I ran the 76 hand through a top highstakes GTO reg and they came to pretty different conclusions than you. 76 shouldn't be a bluff candidate. Q8 and Q9 were the highest frequencies, which makes a lot more sense imo. I guess you and they may be using different preflop ranges. Nice videos, by the way! 100% right on the cosmic connection with the universe :')

Thanks for watching and your comment! In the ICM model Q8 and Q9 (and I believe K8 and K9) were the highest bluff frequencies but for some reason were showing negative EV in my sim. When I removed ICM pio was bluffing more with 7x, but tbh I was surprised by that. I would have also thought straight blockers would be better bluff candidates. I should note that in both sims, pio was definitely not raising a majority of the time with 7x and advised that raising 7x was inferior to calling. I should have made that more clear.

Hey man, amazing vids your doing. I really like what you said at the end about most players at the highest level are using a mix of GTO and exploitive play. Even Doug Polk includes exploitive factors a lot, and Charlie Carrel has admitted to using GTO theories to have a solid fundamental strategy. It's more which side of the blend they lean towards and not likeing other players trash talking one extreme of the game, so they choose to represent the other side. In actuality, nothing in this world is completely black and white. Balance is key, especially in poker when balancing your GTO fundamentals to exploitive play.

I compare it to playing blackjack,you use basic strategy (ie GTO poker) to learn fundamentals and to lessen the casino edge to almost 0%,then for different rules and promotions you tweak the strategy a bit to get a slight edge.Then you card count and stray from basic strat even further based on the count. A pro poker player will have a variety of weapons just like a pro card counter

I love seeing the minbet on the KK hand. It's something I've been experimenting with when I have a board absolutely crushed. People feel silly folding to a min bet so they tend to spazz vs it. Seeing someone as good as Llinus using it makes me feel really good about my thought process.

@@gastonangelini8352 I'm a fan of solvers but our opponents aren't solvers. As Charlie did in this clip, people see that bet and don't think "what's the GTO response to it" they think "WTF, a minbet? I can't fold to that but I have nothing so I'll raise." I think people learn about solver strategy and forget that the game is played by imperfect people and sometimes you should make plays based off human tendencies.

Interesting tells: Of the four hands, in the first two hands when Loeliger flops top pair he looks up at the clock and waits before betting whereas in the last two with bottom pair he bets out more quickly. In other words, when he is strong he pretends to be weak and when he is weak he pretends to be strong. The only hand that Carrel is solid is at the end. In this case he bets it hard and then puts his hands over his mouth to hide any facial tells that he is enjoying the moment. This is the only time he does this. In other words, Carrel enjoys putting his opponent on edge by bluffing and smiles when he does so but when he isn't bluffing he wants to hide the joy, that in fact he has a real edge.

For linus to call w/ 76o to be +EV, carrel would need to have a plethora of bluffs at a similar frequency to the solver. Furthermore, in general, most players seldom have bluff frequencies akin to a solver. Ofc humans are only capable of replicating solvers to a certain degree but imo if he was to just call in that situation it'd be -EV and maybe why he elected to shove. This isn't to discredit solvers but being balanced an indifferent against a player way out of balance requires mitigation.

What an amazing video, thanks so much. I don't think the bluff raise river range in the last hand with ICM enabled is necessarily a bug, notice the EV difference between call and raise bluff of 76o is bigger with ICM. Solvers often tolerate playing with negative EV in order to balance their value, otherwise they would only have value and they would be prone to exploitation if opponent never bluff catch. The trick here might be that the difference between raising and folding with KQo = -2100ish is bigger than the difference between calling and raising 76o = -4500ish. so solver chooses to lose the least in order to balance value range and remain unexploitable. Notice in non-ICM, difference in EV of calling and raising 76o is much smaller, making it a better bluff candidate. Also i am absolutely flabbergasted by solver choosing a pure 100% raise river with KK in non-ICM scenario. WTF is even that? a value? wth does charlie carrel float, bet on the turn and then bet/call river that is beaten by KK? and he needs enough of these combos to compensate all the times KK gets value cut. a bluff? he doesn't block anything. a triple range merge?

Linus definitely didn't have enough behind to fold out anything Charlie was value betting. The odds behind mean it shouldn't be a bluff for the player who has to call which is why Charlie looks disgusted as he calls expecting to see a hand like 107 or 106 raising 1.4 million giving Charlie ridic odds when there's 5.7 million in the pot and he has to call 1.4 more. but this move would work much better in a cash game and is a solver preferred bluff candidate on a paired board, a move that goes back to Doug Polk several years ago trying to fold Antonius off a straight in a similar spot. I mean there are people out there good and competent enough to remember what the solver says they should do in certain spots but I cannot imagine a solver would ever recommend to bluff here with any frequency that is relevant to this spot.

How is GTO even achievable? The theory sounds great but your math cannot be anything less than perfect to execute GTO. Computers that play trillions of hands against itself arent even executing "Game Theory Optimal" correctly. Solving is a bit of an overstatement to a game this complex.
@FindingEquilibrium
@FindingEquilibrium 5 жыл бұрын
It's true that the solvers generally do not solve all the way to the equilibrium strategy and that many assumptions are required for the solves which you will not have in a real-life setting (e.g. knowing your opponent's exact range and strategies). However, that being said, the solutions are accurate enough where they can be immensely helpful to understand what the fundamentally optimal strategies are given the assumptions, even if the assumptions are not 100% true. Although not perfect, solvers are far superior to human intuition or experience when it comes to devising optimal strategies. There is a reason why solvers and bots are banned by most poker sites.

This happens for instance when you see that opponent's hands all of a sudden starts to shaking when making a bet. I am all for GTO but it's not fair to make fun of reads like you did when he bluffraised flop vs topset.

@Finding Equilibrium Does it makes sense to propose a 25% Cbet sizing for Charlie? (Iirc Pio likes this sizing on this structure?)

I dont have this board exactly, but I have "Qs8s2d", and I've seen that Pio liked this sizing... Not used a lot, what do u think?

Loeniger is basically representing pockets 77's or 66's since he has 1 of both wich could take this line and it makes sense, could easily have mad at least A highs fold, so it was a good play imo even tho he got called. Good analysis.

Se Loeliger bettava 2000000 al river avrebbe rappresentato un bluff o un draw mancato. E forse Carrel avrebbe chiamato.
