Maic Salazar just did a video on a BMW Z4 convertible not opening. Turned out to be something simple like the parcel tray being in the up position and not the down. Driving a convertible in the UK means you're an eternal optimist lol

Nice repair, coincidentally I had exactly the same incident yesterday on my e90. Some genius had worked on the passenger door and installed the door loom with a 180 degree twist. This meant the loom was not where it should be and the door stay was sawing through the loom causing the handle LED to stop working 🙄. Lucky I caught it when I did as it was chopping through the large window motor wires too..

Hi, I've been watching your videos for a while in order to figure out how to fix some stuff on my E93. The hardtop got stuck in "Service position" as I was cleaning and moisturizing the rubber seals and lubed the joints. Then I had to manually put it down, with the help of a friend. Instead of using long bent nose pliers like any tutorial shows, my friend used an oil filter remover "wrench" and somehow managed to pull and force those Coupling hydraulic cylinders in and off we went, car was good. The roof never worked since as the motor was knackered. New motor installed, pumping into nothingness :/ Finally, saw that the micro switches for the "Interlocking ring buckle closed" were on "Yes" in the meantime, whilst they were supposed to be on "No". Further investigation, the tiny metal pieces are now bent and one of the plastic lever arms is broken so the microswitches don't get activated and hence, the roof doesn't work. Do you have any advice on how to proceed further? Each entire side, costs about £150 to be bought second hand, just for the broken plastic arm. Cheers

​@@LMAutoRepairs I managed to find a breaking ad from someone that was willing to take them apart and i picked them up. Took almost 2 hours to install as I had to lift the top manually and close it down afterwards, to have access and replace them on the car. Works now!

Thanks for this video. We had same vehicle in for same problem: inop trunk via remote and button, inop top. Able to power trunk lid open, fault for trunk partition. Damage to wiring in left rear same area, except ours was caused by a damaged left rear shock mount that let the shock extend into the trunk and went right through the wiring harness. Multiple damaged and severed wiring. Preparing his estimate as I write this; hopefully I can trick the sensor into believing the trunk lid and partition is closed so we can open the top enough to access the wiring better. Excellent video, and thank you.

That was a great repair Luis . I know from experience that it are tricky things those convertible roofs . Good thinking at the end when the roof was not closing . Who knows how long that roof hasn´t been used so lubricating every moving bit was the right thing to do . The frustration when the roof opened and didn´t close I fully understand . I would use some " working words " as well .

Extreme investigate,found problem on deep under and then fix it.of course the main reason was owner didn't make maintance of the roof robot on time then someone made a bad repair before you.was an easy fix for you thanks for sharing with us

I got same problem on a 1 series convertible- red light flashing above roof open button, when you press it wi dows drop and motor starts making noise however roof does not move. Upon releasing the button a red roof icon comes up on the instrument cluster. If i try pressing roof close button the windows do not go back up but the motor still makes noise. My autel doesnt show any error codes. Boot is stuck and can only be opened with physical key. Any ideas?

Thank you for the video bro! excellent troubleshooting. I have a similar issue with my top. supposedly the dealer replaced the footwell and told that the top needs to be resync in order for it to work again. they want to keep my car for a week for repairs. not sure if this is true. the main problem is getting to the dealer. I live about 100 miles away.

I have rhe same problem....roof either won't fully open or close. I had to keep trying to open and close until eventually it closed, but dare not try to open again...the fault is erratic. Do you think lubricating everything that you did was definitely the solution to the problem? I don't get any faults showing on my very basic fault code reader perhaps something more sophisticated might identify the problem what do you think

So we have been working hard on this day and night top closes 80% and then dresses up and stays blinking red. We reset it by manually putting top in truck .. and when we start again everything looks awesome and then it stops 80% and we get the error code cowl panel micro switch unlocked , replaced the micro switch! Still having issues we been working on this to the late night hours and no go. We have been voltage testing all components let me know your thoughts 🙏

Where would you start to look for wiring cowl panel? It works perfect up till about 80% and then it stops randomly and then computer says cowl micro switch unlocked and then goes into frezze models and then we can't make it work again unless we do a manual reset and clear the codes...
