The way you put olive oil on your food reminds me of that meme where the waiter keeps adding parmesan until everyone is drowning in parmesan and everyone is happy.

I personally find Xmas is such a challenging time especially when it comes to grief and loss. I miss my brother even more as time goes on, as I always feel that it marks another year since I last saw him. It sort of highlights the loss. Think it’s really helpful of you to mention and explain how you feel. Thanks Lizzie it’s always good to know that there are others who find this time of year hard, it reminds me that me and my family are far from alone and there are many millions of others feeling similar emotions. LET'S NORMALISE NOT ENJOYING CHRISTMAS & NOT FEELING FESTIVE. Lizzy, I am so thankful for you speaking up about the dread of Christmas!!! I honestly have always felt so alone in my neutral mood about this holiday even a bit Grinch-y, especially since living in the UK. I feel like London (it's where I live so I can't speak about other places in the UK) overdoes it when it comes to this holiday and I find it so irritating, songs on repeat in every shop you walk into, wasteful and over the top decorations bombarding the high streets & businesses and ALL the trees being cut from nature, wrapped up in that horrible plastic and thrown away in a couple of weeks time... On that note I saw Waitrose sell potted ones you can then plant hehe. This time of the year has never been a happy one for me: with a mixture of seasonal depression, extreme societal pressure to ''care'' about Christmas, having to always work during this time when others are chilling at home/ going away, the family tensions, the pressure that we HAVE to be overspending & then living in misery for the whole of Jan is revolting honestly, the unsustainable element to it, the ''be happy, it's Christmas'' attitude UGH.

@@abbeydawes5786 you're not alone!! i'm so sad to see all the Christmas trees piling up on the pavements everywhere and i just can't help but wonder whyyyy? why do these people dump them like that? why don't they at least bother to dispose of them properly?

Popping in here to say thank you for the bit about the holidays. I lost my dad 6 years ago and my mom 2 years ago. My mom loved Christmas, and my dad loved my mom. It’s hard for me not to feel guilty for my apathy about the holidays. Looking forward to the book boxes; I think that would make a nice gift for my sister.

Thank you for this, Lizzy. Loved your comments about how not everyone likes Christmas and people should enjoy or not enjoy exactly as much or little of it as they want. Your collaboration is so cool and thoughtful and exactly the opposite of the breathless, crazy Xmas hype that's available in such abundance elsewhere at the moment. This particular vlog is one of my favourites on your channel, which is saying a lot. xo

If you take a tea bag (I've used chamomile, green and orange pekoe), soak it in hot but not boiling water, squeeze it out a bit and then place it on your eye it will help drain the stye before it even fully forms. Keep it on until it cools down, do it a few times a day until it goes away. There's an astringent property to the tea which helps to draw out the infection.

There is something really pleasing about roasted veg with olive oil. I roast potatos, butternut squash, sweet potato and green beans, with ras el hanout, sambal AND LOTS OF GARLIC, and when there are 15 minutes left I add Lidl's falafels and it is DELICIOUS! I have to add, if you want to know if the milk has gone bad, boil it. If it splits...yes, throw it away.

Bless you, i really feel for you eye wise! Eye conjestion wise - I am a bit prone too. I sometimes see an ayurvedic specialist, and since ive been using rosewater as a toner on their recommendation on my eyes after removing makeup (its antibacterial and great for wrinkle prevention!) ive had a lot less issues! Its the most sensitive and natural of products and a really mild scent (i also mega sensitive skin) and feels luxurious to just pour some refrigerated rose water onto a pad and compress on eyes for a second or two after makeup removal! My recommendation is Amphora Aromatics pure distilled rosewater. Xx

It could be a meibomian cyst. I get mine every year during winter. My oils ducts in my eye clogs up (because of the cold) and causes a cyst. Use a warm compress to break down the oil and reduce the swelling. Hope that helps 💓

Hey Lizzy! Great vlog as usual. I know it can be hard getting some unsolicited advice on your eye situation, but as I was watching this with my gf, she said that she's had the same eye issues before, usually twice a year too, and in her case it was eczema-and she was very admin on instead of putting hot compress on, cold compresses! I know other people have commented that it could be a different issue, just thought you might want to consider that too if you haven't already! Hope you get well soon xx P.S.: you're the only youtuber my gf actually watches with me without getting bored to death haha

I feel like you at Christmas, its gets worse with age!! Your tree is just right, lovely. I no longer have my parents or brother and i am sure lots of people have no close family left, so i book in a hotel in Cornwall, go for walks and coffees and see places i love to just get through until the New Year. No questions asked in a hotel and you come back when its all over. Father died Christmas Day, brother New Years Eve. Worst week of the year. You should try Marks and Spencer's Collection mini mince pies, bite size you would like them very much I am sure, beware, one is not enough though !!! lovely with a coffee !! xx

Your eye problems could be triggered by dryness - dry eyes can happen with looking at screens too long, changes in weather or central heating coming on now we're in winter. I find I also get styes when I'm sleep deprived and stressed. All of these are triggers so I'd suggest lots of rest, drinking lots of water and potentially using eye drops every so often to keep your eyes lubricated. You're doing the right things with keeping them clean and wearing minimal make up. Perhaps keep a bottle of saline in the house and use this to wipe your eyes with a clean cotton pad if you feel them getting irritated. Look out for signs of infection - pain, discharge, redness, grittiness etc which could be blepharitis, conjunctivitis or peri-oribital/orbital cellulitis, in which case speak to your GP asap. Hope they resolve soon, (advice from a junior doctor)

Regarding the stye, I thought it was only me...but I’ve had a stye twice this year in the space of 3 months apart, both in different eyes and I have NEVER had a stye before! I do think it is COVID stress related. Once COVID fucks off maybe our bodies can start to settle and recover 😆

Hi Lizzy, loving your vlog as always! Your eye sounds like a chalazion to me (not sure on spelling sorry!) - I had the same thing last year. The doctor told me to put really hot water (as hot as you can handle) onto a cotton pad and press it onto your eye, and rub it around quite firmly onto the chalazion. Do it for about 20 seconds twice a day. They also prescribed me some antibiotic eye gel thing which helped. Hope it feels better soon.
