Brother!!! I love Your technique(s), Gary Willis fingering style & efficiency, tone, creativity, & that You play a Dingwall (Love that hollow body ABll!!!) to match such efficiency, but particularly how Your pieces evoke emotion on such a deep level being moved to happy tears! Thoughtfulness from the heart feels so good which breaks through any complexity to let it happen vs making it happen. Throw in a Chapman Stick & well...

It is very surprising how well the Stick blends with the Dingwall. If you have the money, get the Afterburner II - the tone chambers just bring the bass to life. I’ve had both ABZ and AB1 basses and for me the ABII is something else. Beautiful playing.

This is easily the most beautiful piece I've ever heard in my life. Your technique and writing style is so awesome. I like how you write around the open strings like that and how you weave them into the piece itself. That's incredible. Are there any tabs available for this?
@hilltide85774 ай бұрын
Wow that's very kind. I love open strings mixed in with the chordal stuff for sure, I'm messing with other opening tunings for future compositions too. Really appreciate it. I don't really write out the tabs for things, but I might have a go in the near future. In the meantime, let me know if you have any questions about learning it!
@coltonpugh96694 ай бұрын
@@hilltide8577 The Chapman Stick was also a really nice touch. I forgot to mention that. But yeah, I was curious as to what tuning this was played in because I tried noodling around a bit in standard but it didn't match up. I thought it might be an open tuning.

@@hilltide8577 This truly is beautiful. Do you think its possible to get a 4 string bass to sound close to this, in its own way ofcourse

Dude can you please speak as to the adjustment it took you to feel comfortable playing on frets 20-24? I’m having zero issues playing the fanned frets but way up top at like fret 15 and above when the slant really gets accentuated I just can’t seem to get the muscle memory down. Not to mention the chords that you play as well. Any advice would be appreciated. Great tune by the way! Really enjoyed it!
@abls8458 Жыл бұрын
Yes from 0:45 onwards I played slanted frets before and that would be so hard to do. This dude is crazy good
@hyperplayability6290 Жыл бұрын
I personally just figure out new fingerings for chords that are more comfortable in the higher register and mess around a bit with fingerings for single notes The fact that I have small hands may help with that too
@JarkMohnson3 жыл бұрын
I could listen to this on repeat all day. What made you go with the Afterburner? I've been looking into a Dingwall for a long time, but can't narrow down a model type.
@hilltide85772 жыл бұрын
Hey! Sorry for the late reply, I need to figure out why I’m not getting notifs on these videos! There was a particular feel and ‘grind’ to the sound of this particular one I loved. I tried out a few and this just sat right with me. The top end of the ABII really rings out for me (might be the hollow body which assists this).
@timothywachowicz8308 Жыл бұрын
Agreed! Mark!! It Feels so good like a proper blend of harmonic resonant frequency for heart brain coherence! Deep Healing vibrations for sure! You Can't go wrong with an ABll! I obtained a Combustion just to see how I would get along with it 2 years ago (I Love it!) & to make a long story short the next one will be an ABll! Fretless :) As I see this is a year ago You may have one already. Blessings Mark!
