The subtle detail of Lizzy handing the cashier (I see you, Jacob) a Euro note, mistaking it for a dollar note, is so good. It means they've been travelling abroad, spending quality time together vacationing and just loving life with each other. It's so beautiful

WHO MIXED THE VOCALS- THEY DESERVE AN AWARD
@benfischer25603 ай бұрын
Right? What is this effect? Two lead vocal layers, one panned to the left, one to the right?
@Adam-hs1ft2 ай бұрын
I believe Philip Etherington produced this album with Lizzy. Vocal doubling is pretty common, but the hard-panning is less conventional for a pop record. You can hear it on more experimental/psychedelic records like Daniel Romano's Dandelion album.

@@lukemills5179 How do you know that all the audience of doomsday will have the opportunity to see the sequels? When you combine lyrical virtuosity with the flawless video production do you think that the potential romanticzing of teen angst and infatuation might lead to the ultimate act of self-harm by that small audience that might fail to distinguish between reality and performance. At a young age parts of the brain are not yet fully developed as had been argued forensically for years in connection with crimes, especially murder, committed by kids. I apologize at directing this stark comment at you. I am not attempting to be disrespectful. Just frustrated by the potential harm that a production like this can accomplish. Certainly, no need for a reply.

The ending was so relatable it was physically painful, in a good way; thank you for making me feel so deeply with your music
@lukemills51793 жыл бұрын
Oh my goodness this is so good! It’s literally three songs in one story. Doomsday is about breaking up with her boyfriend which was at the football field and then erase me is about coping with that break up and at the end she goes to the same field and sees him at the same exact place she saw him last even with the face paint (which I didn’t really understand, if anyone knows please let me know) and then in all my ghost 3 years later she got a new boyfriend but her ex still haunts her as you see it’s the same guy at the end of this music video as the guy in doomsday and erase me. I don’t think I’ve ever seen other artists (besides musicals) make a story like this into multiple songs it’s amazing. I was trying to look for other little details of this story in the music videos but couldn’t find any at the moment. Let me know if you found some.

Besides the INCREDIBLE music itself, I think why I like Lizzy so much is because she doesn't take cheap shots as a songwriter and artiste. It is easy to have a breakup and write a song just to bitch about your ex (ahhem) but beyond being cathartic, it seems classless and empty. Everyone has experienced romantic heartbreak, but how do we talk or write or sing about it in a way that is artistic and purposeful? But I think what makes Lizzy special is that she manages to capture her particular experience through intensely personal, true-to-life scenes ("we made sangria and failed / i spilled mac and cheese on my pants / and thought about kissing you underneath kitchen lights") while making it relatable to the every(wo)man. It is all at once recounting and storytelling, fact and fiction in the same breath. Can't wait for the album!
