When I was like 15, I had an accident with my motorcycle, I was not driving fast though, but I lost control of it, and I fell down directly on my right elbow, and I felt so much pain, Unfortunately I didn't go to the doctor to check, my elbow and arm start healing though so I was feeling normal...but after time, I noticed that I couldn't rotate easily and fully my right elbow, or I'm having a very hard time to rotate all of it, I can use it fine, I didn't feel any pain or anything like that, but then after a few years, I start feeling some pain in that area, and I still do feel some pain from time to time..., when I touch my elbow it feels like the bottom bone of it is like so much out..like it's visible, it's out of it's normal place...I feel like when I fell down back time my bone moved out a bit from it's place...My dad took me to a specialist doctor a long time ago, and he checked me out and saw everything in the radio and he said that he couldn't do anything for it, the only thing he can do is a surgery and he needs to break my bone to fix it or put it on it's place...and in that moment I felt so sad and disappointed...Is there any way I can fix it without a surgery or without breaking my bone? I can move my arm in almost every way, sometimes if I move it in a different way I hear something cracked up in my elbow but it's not hurting. :( I hope I described my issue correctly so you can understand what I am talking about.

Unfortunately, it sounds like you did have a significant fracture that healed with complications. I suspect your options are those presented by the specialist. Even than it might not be a guaranteed success.

Goodday Doc. I got a question, i dislocated my elbow 18 years ago,and now I just bend my elbow 45 degrees, is there any possibility for me to get it back through operation?

Would a bicep full of remifentanil be a candidate for pre-reduction palliation, and the 'during and after phases of the procedure??

As it is reduced, is there any risk of any major vessels/nerves / branches of them getting stuck in between the joint space once reduced?? Soft tissue even?
@lmellick3 жыл бұрын
It is rare in posterior dislocations for brachial artery, median or ulnar nerve injury to occur. However, the rare anterior dislocations are more at risk for neurovascular injury.

My elbow was dislocated about 14 years ago. Now it is still dislocated but can do all work. Is there any chance to locate my elbow properly at this time?

Damn 14 years? Are you an octopus 🐙? How the heck didn’t your arm look like spaghetti noodles?

Same here, about 11 years ago. The deformity is visible but my mobility is as good as my normal arm. Would it still be possible to get it back to normal?

Can an elbow dislocation make a person more susceptible to future dislocations, even long term? Several years ago I carried a couple bundles of water bottles to my dorm room all in one trip. It was heavy and I'm not particularly strong. I had my elbows at my sides, my forearms extending straight ahead of me, palms up, with the water bottle trays resting on my forearms. When I finally put them down, one of my elbows wouldn't extend without a great deal of resistance and pain. When I finally, slowly, worked through the pain and extended my arm past that range of resistance, there was an audible pop and everything was alright, with a little bit of temporary soreness. Since then, my elbow gets like that sometimes. Fortunately it doesn't require manipulation by another person to resolve it. I'm not sure what it is. Dislocation, an unruly tendon, or something else.

Adults can get a "nursemaid elbow" too. Maybe that is what you had.

Which is the most common elbow (or other) dislocation you see in ‘suspicious’ pediatric cases?
@lmellick3 жыл бұрын
Good question. Any elbow dislocation/fracture would be suspicious in a non-ambulating infant. And, ambulating toddlers falling from 2 feet would generally not get this fracture.

I’m assuming the pt would be under conscious sedation or would a joint/hematoma block suffice?
@lmellick3 жыл бұрын
Procedural sedation is usually required.

Nice that they sent it for a trial. Normally medical training equipment is super expensive and you don't get to trial it. Looks like a decent arm analog.

interesting to see what happens in the joint. With even more realistic model we could have transparent fake skin to see and feel how it should work out. Unfortunately action movies depict unrealistic "DIY fixing" that might cause problems.
