For 103 years Labour has been elected to represent the town of Llanelli, but that nearly changed at the last election. Reform UK ran the party close, coming within 1,504 votes of taking the seat.
But why did such a strong Labour seat nearly turn to Reform, The i paper's Chief News Correspondent David Parsley went to find out.

I live in Llanelli, the people are welcoming and friendly, Prince Philip Minor Injury Unit is very good but it is sad to see how run down the town centre is and Labour take it for granted they will rule. Investment in the town is negligible and the Special Needs School project has just been cancelled when sorely needed. Too much is loaded onto the council while the Welsh government spend all the money on vanity projects. The 20mph farce could have paid for that school outright with change to spare. If our taxes can’t cover our State Pensions Why are we spending Billions on illegals who haven’t paid a penny into the system. Nobody in their right mind would allow such craziness to continue. That’s like a mother with 3 children inviting an unlimited number of strangers into her home and taking care of the strangers while ignoring the needs of her own children. Not really. If you are not listened to by the local MP, they become your enemy. Therefore the enemy of your enemy is your friend. Labour really should take heed but in Wales they do whatever they like. They forget they are supposed to work for us not against us. I hope Reform do take the seat next time, it might give Labour the kick up the arse they need.

Nia talks of "tory cuts to the Welsh budget, but what little money they do get they fritter away of their stupid projects...implementing the 20 mph speed limit, de-implementing the 20 mph speed limit, extra money for migrants on top of what UK give them, etc. Meanwhile...cuts to Welsh nhs. Not sure Reform party is the answer, but its about time Wales woke up and stopped voting Labour & held them accountable for mismanaging our finances.

The hotel was owned by multimillionaire Ron Jones who also owns the Tinopolis Group. He is from Llanelli so maybe you should take it up with him and not the people staying at the hotel fleeing war. A quick anecdote for how much him and his mates care. Many years ago I worked for Tinipolis and each executive was given a top of the range Mercedes to drive. One executive didn't like the colour so they had to sell the car back to a dealership in exchange for the one they want making a loss of a few thousand pounds for the company. Tinooolis makes its money from tax payer funded projects and then invests into international media companies for a nice return. They pay and treat their staff like shit and make fun of the people of llanelli who walk past their studios everyday for being "druggies".

Are they all fleeing from a war? Even the Albanian ones? Even the Indian ones? Even the Vietnamese ones? While SOME are genuine refugees we have to accept that a number are economic migrants who have no right to be in the UK.

‘To think they are going to take a migrant back to France, and France is going to say, “oh, yes, the shore is this way.”’ And yet that is exactly what the French did a few weeks when a migrant boat was returned to them. The only lunatic here is the young man in the red fleece who believes things aren’t done because they're impossible rather than the lack of political will to do them.

A good job going begging (local dentist). A local woman without the qualifications to fill that role planning to go abroad in desperation. Someone fleaing from abroad in desperation and being housed in the town and being not allowed to work their idle presence contributes to a ‘rough’ ambiance. A qualified dentist from abroad is put off from moving to the town to fill the vacancy. I don’t blame the individuals - I blame the governments management of asylum processing and education

When the pro-immigration people say that immigrants enhance our culture, what exactly do they mean? I don't recall any of the boat people producing any timeless sonnets recently. "Food and music," is invariably the go-to response, as though onion bhajis, hip hop, and egg fried rice are a suitable trade for our heritage, identity, and national sense of belonging.

The root cause in this country should be tackled . The Mainstream Media have a lot to answer for. They & the Politicians are the very ones that should be pinning Stammer down, Demanding answers. Starting with 1)Do we still live in a democracy? If No - Can he explain when was that right revoked and buy who? Did the British Public actually agree to this? 2)What are his actual policies? 3) What is his overall agenda? People need to realise all this stuff, if he is to continue serving us as Prime Minister. We need clarity from him. Only mainstream media and those in Westminster, (that we elected can do this) . People Pressure must be put on them, so they start representing us. The ball is in their Court

Why do you label Voice of Wales “far right”? From what I’ve come to find these days is anyone who isn’t Labour is generally called “far right” It’s simply a word to demonise someone who doesn’t share the authorised opinion at this point surely. Frankly I find it extremely rude that you interview my country men and women who are unaware that you’re about to label them as “far right” in your video (I’m referring to the people in the town that admitted they voted reform). Dirty bait and switch tactics you’re no better than the BBC towing the company line and ignoring the people for an easy pay

Wales received substantial funding from the EU but voted to leave in the Brexit referendum, largely due to promises around immigration control. Since then, integration and economic issues have only worsened, yet people continue to vote for the same populists who encouraged the wrong solutions. It's clear that most are being misled or fooled. I have great sympathy for the clever and reasonable Welsh people I met during my stay there.
