This car came to me with the gearbox going into safe mode when hot... when cold, would drive absolutely fine.
After reading the codes, P0716 and P07BF, and look at some live data, was clear that was not possible to do much more without getting my hands dirty... so, after a bit of digging, problem found!
Not an easy job, but definitely doable...

Just for reference - I had a car come to me with the same fault of SEVERE JURKING / CLUNKING when selecting from reverse - drive or drive - reverse car drove fine in all other gears & NO LIGHT on A mate who worked for Vauxhall UPDATED the gearbox ECU & it was fixed He said that there was a bulletin for the gearbox update - on the vauxhall system So if you ever have the same but with NO LIGHT it could be the update I was guessing it was the update - all the way until you showed the broken wires !! There used to be a vauxhall that had the ecu mounted directly on the engine, it was notorious for breaking multiple of there thing wires because of vibrations

Louis that was a nice educated lucky guess. I have never seen gel encapsulation in such an area. Why do they(continental) use gel instead of hard epoxy potting? What I can see from the broken wire it was a fatigue damage(vibration load) what could be avoided with hard epoxy potting. I think it is a non repairable item so make no sense to be transparent. Also a big fat heat spreader under the PCBA can do its job without gel potting as well. Do you know any gel potting material? I am curious how long your soldering last in such a vibrational environment... I was also surprised that you could solder it without degreasing after the gel ... I am almost sure this is a design issue and many owners can suffer from it...

This type of gell it is used in many similar applications... I have videos on other systems with the same stuff... When soldered this way and with copper wire, it is usually a safe connection... It is the aluminium wire that tends to fail... 👍👍👍
