I grew up in the 80's and 90's LL was huge. But no one I mean absolutely no one will ever leave their mark in history like the Beastie Boys, there's just no comparison. They were way ahead of their time. Even today no other rapper or rap group could pull off there energy and performances.

Incoherent ramblings of white people during the 80s & 90s who back then couldn't name 5 rappers other than the Beastie Boys, if you quizzed them on the spot. Beastie Boys were not even really taken serious back then. White people with the revisionist history of black music is so clownish

@@john8865 not really. People forget how many talked crap about the Beastie Boys especially back then. It wasn't cool that 3 white dudes were making over other rappers plus let's not forget Vanilla Ice and just how badly he was being dissed even though so many dissing him were also jamming out to that song. In no way am I comparing the two but I'm am comparing the distain many showed for someone getting huge on their culture. I really don't think people remember all the articles and sound clips from back then and how many said it wouldn't last and they stole from their culture. It's true that LL couldn't come right out and say that since Adam helped his career because of his tape he found but don't worry other people said it out right. Hopefully, people do mature with age because they see and truly get to see how it really work's and also they remained true to their craft and didn't make a mockery of their culture. However, I feel it's everybody's culture once they grow up with it and I'll always feel this way.

nah hes right and the beastie boys would probably later agree. dont forget Licensed to Ill was originally supposed to be called Don't Be A Faggot. The Beastie Boys WERE children. Their whiteness was a major factor in why and how they got away with acting the way they did and I think LL was right to be angry. I was impressed with how articulately he expressed his frustratio - clearly but with respect.

If this is for real and he's being serious you can't really hold this against him. He's so young here, he's grown and matured and become a man. He may have been upset with them but there is no denying he loves the Beastie Boys and has nothing but the utmost respect for them. The only reason Rick Rubin listened to LL's demo is because Ad-Rock pressured him to. Actually Ad-Rock produced the beats on LL's album "I need a beat". This is an excellent example of how you're perspective changes as you get older. It's the same reason why so many young people get addicted to drugs (like myself). Until you're actually trapped inside of active addiction, you can't wrap you're mind around not being able to stop using once it becomes a problem. You see you're peers experiment with no problem, but if you happen to be someone with a genetic predisposition towards addiction, you cannot stop yourself once you start. I think it's life experience, that enables you to see things for what they really are, rather than how you feel they should be.

I love LL, takes me back But... um, you may not have had that lane... I feel him, they would agree, they did change and don't forget where you came from. I remember when they were a punk band with mad love for rap... Rap is rebellious and was riding when I hit the Fever, went down to CB's or in later days the Q in Jamaica around the corner from my house. Everyone was finding their voice and a punk mindset isn't easy to change. But good you came out, maybe it helped the transition when they saw it affected others, not just them. One love.

Cause people always looking for a reason to give a brother static, when your white like I am you don’t have to worry about that as much and we don’t get it. Hip hop was young and they were acting a fool, they rectified it later on tho. But yea I agree with Uncle L here.
