Thanks so much 😊 There's a great deal of pleasure in supporting each other and sharing time, ideas and laughter. Steph and I have become good friends over the last couple of years and I'm thrilled that we live reasonably close to each other.

Now Christmas is over I suddenly feel urgency to get out and clear up ready for the new growing season. Today I spread compost, packed leaves into a large bin for leafmould - climbing in and jumping to pack as many in as possible. I knew that extra Christmas weight had a higher purpose.

Sounds great! It's far too wet for us to do any gardening yet, the ground is saturated and it's a bit of a mud bath out there!

Oh I still do go out in the garden at this time of year, come rain of shine! Yesterday I cut back Mexican fleabanes, pulled out some nettles, moved one of Astrantias to a shady area as it couldn’t well with full sun in my garden. Coming up next week > pruning shrub roses :) enjoy gardening everyone!

So wonderful to see a garden in the height of summer at this time of year Liz. Been following Steph's wonderful updates on instagram for a long time. Absolutely mad how quickly both of you have turned your land productive. PS That was a beautiful shot of Steph enjoying the hammock 😆

Brilliant liz, I’m a big fan of Steph, it’s so great she shows what a woman on her own can achieve as often watch videos where people have partners to help and it make you feel down if you are on your own so thank you.

Couldn't agree more! I know lots of people think that Mr J does half the gardening here, but he's the first to admit that he doesn't garden. Like Steph has the occasional help from her children, I have the occasional help from Mr J - but we can do it as women on our own in the garden!

I'm glad you like my work/videos! It is all me, with very occasional help from my kids for things like putting up the big fruit cage, along with full time work and all the other things we do in life - that's why things are done in manageable stages :-)

@@smileawhile3788 it isn't the case, dandelions grow almost everywhere, all kinds of soil. They are not an indication that you need to work the soil. Ecologically, better not to work the soil, too.

8:25 time stamp… I have also tried making the roasted dandelion roots “coffee” after hearing about this substitute that they made in wartime. It was vile. Never again.😂 Steph, I’m curious if you have a solution to slugs in the garden, as that is a problem at times in my garden.

Mostly it's a combination of relocation to one of the wild areas, encouragement of predators and reduction of slug habitat where I'm growing slug-susceptible plants. So I use mulches that don't encourage them, mostly don't have sides to my beds, keep debris (piles of logs, twigs, etc) in the wild areas.
