I LOVE these rarities! That 504 simply oozes quality and style! I find it a breath of fresh air (pun intended, being a cabriolet 😊).

Always loved the beautiful Pininfarina styling of these Peugeots, these days I'm indifferent to Peugeot products but this era of cars made them desirable. I had a little brochure from the motor show with models going from 104 to 604, all the cars looked amazing back then and I liked the complete range.
@lloydvehicleconsulting5 ай бұрын
Yes, the styling of this was rather nice, wasn't it? Peugeots are very different these days, but back in the 1970s, they seem to have enjoyed something of a golden age, and this lasted until around the year 2000. Thank you again for watching, sir!

The dashboard id BEAUTIFUL, and has everything where you NEED it to be. The robots, as opposed to humans, who seem to design the interiors today, can't complete!

The right hand drive Cabriolets involved cutting up the left hand drive dashboard, so definitely not designed by robots!

I have been saving this most beautiful of cars for a relaxing and enjoyable review. As predicted it did not disappoint.. My Cousin Niall owns one but as yet I haven't been able to see it with its cover removed but it is Summer now so I look forward to a visiting Niall. What I do know is that my Father traded his wonderful 1973 Triumph 2000 Saloon for a new Dark Green Metallic Peugeot 504 1.8 Family Estate from Gowan Garages in 1975, registration AIW 6641. A genuine 8 seater that carried even 10 passengers sometimes. The wheels and tyres were as big as a Ford Transit Van on the Family estate, Michelin XZS Tyres of course. More than worthy of a Tweed Jacket Review Sir, thank you.
@lloydvehicleconsulting2 ай бұрын
Sir, the 504 Familiale was absolutely ridiculous. It's sort of strange to think that these actually shared the same platform as they look completely different. Mr Bill did a good job putting this together, as the driving section was filmed a month apart from the main video.

Thank you for this video. The Peugeot 504 - in all shapes and forms - was the most stylish, innovative and durable car of the 1970s. Seen another channel that covered the 307 Convertible. How did Peugeot go from this to that? Probably after getting rid of the Italian designers.

Sir, this rare 504 was a delight the second time round. The other versions were quite different, this was probably the best looking.

My Dad had a 504 saloon 2.0Ltr and unusual gear shift as apparently it was a design conversion from column to floor, slight dog leg from 3rd to 4th and so easy to go 2nd to 3rd and end up in 1st with sudden halt letting the clutch up 😳 But I saw one of those in Pilkingtons (Peageot) showroom Being confused at 15 as I thought the front end was very 604 which did have a V6 as it was very similar to a mk2 Granada.. never seen a 504 cabriolet in person but have seen the smaller 304 that was a nice shape in the 70’s… 😊
@lloydvehicleconsulting5 ай бұрын
I think the very early 504s had a column change, from memory. The gearbox in this one was not the nicest to use, being biased around first and second rather than third and fourth like most cars, and having a fairly long throw, but I did eventually get used to it... The 604 was quite different, wasn't it?
@patrickh73685 ай бұрын
@@lloydvehicleconsulting I saw a fairly recent “series” where Anna Friel was an American soldier in a desert…. there were 504 saloons being driven around still… 😳 Dads had the seats where a huge head restraint retracted to leave a more familiar low back seat of those times… MWE987K ooh and even modern day manual gearbox’s wouldn’t go smoothly into 1st at 30mph like that one did, luckily back then folk drove looking through the windscreen so no one ever hit the rear bumper on those odd times the shift was 1st not 3rd 😳

The colour combo really helps it. So many in a steel grey paint. Burgundy over cream and a massive massive wheel. And it’s a wood wheel. What’s not to like. Galic flair when the French were creative and not under a wing of a capitalism umbrella company.
@lloydvehicleconsulting5 ай бұрын
It looks just right, I think. Peugeot were still independent at the time, and had yet to merge with Citroen. The wooden steering wheel is not standard, but it looks fantastic.
