As a Protestant I had a strange experience. One night I was watching the Bible miniseries during the crucifixion scene and I was praying and told God that that should have been me weeping in tears the next thing I remember I was staring at myself lying on my bed and then I floated above my house and flew past all the stars until I saw nothingness a voice cried out to me and said Johnathan. I turned around and I saw the Lord in his full glory and clothed in light magnificent light that can't be described beyond that I fell to my knees because I knew I was in the presence of the Lord and without him saying anything I saw all the good deeds that I had done knowingly and unknowingly. And when I saw these bad deeds and good deeds Weighed before Christ I beg the Lord to take me away from his presence because I was unworthy and naked before God and then he said aloud Johnathan, my son.... And when I looked up I saw Christ within the light reaching his hand out for me and when I touched The holy hand of our Lord I Saw the beginning all the way to the end and felt all the evil deeds that I had done be burned away along with that part of me that committed it and when this happened I woke up gasping for air it felt like an eternity but I had only been gone 15 minutes. I know this really happened to me because I stopped breathing I don't know how or when but I stopped breathing. I understand the East and the West point of view on purgatory but if I experienced anything it was the mercy of God because I did not deserve it as we all don't deserve it. But I saw the Divine judgment and it truly was divine because it was just and loving and merciful but I know that for the wicked it'll be of their own doing because we all experience the same thing. Truly I say that this actually happened because I am no longer Protestant after that experience I now go to an Orthodox Church but I'm also studying Catholicism and have not made my choice yet. Pray for me and pray for the church's unity.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this video. Thank you so much for making this. I have a very intimate relationship with purgatory. My house was haunted after my grandma passed because she died not on good terms with me and my mom. She disowned us. Things kept happening in our house and our priest came and did a blessing on our house. He then explained purgatory to us. He was from Kenya so he was used to spiritual warfare stuff, much more than in the west. After the blessing, my house went back to normal. I’ve prayed for my grandma many times and I believe that she has successfully passed over. Since then, I’ve been dedicated to spiritual warfare and social justice. My friends always know that I’m the one to call when spooky stuff happens lol. They joke around and call me the exorcist 😂 which i suppose on a technical level I am. God bless you, Lizzie! 💕

Bert Clayton I’ve had a lot of experiences, yes. A friend of mine has a haunted house and my other friends and I have been trying to figure out a way for us to get an exorcist over there (the family is Protestant). They had a Methodist preacher come and it made it worse. And yes, I’ve heard of the Warrens! I go back and forth as to believing their credibility, but they’re definitely interesting characters. Malachi Martin is a good guy to look into if you want to know more about exorcism. I don’t agree with all his social views, but the man knows about the dark side of the spiritual, I can tell you that lol. Say prayers for me and my friends that we can get an exorcist to my friend’s house. We’ve been trying for years. God bless ❤️✝️

What does the Bible say about purgatory? Question: What does the Bible say about purgatory? Answer: The simple answer to this question is that the Bible says nothing about purgatory. The doctrine of purgatory is not a Scriptural concept. We do, however, see much discussion in God’s Word about the only two destinations for those who have died: Heaven and Hell. Jesus spoke significantly of both, and yet there is never a mention of a third place, an interim location where man undergoes further purification. The concept of purgatory implies that Christ’s work on the cross was incomplete and insufficient to save us from judgement for our sins. We know, however, that the full redemptive work of Christ was accomplished on the cross, just as Christ Himself declared, “It is finished” (John 19:30). For believers, the end of this life will be the beginning of our eternal life with the LORD. We can see this in Jesus’ parable about the rich man and Lazarus in Luke 16:19-31, whereby Lazarus was taken immediately upon his death to “Abraham’s side,” a common figure-of-speech for Heaven, and the rich man was immediately cast into torment in Hades. Paul assures believers in 2 Corinthians 5:6-8 that to be “away from the body” is to be “at home with the Lord.” Those who have been saved by faith in Jesus Christ may rest assured that their debt has been paid by Christ Himself, and that their death will find them standing before God justified and glorified, and welcomed into His kingdom.

@@mimieakutagawa5145 You are right and I apologize for sounding bombastic. I am not a Catholic nor could or would I ever be one. I base this on studying what God's word actually says. I also find that many Catholics do not read their Bibles but instead read the catechism which tells them about the CC not about what God's word says. It is a biased text to support the CC. {"there is no wrong in searching the truth, especially in God's words"} I absolutely agree with this! Which is why I study Scriptures and their meaning. However as an example Matthew 16: 18 is the foundation of the Catholic Religion and is wrongly interpreted. The CC has taken this verse out of context and applied it's own meaning to it. You said you are looking for the truth. May I suggest you start here? You can go online and look up meanings of words through 'Strongs'. In it you will see that Peter means 'stone or pebble' (petros). However Jesus said he will build his church on a 'Rock' (petra) which means a rocky out crop or boulder. The two words are not the same and do not have the same meaning. Jesus also talked about the man who built his house upon the rock (petra) not petros (stone/pebble). You now need to read verses 13-17. Verse 18 sums up verse 17. The rock or foundation is the revelation Peter received from God that "Jesus is the Messiah and the Son of God". That is the foundation or rock and it is this that the gates of hell can not stand against. Read it over and over, ask questions of the text, learn what our English words really meant in Greek or Hebrew. To close, "church" means "a gathering of believers". Not in Peter but that Jesus is the son of God and the Messiah or Christ. It does not mean the CC. This is the truth and you will not find it in the CC. Pray about it and listen to the Holy Spirits response. He will lead you to all understanding. That in it's self is another thing to ponder. Lastly, I urge you to not to look at ANY religion for clarification of the Bible. Peter didn't! It was reviled to him by God (verse 16-17) The same is for all of God's people. The Bible (God's word) tells us to seek his face. It does not say seek a religion for understanding. I pray in Jesus Christ name you will see the truth as found in Scriptures.

@@stever4181 There is no way I shall leave my faith. What I am asking is to be more enlightened by what I believe. Why should I leave my church when it needs more of our support and unity in these trying times. I am here in the Philippines and I feel the devil's fever pitch effort of proselytizing more Catholics to leave the church and be converted to man-made churches. The petra and the petros you mentioned are both the same thing which is the rock. You use either words depending on the gender that goes along with the word. Now, if I'm going to ask the fate of the Catholic churches there in the USA, ARE YOU ONE OF THOSE WHO WILL REJOICE FOR WHAT HAD HAPPENED? FROM BURNING THE CHURCH TO VANDALIZING IMAGES, THEN WHAT NEXT, KILLING CATHOLICS? And these aren't happening only in the US but even in some European countries. Now, I may suggest -How about scanning the book of history about the "EARLY CHURCH FATHERS" or the "EARLY CHURCH CHRISTIANS"/ That would, possibly, give you an illumination of your conscience that once a Catholic church was founded by Christ before there was the BIBLE.
@stever41814 жыл бұрын
@@mimieakutagawa5145 You greatly misunderstand what I wrote. I am not asking you to leave your church. You said you wanted to learn truth. It is very clear by studying Scriptures that the CC is a man made religion and all man made religions are in error at some point. The CC is also a 'Religion' It is not a faith so you put your trust in a religion not Jesus Christ. If I wanted to learn about the CC I would look at the early Catholic Church fathers. I am not interested in your religion or any other religion only the word of God. Petros/ Petra Can you tell me why Jesus would build his church on a human that said many wrong things and denied Jesus 3 times. Or would Jesus build his church on himself, the Son of God and Christ. Which makes more sense and is more in keeping with God's word? I do not condone any violence to any church and to suggest such a thing you should be ashamed. If we do take a look at your CC history we find the CC did kill and oppress many people and still does. I have been told many times by so-called god fearing Catholics I am not saved because I do not belong to the CC. That is brain washing by the CC and The Bible says different. Lastly, your 'Faith' in in a religion not in God or Christ. My faith is in God/Jesus alone apart from any religion. Does this make me better that you? NO! Not at all we are all sinners and in need of a savior, Jesus Christ. Isn't that what Jesus meant in Matthew 16:18 as being the rock or foundation?

This is such a excellent presented and thought out video. You have done your research and presented all your references so well. As a cradle Catholic, I always accepted the doctrine of purgatory and knew some of the basic arguments but your breath of knowledge is amazing. Coming from a protestant background like you do must have given you a lot of questions and criticisms of the Catholic viewpoint, which no doubt helped to direct your research. This, I am sure, would be particularly helpful to protestants in helping them understand the Catholic point. It might even help them see that the Churches teaching have more substance and are very different from what the protestant claims them to be. Have you thought of turning it into a written piece? As a video it is a little long and packed with information, though well presented. It needs a lot of study, and the references would be easier to get If it was in booklet form. You put forward so many good ideas however I liked your point about discounting the early Christian commenters while totally accepting the ones from the sixteenth century. That could be used in other situations when people prefer a modern commentary to more traditional ones. Thanks again for your video, I’ll be looking out for more of your presentations.

Rev.22:14, the washing of robes is a metaphor for purification from uncleanliness. It pronounces a blessing on those cleansed from sin, those who are saved through faith in Christ (Ephesians.1:7). In John 13:10-14, Jesus washes the disciples feet as an object lesson about spiritual cleansing. The Christian is fully washed in the blood of the Lamb, he/she may sin occasionally and finds cleansing for that sin by confessing it to the Lord. ( 1 John 1:9). He/she doesn’t have to be washed again in the blood of Christ.

@@matijavrscak6461 'catholic' Lets take a look at words. 'catholic' with a small 'c' means universal. Catholic with a capitol 'C' means Roman Catholic Church. Catholic comes from the Latin translation of the greek word 'katholikos' which means universal. It is talking about the 'church' which means, 'A body of believers, a congregation.' If a person believes in Christ Jesus as Savior and Son of God, they belong to this universal church. It is not a 'religion' as the CC would have you believe. The CC definition is based on their own traditions set up not by God but by man, the magisterium of the CC. I did watch the video. Lizzi's point of view is totally from the dictation of the CC and not on God's spoken word. It therefore comes from a man made religion. Hello !!! ... Very interesting program. I have been a Catholic for 19 years but during that time I had the opportunity to have a strong approach to many Protestant currents (Presbyterians, Methodists and free). I even had a good friend who was deeply Protestant. This caused us to have many strong discussions about it. One of the topics that we were discussing was purgatory and in fact I could not show a biblical quote that could speak about it. I had reviewed a few things in the past, but, they seemed to me that they did not give a correct and direct answer ... Anyway, thanks for the guidance, I am going to look for these quotes to review them ... God bless you, see you soon !! !

I have the oportunity to check some the scripture quotations that you tell. After reviewing these quotes, in my judgment, I consider the interpretation to be very metaphorical. It seems to me that this can be interpreted in many different ways and I really can't see that speaking of purgatory directly.

Welcome back home, Carissa. I'm catholic, from Argentina. Well, if you hadn't got many friends or you are still in that situation, you should talk to the priest, with respet of course, asking to do some comunity activity, for example a comunity dinner sometimes, to make some integration. You know, Catholic Church differs from the rest because the rest basically doesn't interact with "non-belivers". That's because they have many points on BITE model (google it), in other words, they qualify to be catalogued as a sectarism organization. Catholic community must have some social activity, but it must not be closed to the rest. sports, dinners, events like that can be organized for social integration, even with non-catholic people. Best wishes from Argentina :)

Too easy to refute. Jesus Christ during His time and ministry on earth never sinned. He was perfect; without flaw or blemish. From birth and up until His crucifixion, Jesus Christ never once trespassed against God in any way; neither small nor large. And, the reason why He lived a perfectly sinless life is because had he sinned even once, just one sin, whether it be a moment of gossip, got even mildly drunk or even told a white lie, He would have had failed in His task to be the perfect redeemer. Any one sin regardless of how small or seemingly insignificant would have negated Him as the perfect Lamb of God and His sacrifice would have had no effect whatsoever. To take on the sin of the world, Jesus Christ had to first be without sin entirely. It is a task that only He could do and no one else. For redemption, God requires perfection; like Him, without flaw or sin, and Christ was the only one who could and would be able to fit that criteria. Christ adhered to the standard set forth by God that only sinlessness would suffice in the eyes of God; perfection without blemish, as all else would be doomed to destruction. And this corroborates with the Revelation of God perfectly that sin, of any kind condemns entirely. Romans 18:23 18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles. There is no such thing as purgatory because, if purgatory was real then Jesus Christ COULD have sinned. Christ could have committed the Catholic fabrication 'Venial sins' (Lesser sins). But, He did not. He committed no sin. Christ spoke plenty about hell but never once spoke, alluded to or hinted towards the existence of 'Purgatory'. Christ never spoke of such a place because it would have formed an exemption and, a contradiction to the requirement for a perfect sacrifice. If Christ could have sinned then that would have been made apparent in scripture, but scripture is extremely clear that not only was Christ sinless but that was the absolute requirement for the atonement. 2 Cor 5:21 21 For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ. This means that sinners are righteous before God because Jesus' righteousness is imputed to them. However, Catholicism explicitly rejects this teaching. Catholics have fabricated a teaching that righteousness is infused into a person at baptism and that is what makes man good and, is the beginning of them becoming a Christian. If purgatory exists then it is the logical conclusion that man CAN sin, they can just not commit greater sins; as long as they commit nothing more than lesser sins they will not go to hell. But, this flies in the face of revelation: Romans 6:23 23 For the wage of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. The doctrine of purgatory also implies that Catholics are destined to heaven initially but their choice to sin dooms them, instead of what is revealed in scripture which is that man is destined to destruction but by choosing fellowship with Christ then instead are made righteous and can come to be before God. In addition, the doctrine of Sola Fide stands confirmed and assured by God that faith in Christ saves, and saves absolutely, eternally and entirely from all sin: Acts 13:39 39 Through him everyone who [believes is set free from every sin, a justification] you were not able to obtain under the law of Moses. Because faith in Christ saves, and not temporarily or in part regarding sins but entirely, that is, ALL sins are remitted and forgiven implies that there can be no purgatory because salvation in Christ assures that the soul who is saved will go straight into the presence of God. If purgatory exists then God created it for the purpose of ensuring more people would go to heaven than less, but the case is that this is false because God has established that sin itself leads to destruction without variance and that only perfection without sin can have eternal life. Humans cannot be perfect nor can they be without sin, and God punishes all sin as all sin leads to destruction without exemption. However, Catholics counter this by pointing out that God punishes people differently for different sins, which is true, but punishment after death is the same regardless, and all sin leads to destruction ultimately without exception (Romans 6:23). So, in conclusion, purgatory does not exist because: 1. It is not revealed in scripture whatsoever, and Christ has had ample time to discuss and explain it, but He did not. 2. The doctrine of purgatory contradicts the requirement of perfection set forth by God Himself which would give concession to sin; wrong doing, which is rebellion against God. All sin is rebellion against God. 3. Purgatory cannot exist because God would not create a safety net for the sinner, because that would have set fourth the assumption in the minds of man that if God punishes lesser sins then some sins are permissible; people would use this as an excuse to justify their wrong doing. This does not imply that God would allow lesser sins but that He would treat sin differently after death and, His revelation that all sin leads to destruction would be a false revelation. It is exactly because mankind cannot be without sin and are destined to destruction that we need Christ; we need a perfect sacrifice to take away all of sin so that upon forming a fellowship with Him, He can make us righteous and can mediate between God and us, and through Him and only His sinless perfection can be we saved, because nothing we do can save ourselves or each other. This leads me to the doctrine of Indulgences. Indulgences is also a fabrication of the Catholic church and corroborates with purgatory. Indulgences is the unbiblical Catholic doctrine that believers can pay to reduce punishment in purgatory. Indulgences is still a common practice of Catholics today. Plenary Indulgences: For those on the point of death without access to Anointing or the Viaticum (Last Rites), they can receive a plenary indulgence if they want forgiveness, detest sin and 'have recited at least a few prayers during their lifetime.' If possible, it is recommended that the person see or touch a crucifix or cross. It is worth noting that the documents of Vatican II have more sections on Indulgences than they have on Justification. In fact, the modern popes still give out Plenary Indulgences; a full remission of all the temporal punishments of sins upon your soul for committing certain acts. Indulgences are not only a clear fabrication but are exactly unbiblical and contrary to revelation: Psalm 49:7-8 7 No man can possibly redeem his brother or pay his ransom to God. 8 For the redemption of his soul is costly, and never can payment suffice In addition to this Psalm, that it is impossible to pay a ransom for the soul of another also implies that it is impossible to pay the ransom on the soul of oneself. For if no one can redeem you, then you certainly cannot redeem yourself. If purgatory existed, which by the revelation of God not only does not but cannot then Indulgences would have no effect upon it. Purgatory is a man-made doctrine that does not corroborate with or, is taught about in scripture, and if it did it would have been made as apparent as hell, heaven and salvation. This is the perfect proof that negates the Catholic fabrication of 'Purgatory', as well as the fabrication that is 'Indulgences'. If there is one thing that can be taken away from the differences between Christians and Catholics regarding the Catholic doctrine of purgatory is that Christians have a greater respect for scripture and the Gospel and the atonement of Christ than Catholics, but also reject and rebuke Catholic doctrine which negates and degrades the perfection and work of Christ and the clear revelation of God. Catholics are misled to their inevitable destruction by lies and fabricated doctrines not revealed in scripture but rather have been explicitly warned against. Purgatory does not exist, because by the nature, content and context of Revelation, it CANNOT exist. And Indulgences exist as a money-making scheme to fool the gullible Catholic into paying money to get their deceased loved ones out of a place that is Biblically confirmed impossible to exist. Too. Easy.

It is fair to point out that the Thessalonians were at a disadvantage compared to Christians today. They did not have all the written books of New Testament Scripture. Paul wrote both of his epistles to Thessalonica very early in the New Testament era-about A.D. 51. The two letters were probably written only a few months apart and are among the very earliest of all the New Testament writings. The Thessalonians’ primary source of authoritative gospel truth was Paul’s teaching. As an apostle, Paul taught with absolute authority. When he taught them, his message was the Word of God, and he commended them for recognizing that: “For this reason we also constantly thank God that when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but for what it really is, the word of God, which also performs its work in you who believe” (1 Thessalonians 2:13). Elsewhere he said that the commandments he gave them were “by the authority of the Lord Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 4:2). The substance of what he taught them represented the same body of truth that is available to us in the New Testament. How do we know? Paul himself said so. Even as he was recording his inspired epistle to them, he reminded them, “Do you not remember that while I was still with you, I was telling you these things?” (2 Thessalonians 2:5). The written Word simply confirmed and recorded for all time the authoritative truth he had already taught them in person. These epistles were a written reminder of what they had already heard from Paul’s own mouth (1 Thessalonians 4:2). Second Thessalonians 2:15 confirms this: “Stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word of mouth or by letter from us.” There he declares, first of all, that his epistles to them are authoritative, inspired truth. This verse is a clear statement that Paul himself regarded these epistles as inspired Scripture. But notice also that this verse joins the apostolic “traditions” with the written Word of God. The “traditions” necessary for Christians to be discerning are recorded for all ages in the text of Scripture. Those who claim that apostolic tradition is other truth in addition to Scripture often attempt to use this verse for support. Note, however, that Paul is not saying that “the traditions [they] were taught” are different from the written Scriptures. Rather, he links the two, affirming that the written Word of God is the only permanent and authoritative record of the apostolic tradition. He is specifically suggesting that the Thessalonians should not trust “word of mouth” or letters pretending to be from apostolic sources. Only what they had heard firsthand from Paul’s own lips or read in authentic letters from him were they to treat as authoritative, divine truth. That is why Paul usually signed his epistles “with [his] own hand” (1 Corinthians 16:21; Galatians 6:11; Colossians 4:18; 2 Thessalonians 3:17; Philemon 19). With this in mind, 2 Thessalonians 2:15 cannot be used to support the claim that extrabiblical, spiritually binding “apostolic tradition” is passed down verbally through popes and bishops. Paul’s whole point was that the Thessalonians should treat as authoritative only what they had heard from his own mouth or received from his own pen. That body of truth-the Word of God-was to be the measuring stick they used to examine all things. Two other verses confirm this. In 2 Thessalonians 3:6 Paul writes, “Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from every brother who leads an unruly life and not according to the tradition which you received from us.” And in verse 14 he adds, “If anyone does not obey our instruction in this letter, take special note of that person and do not associate with him, so that he will be put to shame.” Therefore, Paul is affirming that the Bible is the only reliable criterion by which believers in this age can evaluate messages claiming to be truth from God.

Christiana, your conclusion is incorrect....The crust of the matter is ...Is the traditions today what Paul and the early fathers handed over or not?....If yes, we accept it and hand them over to the next generation; if not, we ignore.....That's all.

To me there is no reason to doubt because I believe not only in the doctrine but of what our Holy Mother has told her beloved saints and seers about it, and also people who has died and witnessed it. It only makes sense because otherwise, even someone is saved (from hell) we are impure and the impure CANNOT enter heaven, but does not go to hell because they repented and confessed to God so he forgive them, so where to they go? To Purgatory to finish their purification most definitely.

Around 12 minutes in, I have a question. How can God punishes us in purgatory according to our sins if He promises that He forgets our sins if we ask for forgiveness? “I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more” (Jeremiah 31:34) “As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us” (Psalm 103:12) "You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea" (Micah 7:19). Also the idea of needing to be "purified" by fire of our sins before entering heaven doesn't make sense as an argument for purgatory, according to these bible verses. "But if we live in the light in the same way as he is in the light, we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from every sin" (1 John 1:7) "In a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed" (1 Corinthians 15:52). This verse in particular says we are prepared for heaven in an instant, being given new immortal bodies that are ready for heaven. Hades/Sheol is simply the place of the dead. I was a bit lost at how it relates to purgatory. "In this age, or in the age to come", simply in the time of the writing and in the future, blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is not forgiven. The passage you read somehow interpreted "the age to come" as purgatory? I know you go by early Christian interpretations and not your own, but those are also interpretations by individuals, and I can't help but say this one in particular is clutching at straws.

Luke 12:42-48 please try to read these verses... I found out that the (1) faithful servant receives a reward and that is heaven.. the (2) unfaithful or unbeliever servant receives a condemnation into eternal punishment and that is hell.. the (3) unprepared servant will be beaten with many stripes.. while (4) ignorant servant did things worthy of stripes, will be beaten with few stripes... The question is, in what place that the (3rd) and (4th) servants they would go? Perhaps, they can not enter heaven at once for they are not fit enough and also, they would not be in hell because there's no hope there..... Luke 12:59 "I tell you, you will by no means get out of there, until you have paid the very last penny."

Good day. a) I believe that 1Peter 3:19 is not referring to hell (eternal fire) where disobedient spirits were being imprisoned. b) (Hebrews 9:27-28) I don't believe that ONLY the living are waiting for the second coming of Christ to receive the promise of salvation but also the imprisoned spirits. Being disobedient is different from being unbeliever. Even Christians nowadays (including non-catholics) rampantly disobey God. c) I believe that the true "hell" (eternal fire) is final and it will happen on the judgement day. I don't believe that Jesus will go there to preach or proclaim after casting the wicked on fire. The normal process is: Preach/proclaim first before judging/condemning. d) No need to scrutenize the term "purgatory", after all its the Bible's thought that counts.

concerning your point d), the Holy Trinity is a term that doesn't appear anywhere in the Bible. But is it not worth scrutinizing? People develop new words for things that were only alluded to or described in the Bible, that doesn't make these things unreal.

Peace be with you. In the Bible Jesus talks about purgatory. Jesus gives a parable about this topic in Luke 16:19-31, Abraham’s bosom (purgatory) is a resting place. See clarification of bosom in John 13:23 - John rested on Jesus’ bosom. Also Peter says Jesus died and preached to the spirits in prison/purgatory 1Peter 3:17-22, which Jesus takes people from purgatory into heaven, Why would Jesus preach to the eternal damned? These are pointed out from Dr Brant Pitre (Catholic Apologist) and Dr Scott Hahn (Catholic Convert/Apologist). However we are to aim for heaven, avoid hell and purgatory is not forever/temporary, Rev 20:11-15. Which is why Jesus/Bible does not talk too much about purgatory. Some Protestant brothers and sisters believe that only thru Jesus dying on the cross heaven is achieved, in a chronological time point of view. Which is another reason why purgatory exists, the righteous dead, not perfect, were waiting for Jesus to die on the cross, go into purgatory and take them to heaven - Luke 23:43 & 1Peter 3:17-22. However, Enoch (Genesis 5:24 and Hebrews 11:5) and Elijah (2 Kings 2:11) were taken in to heaven, body and soul, which is an exception from the rule (which can be explained by the Trinity, Jesus/God the Father/Holy Spirit took Enoch and Elijah into heaven, as God spans time and space) - and are cases of why we believe in Mary’s body and soul Assumption. I mean we are Catholics, we would have venerated Mary’s body/relics if it were still on Earth! And built a church for it! To other points Protestants are complaining to you about on the comments on this KZbin video: Protestants point out of how bad the Catholic Church is and it does have bad people in it. But don’t be discouraged. Why even Jesus had Judas Iscariot in his apostles. You must remember Jesus came for the sinner, Luke 5:32. Biblical passages on Priesthood is given by Dr Brant Pitre. From a Jewish point of view. Moses and the 70/72 Elders/Helpers/Priests Numbers 11:16-25 and Jesus and the 70/72 Luke 10:1-3. Not just the 12 apostles. Eucharist, Jesus in the Real Presence, John 6:35-69. Dr Scott Hahn has heaps of bible verses on Mary the Mother of God (Luke). The Perpetual Virginity (Arc of Covenant), Immaculate Conception - Conceived without Original Sin, remember Adam, Eve and Jesus are also part of this club. Assumption Body and Soul into Heaven (Enoch & Elijah), Queen of Heaven and Earth (Revelation, Intersession of Mary to Jesus (Bathsheba to King Solomon), etc. One truth, one church, John 14:6. Mathew 16:18, if Protestants think that the Catholic Church is the “Whore of Babylon” then Jesus is a liar. Jesus said even the “gates of hell will not over come it” that is no one no matter how bad will destroy Jesus’ church the Catholic Church. Lizzie I enjoy your work and reminds me of my conversion. I am a cradle Catholic that became a Protestant and converted back to a Catholic some 20 yrs ago.

Sir none of the scriptures you listed prove that purgatory exists. The scriptures you chose have nothing to do with purgatory all were taken out of context. I say this to you out of concern for your soul. This has nothing to do with you being Catholic. You are truly lost and focused on false doctrine. Your site the opinions of apologetics that based there theological facts on ideas that di not line up with scripture. 2Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine for reproof for correction for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect throughly furnished unto all good works. Back up to veres 15 And from a child thou hast know the Holy scriptures which are able to make the wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. You do not need the wisdom of men nor do you need the false doctrine of purgatory to save you. Read Romans 10:10 YOU MUST BELIEVE WITH YOUR HEART AND CONFESS WITH YOUR MOUTH UNTO SALVATION. Read Acts 1:8 you need the Holy Ghost read 2nd Corinthians 5:17 YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN YOU MUST BECOME A NEW CREATURE. Read John 3:5 you must be born again. READ ROMANS 12:2 YOUR MIND MUST BE RENEWED BY THE WORD OF GOD NOT BY THE OPINIONS OF MEN. READ ROMANS 10:17 FAITH COMES ONE WAY THROUGH HEARING THE WORD OF GOD. ACTS 2:38 THEN PETER SAID UNTO THEM REPENT AND BE BAPTIZED EVERY ONE OF YOU IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST FOR THE REMISSION OF SINS AND YE SHALL RECEIVE THE GIFT OF THE HOLY GHOST. STOP BEING CONCERED WITH FALSE DOCTRINE AND GET YOUR MIND AND HEART ON JESUS. ACTS 4:12 says there is no other name under heaven whereby men must be saved. Read John 14:6 Jesus is the way the truth and the life no man cometh unto the Father but by him. You don't need anything or anyone but Jesus. The spirits in prison are those who died before the resurrection and did not hear the gospel of Jesus Christ they are not in purgatory there are several schools of thought to who he preached to but it definitely does not fit in with the false doctrine of purgatory. The Bible is the only true source of God's word. John 17:17 says his word is truth. I hope this helps you understand to put your trust im Jesus and not man.

There are so many things wrong with this video: it seems to be suggesting that every living soul will eventually be purified in purgatory by fire and be saved into the kingdom (even the most wicked). While this may be a comforting thought for some people, it does not line up with the Bible. I use KJV for literal translations. Read; Isaiah 66:24 ( this fire will utterly destroy the wicked. Repent in this life!) please John 3:15,16 and Luke 13:5. (perish means the soul for eternity) Revelation 3:5 (Being blotted out of the book of life suggests a final forever death for the person) Malachi 4:1-3 (this death is final) Revelation 22:11 (at some point probation is over and all will have made their choices. This is done in this life here not after the 1st death. ) Revelation 21:8 (mentions a second death, this is not a second chance at everlasting life but a final destruction of all the wicked and death itself.) Ecclesiastes 9:5 (speaks for itself: the dead are not awake, no need to pray for them, but for the living!) please

The premise of Purgatory is "To purify from any imperfection by fire" Just as Lizzie stated in her video @2:22. However, the Bible states in (1 John 1:7) it is Jesus's blood that performs this work. Therefore, purgatory becomes null. You can't have it both ways, otherwise, you put the bible in a state of contradiction.

Purgatory is the work of Christ on the cross. There is no other way to obtain forgiveness and mercy from God, or purification of sin. St. Paul says there is no foundation for salvation apart from Christ in 1 Cor. 3:11; then only a few verses later he states that those who build imperfectly on that foundation will still be saved, but only as through fire, suffering loss (1 Cor. 3:13-15). Paul does not separate the purifying fire from the foundation that is Christ, so why should we? Purgatory is an EXTENSION of Christ's saving work, not something separate from it... at least, according to St. Paul's inspired writing.

A question to all protestants, how can it be that what your interpretation is true and not ours? How can the sacred scripture be compiled without the authority of those here on earth? Christians do not hate Catholic People! They hate the lies the RCC uses to enslave those people. You said, "LOVE is the way to GOD," Not true at all. Is this the teaching of the RCC? @@josephmae1519 Again I have to correct you. Our love may motivate us to speak of Jesus. However, our love will not lead them to Jesus. That is up to the Holy Spirit that works in a person's life and then only if that person subjects himself to Jesus through repentance of sin. What Jesus wanted us to do was to believe that he is the Son of God and the messiah, the savior. That is clear throughout the NT. No church can save us and in fact there are a plethora of churches that do just the opposite. Sad to say but the Catholic church is one of them. Bells and whistles should go off when any church declares itself to be the one true church or that salvation is only through that church. I’m seeing a logical problem here I can’t get past. When you were talking about how even if purgatory was not in the Bible it wouldn’t have to be because God commands that you follow church tradition through word of mouth ect. To me that doesn’t mean you can just make up new traditions that are not in the Bible. For example one of our traditions is to partake of the wine and body of Christ because Jesus commanded that we do this in memory of him that is a church tradition it is biblically-based you can site where Jesus said to follow this tradition. Now not everybody back in the day had a Bible so it was up to the elders to remember testament to be able to Orally tell people. If it is not in the Bible however as a tradition then it is not the will of god its the will of man. If it is something that you’re saying that is not in the Bible then it does not count you are not following God‘s command you’re making up your own religion putting words on gods mouth. So since purgatory is not mentioned in the Bible at all how is this not putting words in gods mouth? Wondering your thoughts on this with this historical context.
@kittykatxox8454 жыл бұрын
Also I’m confused why you’re reading from Jewish religion since the Jewish religion doesn’t even think that Jesus has come yet so everything that they say should be taken with a grain of salt automatically it’s completely separate religion from Christianity Christianity is the true religion Judaism is not they can’t both be true.
