One of the best raids ever made. I honestly don't get the problem with symbols, they're all unique enough where even if you don't know the proper names, you should be able to describe them. Unlike Last Wish where the symbols are all basically identical.

I love teaching this raid. Best done with one experienced player who can help out with explaining and helping blueberries with encounters. For those reading this: I should note that this guide here does not give a good idea of what a new-player teaching experience should be- this is a guide for speedrunners and serious raid players. *Some experienced players may try teaching these things to new lights when guiding them through the raid, and this could confuse anyone who is still learning the raid.* If you want to teach Vow, The following list details where a line should be drawn if an experienced player wants to teach someone new, with a plus being a good thing to teach if able, and minus being a bad. + The obelisk tricks to hit all the symbols and find the right obelisk and symbols are useful and beginner friendly if taught, but new lights should try the first encounter legit a few times to get a feel of things before these tricks are broken out. Good for if the fireteam is just a few seconds slower than they should be when hitting the obelisks. - I never heard of killing all the barons just to not call out symbols. If this works, it seems an advanced strat that new raid players should avoid being taught first time. I may be wrong here- I truly don't know. + The symbol trick with the third encounter is quite nice. Can help any fireteam struggling with this encounter (and trust me- some fireteams *struggle*). Same with breaking the blights. Additionally, in the last room, just have the shieldbearer stand on the middle platforms and have the fireteam move to them if they need cleansing instead; this prevents them from falling off a ledge, not getting to anyone in time, and generally puts them in a very safe position while letting them continue their role effectively. - For the jumping areas before Exhibition and Rhulk, going out of the map's boundary of the jumping portions will leave players waiting at the doors in the back, as all six players need to be present for the doors to open. If skippers go ahead with boundary breaks or skating and start the encounters, people cannot rally and you need a team wipe to get the banner. Some people don't care if they are dragged along since they just want loot, but as a person who tried learning Vow when it was new, this kind of behavior left a bad taste in my mouth since I couldn't learn how to *do* the jumping portions and it wreaked of impatience on part of those skipping along. Wellskate or boundary break when everyone is fine with it- not when people are learning. You had to learn the raid at some point and may have felt this way, too. Blueberries are already learning a lot and the jumping puzzles offer a nice break between encounters. Don't be that guy who rushes. Please... (This only applies to teaching runs- run however you want when playing with experienced people.) - Don't even try quad dunking with new people. Just go double or single dunks. Never heard of this strat either, and the fact a picture had to be drawn to explain how to do this means no new person would begin to understand this. + There is a splitting trick that can help the fireteam if everyone does their jobs correctly that is inferior to quad dunking, but is good for double dunking. The second splitter- assuming both dunkers and splitters shoot their crystals as they appear- will be jumping swiftly between having Leeching force and then losing it as the two dunkers are waiting to get emanating and go to dunk. This will eventually leave a dunker crystal on standby since both dunkers are emanated and the first splitter will just be waiting in the middle. By not having Leeching force, *the second splitter can read and call out the correct obelisks every time.* This basically means ad clearers never have to worry about reading, a dunker can get emanated earlier, and- for the most part- only one person is ever holding onto Leeching for the majority of the encounter's first part, making their role and job easy to perform and understand. I try to teach this or use this whenever I can, even with experienced groups. + The boss damage recommendations for both Rhulk and Caretaker are fantastic. Any experienced team should learn these strats if they haven't already, and taking the extra time to explain this strat to a newer group would be well worth it. Heir Apparent+catalyst can also tank Rhulk very well, with Titans being able to use Actium War Rig to output more damage than they would without. I am guessing Well tanking still outputs more damage with the right setup, but it is still worth mentioning. This is not a video critique, for those who read this and thought so. This is advice for people who may not quite know when too much information is being given while teaching. I have had people try explaining advanced dps or encounter tricks while I was learning a raid and left the encounter or raid more confused than when I entered. There are tiers to raid knowledge and skills: New players should be taught the basics. They continue learning the basics until they are experienced. Experienced players should be taught the tricks in the video to make them masters.

Any sherpa tips for kf or garden especially garden. I allwase have trouble with first timers and we end up having to take care of whatever mechanic they have trouble with after 4 or 5 runs ( I try not to just carry thru unless I can tell they are getting frustrated with themselves for not getting it. )
@anthonygenco5051 Жыл бұрын
@@tripatomz3441 I am in the process of learning the different raids in Destiny 2, and unfortunately KF and Garden- amongst others- still elude me. That being said, when you get to a new encounter, take the time to explain roles and mechanics first and then split people up. If people are pairing/grouping up for an encounter, try to put a vet with a newbie to help ease pressure. Vets can also help answer questions as they arise, even though encounters may get hectic. If the team wipes- which is almost guaranteed when teaching- I suggest taking a moment and just going, "Alright- we wiped, and that's ok. Before we try again, is anyone confused by their role or not sure what they are doing? Any questions, comments or concerns?" Not only do you come off as patient and thoughtful, but it reassures new players that this is just part of the learning process. Blueberries may be shy about not knowing a role/encounter or afraid about being singled out specifically, and may push themselves to learn, only to get burned out because they just didn't understand their role (which may not be your fault- your explanation may have been perfect, but they may have missed vital information or haven't connected the dots yet through repetitive gameplay). Some people may also just be having a bad day and are distracted- and that's alright as long as they do not get angry at others. I felt these ways when first learning Vow, and it stunk. It was only made worse by KWTD fireteams and people who acted toxic. I enjoyed the people who took time and helped more than those who belittled. Eventually people start to "fall into" their roles as they get a better understanding of what they should be doing. Normally by this time it just takes small adjustments and possibly some hand-holding for some players to get them through an encounter. If a person is struggling, maybe move them to another position or switch with another person so you are paired with them. Don't get discouraged if things don't always go well. I have stuck with some fireteams six hours or more and still didn't complete Vow with them. There are also parasitic people who want to be dragged to the finish line to get their shiny raid exotic. Jerks are also a possibility. Don't be afraid to kick those people after warning them, but don't be unreasonable to the point of kicking for any minor infraction. Coaches need to know when to put players on the bench and have to evaluate where people just need help. Don't forget to do breaks for some water, food, or the restroom. Thirst or hunger make people moody and needing the restroom is distracting. Do this about halfway through the raid or around two hours. Sometimes a breather makes all the difference. Good job *not* carrying people through without teaching, by the way. If you can, try to avoid putting new people on ad clear at first and take the role for yourself so you can watch, listen, and evaluate what is going on. If someone gets flustered or is getting burned out, just place them on ad clear and take their position. This can't happen with every encounter in every raid since ad clear may have other duties or just doesn't functionally exist, but that is how it goes sometimes. I know this isn't the detailed answer I gave before, nor is it as neatly organized, though I hope something useful comes from it. You're doing a kind thing helping people through raids, and it is appreciated. Side note: If you have trouble with any other raids and you and the people you were teaching had spare time, try doing a "raid trade" where they teach you a parts of another raid you may be confused or inexperienced about. It doesn't have to be the full raid- since that could take a while- but at least then you are also getting something out of it. This also helps avoid toxic KWTD fireteams and players, as you will have a good idea of the other people's personalities by this point and will know if you want these people teaching you.

For your part about the quad dunking. Llama made it extremely convoluted. Think of it likes this. anyone should shoot any crystal at any time, at all times. If you shot left crystal, your now a dunker. If you shot right, your now a splitter… The whole reason the convention was made for dunkers to shoot left was because dunkers will always have the buff and be able to read the symbols on the ‘left’ side. And as you said the splitters who shoot right, have more opportunities to read ‘right’ symbols and call dunk locations.
@anthonygenco5051 Жыл бұрын
@@beni1429 So quad dunking basically equates to: Everyone who is not a dedicated splitter becomes a dunker, with everyone shooting their respective crystals at all times?
@beni1429 Жыл бұрын
@@anthonygenco5051 nope. Quad dunking just means you get 2 emanates from the first beam, and an extra 4 emanates from the second beam (quad). Instead of 2 emanates each time across 3 beams. Saves a beam worth of time. What I had replied with before is just a simple explanation of how to split the crystal up fast and efficiently, without using a confusing diagram… basically, if you don’t have a buff, always try to shoot a crystal -> if you shot right your now splitting, if you shot left your now dunking. (There might be 4 people trying to shoot the same crystal) then after the first dunk all you need is 4 leeching and they all get beamed (3 extra splits)

You technically explained only half of the delayed rhulk dunk strat. The fastest way to do it is delay to shoot first, get E and dunk the first one instantly causing rhulk to stagger and skip a beam. But ofc for lfg runs just waiting to dunk is good enough I just thought this was worth mentioning.

Things missed: 1. Trio strat for relics (very important) 2. All skips 3. I personally disagree with running on 2nd but this is just my opinion 1. Hold onto nut in waiting room but depo other relics straight away, wait out relic holders curbed resonance and deopsit nut, this resets terminal res to 1min15s no matter what time you put it in (latest you can depo is 2s) 2. Watch Woodzy's full vow skip if intrested 3. I think caretaker runners even on master/challenge should be running swords to ensure speed this is because quicker you are the longer 1st plate dps you have basically. Also, from experience, me (300clrs) and a buddy (800clrs) have tried both methods and find running in at same time on 1st room is quickest and letting player 1 grab the closest ones and go in twice simce there are usually 3 at leadt around mid

In Exhibition, if your team is fast enough on some of the rooms, the non-nut relic holders can deposit their relic quickly and then pick it back up after their cool down has ended and the nut person deposits the nut. This is similar to the "kill yourself" bit Llama mentioned, but it just takes advantage of any extra time you have while saving your revives. Not ideal for "speed runs" but great for Sherpas if you have at least a few solid players who can manage the same relic room to room.
