@@john8865 not really. People forget how many talked crap about the Beastie Boys especially back then. It wasn't cool that 3 white dudes were making over other rappers plus let's not forget Vanilla Ice and just how badly he was being dissed even though so many dissing him were also jamming out to that song. In no way am I comparing the two but I'm am comparing the distain many showed for someone getting huge on their culture. I really don't think people remember all the articles and sound clips from back then and how many said it wouldn't last and they stole from their culture. It's true that LL couldn't come right out and say that since Adam helped his career because of his tape he found but don't worry other people said it out right. Hopefully, people do mature with age because they see and truly get to see how it really work's and also they remained true to their craft and didn't make a mockery of their culture. However, I feel it's everybody's culture once they grow up with it and I'll always feel this way.

This is an excellent example of how you're perspective changes as you get older. It's the same reason why so many young people get addicted to drugs (like myself). Until you're actually trapped inside of active addiction, you can't wrap you're mind around not being able to stop using once it becomes a problem. You see you're peers experiment with no problem, but if you happen to be someone with a genetic predisposition towards addiction, you cannot stop yourself once you start. I think it's life experience, that enables you to see things for what they really are, rather than how you feel they should be.

Rap is rebellious and was riding when I hit the Fever, went down to CB's or in later days the Q in Jamaica around the corner from my house. Everyone was finding their voice and a punk mindset isn't easy to change. But good you came out, maybe it helped the transition when they saw it affected others, not just them. One love.
