when my academy class graduated one guy had a graduation party put together that night by his friends and family, the party got loud, the police arrived, one of the graduates friends called the responding officers " pigs", the officers made a phone call to the graduates potential Captain to tell him about the incident, graduate was notified that he was fired...4 hours after graduating

Also a lot of random sh*t happens. Chance occurrences etc. Especially when alcohol is involved. And alcohol is socially acceptable to consume. Especially when celebrating life achievements or milestones. Many of us have driven under the influence (to some degree) but since we didn’t get caught we are better than those that do. Does that make it right for this guy to drink and drive? No it does not but he wasn’t on the clock. What would be so wrong about letting him serve his time without further punishment? It’s ironic for a “correctional” institution to assume people cannot change.
@David_K_pi

@@orangedrone - Nope! As a police officer, he has to be held to a higher standard. If he is let off with a slap on the wrists, what message does that send to the rest of the population. He knew better; they taught him better at the police academy. And now he showed that he was not actually fit for the job. I feel bad for him and can't imagine what he is going through right now, but it's his own fault. The one good thing about this incident is that maybe others will learn from it.

After a full day of training at the Baltimore City Police Academy (back in 1974) just days before graduation, I stood at an open window and was looking outside. Suddenly I noticed a classmate standing to my rear with his service weapon pointed at my temple. He had a crazed look in his eyes. I calmly persuaded him to put the weapon down while others looked on in amazement. He then appeared to come out of his trance. Next day I reported the incident and he was immediately terminated. Prior to entering the Academy, he had completed service in the Vietnam War and was suffering from that experience.

Great job in losing your career and embarrassing the badge. You can dwell on it for the rest of your life at your old job. "What could have been." Every time you see an officer out in public, you can say to yourself, "That was my dream job. I had it, I graduated from the academy, and I was ready to serve." What, all 6-8 weeks of it? 😂. In the E.U and UK it’s 2-3 years of training, then 2 years of probation. To be an armed response officer (in the UK), it’s 12 additional months of training, and that’s after a MINIMUM of being in the job for 5 years with a clean record. And if you fail the course? Well, you can never be an armed response officer… at all. Ohhh and every 12 months you have to be recertified, which takes 2 weeks of practical, written and psychological testing; again, if you fail then you can’t be an armed response officer. So yeah, I bet your training was “brutal” 😂🤣☠️.

I work on cruise ship bands and after awhile we just start to hate our life because we play the same songs every cruise and get so drunk while we play nothing seems to matter anymore. Our contracts start out fun during the honeymoon phase and then after awhile it just becomes boring and monotonous to work on a ship, and so I thought it was extra hilarious when we had a saxophone player join the ship to begin his contract and he was given a tour of the ship, shown where the band stand is where we play every night, and then was shown his cabin and within 15 minutes of getting to his cabin he went and resigned from the company after months of preparations. To join a ship, you have to first audition and get the gig through an agency, then do a ship medical which is quite strict and sometimes involves multiple doctors testing multiple things, then you have to get your passport or ensure its valid for a year+, then you have to practice the music and prepare some stuff and plan your life around it, then you have to fly to a remote part of the world to join your ship which for me at least seems to always be on the other side of the globe....and dude just showed up and quit immediately. Just like this police officer. Getting it all out before day 1 is sometimes a good play. Saves time and stress.

This is what happens when salary and work-conditions are sh*t. The only people to apply for the job are the ones that can`t get a better one and you have to work with the leftovers. Add lower hiring standarts (because quotas, and because without lowering them you wouldn`t be able to hire enough cops with the conditions you offer) and a miserable training (because a propper training costs money, too) and it is a miracle how many profesional cops are out there. If not for the people who do it because they feel the call to serve (wich are less and less, everyday) this would be (and will eventually become) the jungle

@@tlwisner He wasn't born on his graduation day. He obviously did a lot of crimes in his past that went unnoticed or ignored. It just goes to show that the screening process for new cadets is terrible.

@@Ricogrime You ask for those in authority to be held to a higher standard. In fact, they are unless they are higher up elected officials. Police officers are held to a higher standard by their departments for the most part. I get it, maybe you hate police because you got a DUI, speeding ticket, or something else you don't accept responibility for. So many people have not taken the time or made the effort to actually learn about their local police forces - instead getting all of their knowledge from the Internet.

@@Accrovideogames How is it obvious that his past is full of crimes? Your all knowing Internet wisdom is a bit shallow. You may be right but most likely there were background checks before he was given a badge.
