that happen? No, but the Holy Family did flee to Egypt to avoid Herod's Massacre of the Innocents. If you claim she is the church, you'd have to hold that the church gave rise to (i.e. brought about through it's own labor) the Messiah. That's exactly backward...diabolically disoriented, even. The woman is obviously Mary. Though you're not wrong to think she represents the church, because she does. She is the first faithful Christian, the perfect example of humility and all of the virtues that mark the faithful life of a Christian. She is mother to all of Jesus' redeemed co-heirs

1) If you forgive the sins of any. How do you get priest out of the word "you"? 2) how did you get bones or relic out of the shadow of a living man. The hanckerchiefs touched an anointed man of GOD. The hanker chiefs were not the power, the man using the word of Christ was and that was imparted into cloth even before they touched him. The power is in GOD's word not relics that is not the focus of the true power of GOD. 3) The NT oral teachings came from Jesus, he broke the traditions of the Jews. Jesus had no idea what a catholic was?4) In the spiritual, Gods flesh and blood, not the physical we do not practice cannabilsim. 5) "clearly seems" cant be used in the same sentence. Tell me why Mary is the mother to all Christians when that verse does not say anything of the sort? If you read all of Rev 12 its about the dragon(satan) wanting to devour everything cause Christ has entered the world its not about mary its about Jesus who as come. 4 Its tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that it might devour her child the moment he was born. 5 She gave birth to a son, a male child, who “will rule all the nations with an iron scepter.”[a] And her child was snatched up to God and to his throne. 6) Jesus was asking for his mother to be cared for, not this is the mother of Heaven? Your bias and addition to the Scriptures is unbelievable. 7) Jesus broke praying for the dead as the Jews practiced. hes says, let the dead bury the dead. If you die without Jesus there is no point praying for them they are not with Christ. 8)Jesus is saying can faith save you without works. There is a lot to this topic as Catholics confuse works with getting themselves into heaven. Jesus is meaning you may have faith but without living my word in work from a transformed heart aka helping the poor,preaching his word to others you are merely only acting in your own faith without aiding the kingdom by your time and hard work to save other souls. On the same note works cannot save you so you don't work to be saved you do works as you have a transformed heart to aid in the great commission. James 2:14 explains what I just wrote you can console someone with lip service but your actions did not show kindness and the love of Christ by actually feeding them. Jesus wants true converts who are willing to do the work and not just exercise faith. Its not about faith alone as a catholic sees it. 9) faith alone by the bible, this is what it states. Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." It takes faith alone to see Jesus without seeing him. Thats what it means when you break down your conversion, the first part is a leap of faith. The term faith alone is not a passage to worship or praise, its a statement. 10) Disunity comes from people who have added to the word of GOD. If we all stuck to the word there would be no disunity. There was already church before the apostolic church and that was called "people of the way" the ones who followed the Nazarene as it was written. The Catholics have made the catechism which has added to the word of GOD and is the source of disunity as it has the methods and teachings of the popes and how you should believe by apostolic succession. Yet I say how can apostolic succession save you? The same mind can only be had if we all follow the word of god with no extra traditions added by man. Big fail on the Catholics part. I can go on and on your not preaching the word as its written, your adding your bias to aid in Catholicism and that not representing the word as its written. Just to prove a point about disunity, show me were the rosary is in the word of GOD? did Jesus use them? How can you worship Mary when you shal have no other GODs accept for me? You shall not worship Graven images. But somehow your catechism trumps the word of GOD on these issues. Unity is a dream if we dont follow the Gospels as it is written.

"...to show that Catholic theology is explicitly in the Bible..." But this is untrue, since the Papacy, papal infallibility, priesthood, celibate priests, purgatory, indulgences, the Marian dogmas, the treasury of merits, etc. are nowhere in the Bible. Verse 1: Shows no evidence that Apostles are or will be "priests". Gospel argues that priesthood has been abolished. Verse 2: In context, the body was thrown in as a drastic measure, not as a deliberate act of worship. Roman Catholic doctrine of relics demands veneration of dead bodies, something forbidden and revolting to the Jews. Nobody kept Elisha's bones to perform resurrections in future. Nobody touched the bones deliberately. The author of Kings is more interested in discussing the oppression of Israel than Elisha's bones, read verse 22 onwards. Verse 3: Peter wasn't dead when his shadow passed by. Doesn't meet the Roman Catholic qualification of a relic. Verse 4: Ditto for Paul's handkerchief. By the way, the Book of Numbers says that anyone who touches a dead body is defiled and must be separated from the holy congregation. This contradicts the Roman Catholic doctrine of relics. Verse 5: As I understand it, Paul left traditions with churches when he was unable to stay for long. Verse 6: Ditto. Also, those traditions would have been written down in the NT by the time Paul died. Verse 7: Jews were forbidden from eating flesh and from drinking blood. So the body and blood verse is clearly a metaphor, just like most of John (other metaphors include "living water", and being "born again"). Even Augustine wrote that this verse was a metaphor. This passage in John also shows that some disciples were shocked to hear this teaching, because they understood it literally, but Jesus said they were wrong for understanding it literally. Those contextual passages obviously refute the claim that this is literal. Verse 8: No comment here, as this verse does appear to refer to Mary. However, it is worth noting that the "commandments of God" are in the Torah, and they would forbid many of the practices of Roman Catholicism: touching the dead, venerating the dead, setting up icons and statues for veneration, lifelong celibacy of priests (a Nazir could only seclude himself or herself for a select period of time and then had to give a sin offering at the end), and so on.

Künstlerin-DAB1995 Where does the Bible say that the traditions would have been written down by the time Paul died?
@tapiwanashe50764 жыл бұрын
@Künstlerin-DAB1995 you raise some very good arguments. However, I must point out that the passage in John should be taken literally, judging by the reactions of the people who were present at the time. If you recall, multitudes of people walked away when Jesus kept stressing that He meant his actual flesh and actual blood. They asked, "This is a hard saying, who can listen it?" And when Jesus challenged them asking if they'd been offended by His words, they *turned away* and didn't follow Him after that. You're absolutely right about the Jewish law forbidding the eating of flesh and blood. And that's why the people turned away. Jesus was asking them to do something that they clearly understood as going against their laws. When He saw that only the 12 remained, He could have explained the "parable/metaphor" as He often did with them. But He didn't. He asked instead, "Will you also leave?" It's almost like a challenge to them, telling them this one thing (them having to eat His flesh and blood to gain eternal life) was not going to change and if they weren't comfortable with it they were free to leave. I hope this at least helps you to understand the passage better. You can also watch Fr Mike Schmitz's talk titled The Hour That Will Save Your Life to understand how Catholics interpret that passage. While I don't agree with your other arguments as well, I can see why you would hold the position you do. God bless you as you seek His truth.

Israel is quite often represented as a woman or wife in the Old Testament and this is the meaning in the book of Revelation. Isa. 26:18; 47:7-9; 54:1-6; 66:7-8; Jer. 4:31; 31:32; Lam. 1:1; Ezekiel 16:32; Hos. 2:16; Micah 4:9-10; 5:1-3. The sun, moon and stars is also a description of Israel in the O T, Gen. 37:9-11. There are many other references in the OT to this same symbolism, Joseph’s dream etc.

May the Lord God gives you real doctrines of the Lord and not of men. May the Spirit of the Lord Jesus Christ open your eyes that you may truly see and truly understand. Grace be upon you. Amen

@alray let the truth be revealed by the Holy Spirit of the Lord God and not from men who claims to be holy in robes and dresses who teaches false doctrines. But as for me, I will follow the doctrines of the Lord God in Christ Jesus.

ian vincent bucol The tittle “Holy Father” “Your Holiness” is used only because the Pope is the Vicar of Christ as Lizzie explained. That doesn’t mean Pope Francis claims to be holy or saint. The Church only calls someone a “saint” after canonization.

Othavio Loureiro with all due respect and not hate intended, she did described the pope as holy father which is only addressed to the Lord God. Romans 3:23, no one is holy except the Lord God.

alray “And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”” Matthew 16:18-19 NKJV When the Lord Jesus Christ said “on this rock” what He was referring to is His Body. And Peter is just one of the few rocks ( churches) who is standing at the Chief Cornerstone-the Lord Jesus Christ. I don’t see anything that would relate to Roman Catholicism? If only these scriptures would be pointed out to the Lord Jesus Christ only, then you would really see and understand His words.

Many holes and there are also way more verses that prove Protestantism.... And those books were rejected for a reason. They’re not inspired.

There are no verses that prove protestantism. All of it's theology was made up in the 1500s.

First of all, we must remember that the Catholic Church was the one who chose which books should belong to the NT canon, that’s a fact, that’s history (and almost all protestants still accept those books as canonic nowadays). Said that, you probably know the NT is the same in both Catholic and Protestant Bibles. The difference is in the OT: Catholic Bibles contain the following books that Protestant Bibles do not: * Tobit * Judith * 1 & 2 Maccabees * Wisdom * Sirach (or Ecclesiasticus) * Baruch This results in 46 Old Testament books in Catholic Bibles and 39 Old Testament books in Protestant Bibles. In addition, Catholic Bibles include some parts of the Books of Esther and Daniel that Protestant Bibles do not. The differences in canonical books go back to the Reformation. Up until the Reformation, all Christians used the version of the Old Testament that Catholics use today. This version was based on the Septuagint, a Greek translation of the Old Testament that was used by many Jews before the time of Christ, and then by many early Christians. Another version of the Old Testament was in the Hebrew language, and that version corresponds to what Protestants use today. It is worth noting that in the earliest days of the Church, there was no general or authoritative agreement about which books were canonical. Between 382 and 397 AD, the early Church convened three councils to determine which books were canon. They ultimately decided to include the Old Testament books from the Septuagint that Catholics recognize today. We, as Catholics, believe that these books are inspired by the Holy Spirit. At the time of the Reformation, Martin Luther and groups of Protestants revisited the decision of the ancient councils. They decided to use a different version of the Old Testament going forward that was based on the Hebrew-language books. A hypothetical Jewish council (Jamnia) had accepted this version for the Jewish religion (not Christian religion!!) near the year 70 A.D. (After Jesus!!!!!). Some Catholic teachings have their basis in the Greek-language books, and Protestants do not share those beliefs. Catholics call the books included in the Catholic Bible and not the Protestant Bible the deuterocanonical books. Protestants call them apocryphal books. In the Catholic faith, one of the big reasons we accept these books as canon is because of the authority we assign to the Septuagint. Many quotes from the New Testament come specifically from the Septuagint rather than the Hebrew Old Testament (300/350, 86%)!!! Meaning that the Apostles and even Jesus used a lot the Septuagint. But perhaps the biggest reason we include these books is because the councils of the early Church studied them carefully and made the authoritative decision that they are canon. It is important to the Church that we make decisions guided by the Holy Spirit and in the communal context of councils, which means that we can be confident in the Old Testament that has been handed down to us.

For the Apostolic Succession subject, please hasten to the opening verses of Titus, where Paul commands Titus, now a bishop, to ordain priests chosen from the proven men in the congregations to assist Titus in reaching to all the nooks and crannies of Crete, just as Titus himself had been ordained by Paul. On the Tradition subject, see the Letters of John, where he keeps repeating that he had so much to tell his audience, but cannot afford to write everything in the Letters, but that they should wait until he came to them in person, on a visit, when he would then tell them everything he wanted to teach them. In the gospels, we are also told that Jesus sat on the boat and taught the people at length, but nothing about what he specifically taught the crowd on that particular occasion.

In christianity aside from catholicism God is also working miracles through devout servants of God. These are gifts of the holy spirit. Its not just popes that god is working through. Touching a dead servant of God wont heal the sick unless God wils it.
