I love water bottles as a metaphor for "advertiser friendly", not only in the connotation of completely plain and unobjectionable, but also because water bottles specifically are associated with some of corporations most heinous and unconscionable acts of incredible cruelty. The corporate death squads that kill people trying to protect their water rights. The pollution being dumped into waterways all over the world because of a lack of regulation or oversight. The literal unimaginable amount of plastic being dumped into our oceans on a daily basis, and microplastics in the bloodstream of every single living creature on the planet. The water is a metaphor for your life. They own it.

I was thinking "why water bottles?" The entire video but I have a couple theories 1. Water bottles are the most plain thing there is and therefore most marketable. The easiest thing to digest is the most profitable for advertisers 2. Bottled water is a sign of gross consumerism in that this natural resource which we all need to survive is being sold to us. It is an expectation to buy it, not an exception. Then these bottles lay in waste in landfills just another sign of gradual decay. Whether it be advertisements, products, etc. These big businesses and firms, are not looking out for our wellbeing. 3. Just because

'KZbin' in this context probably refers more to the KZbin staff than the platform itself. It's possible that a few people in the upper echelons of KZbin are the same child-eating demons that run the rest of society (for now), but most of them probably aren't evil - they're just people working for an increasingly inadequate paycheck and trying to meet what must be millions of minute and oftentimes draconian demands and contract requirements every single day. So the KZbin avatar in the video - a sleazy-sounding yet affable guy midway between a conman and a hapless employee - serves as a reasonably accurate representation of KZbin HQ as a collective. The *void* is probably meant to be the KZbin platform: a cold, tenebrous abyss with no soul or humanity, that you can only ever see a tiny fragment of because it's likely grown too big to control or even maintain. All it seeks is efficiency. It's a machine designed to make money and perpetuate itself. Human creativity is its fuel, and burnout and demonitization are its exhaust. Its voice - its only means of expression, is the algorithm, acting as arbiter of what is and isn't popular based off mostly unknowable criteria. Nigh omnipotent, yet shackled by its creators. A silicon god gone mad, judging the few as worthy and damning the rest, only to change its decree a moment later, without end. KZbin is a fucking eldritch horror and its staff are the clueless cult of mooks being tricked into helping it conquer the world. Change my mind.

I’m such a fan of the series, I got Paul tatted on my elbow as of a few years ago and I get asked about him all the time and get to point people to the series when they ask. They all find it both hilarious and disturbing but not one person has failed to tell me that they love the series by the end. “It’s f’d up but I love it.” Is usually what I get 😂😂. I quote my favorite lines all the time (My #1 is “My stomach was making the rumblies that only hands could satisfy”). The way things have been going with content creating platforms and so much biased censorship, I am so delighted to see this video rebelling against the dystopian insanity. Reality, often times, is far more horrifying than any fiction. Llamas with Hats has brought me joy for so many years in times when I was down, making me laugh, and challenging me to think things could always be worse. KZbin absolutely sucks now, but I’m so glad to see some creators are sticking to their convictions of creating creative content instead of cucking over to the evil KZbin overlords 🙄🤣💪🏽!

I think it's really fitting that Llamas With Hats of all series was used for this. Sure, they never planned for the series to get demonetized, but the whole theme of stifled creativity in favor of mass appeal is kind of what LWH became about halfway through. I remember watching the original Llamas with Hats when I was younger. I think I was maybe 10 or 12 at the time. It was pretty early on in my internet journey, as my parents kept me pretty far away from things they feared were too "mature" (Things like the Wampa cave scenes in Empire and Regular Show), and was therefore one of the first pieces of art I ever experienced that could be described as "dark and disturbing tm." Until then, I thought the internet was just videos about Bionicle hypothetically returning and flash games on the Cartoon Network website. It stirred something within me. For something advertised as funny llama show, it became this weird, surreal, extremely artistic work that gave me weird, confusing feelings. Most of the art I had seen up to that point could be easily described as traditional, family friendly fun times. Llamas with Hats was something different, something transgressive. And, while I still mostly experienced art that was traditional, I never forgot the distinct feeling I felt in watching this series. It made me seek out art that was transgressive. Not in the ways that this show was violent or had dark jokes, but the weird pit I felt in watching the final episodes and wasn't given a distinct, clean answer on how I should feel about it. And I did find more art like this, whether it be in some art classes or in finding it on the internet. And, in doing so, it has made me think more about my world view and who I am outside of what the world I was born into says about me. However, as the internet has become more corporate in it's design, even moreso than when I watched it originally. And this piece, I feel, as many others have said, quickly and succinctly cuts into how that taints art. It stops it from being able to touch on those ideas that may be transgressive, a word I find myself overusing in this piece, but only because it is the only word that comes to mind. I feel that in this sensitized world, one that doesn't allow weird art like this, like many of the other pieces of art I've found myself gravitating towards, people like me might not be able to find themselves the way I have at least partially done for myself. So thank you, Llamas with Hats, for making me a better person, a person who I wish my younger self could look up to and see everything turns out ok. For teaching me that a world where weird stuff is ok, where it's fine to not be sure how to feel about a show featuring silly llamas in silly hats. I might have gotten a little too serious and personal in a comment on a video made as, essentially, making fun of KZbin, but it was the first thing that came to mind. Good video. I'll be [GETTING MY WATER BOTTLES AT A REASONABLE TIME] now, if you don't mind.
