Vikings 4x11 Reaction Part 2

fair warning, there is a lot of crying here. also, we finished vikings but i'll talk more about that after i talk about 4x11
i know some people don't like that and that's fine but i don't know how anyone could keep a dry eye in this episode.
again there are two parts to this episode cause there was a lot of scenes we wanted to include, so the description is gonna be copied to both parts.
please don't read the rest of the description if you're not caught up
i was editing this last night at 3am and i was again crying, especially now, knowing what i know.
i was also trying to figure out why we were both getting so emotional with ragnars scenes and i think it had a lot to do with the fact that we felt like he fell from fame, and that people looked at him very differently now than they did before. before he was a legend and everyone admired him and after paris it felt like everyone lost faith in him and realized he was just a man and not a god, so i think that's the reason we were very emotional and protective over him in this episode and in the episodes to come.
this episode was the episode where we actually believed he was gonna die soon, i know we talked about it during this season but in the back of our minds i don't think we ever really believed it, and then this episode happened and those scenes between floki and him and lagertha and him felt very final, so that's when it hit us. don't worry we went back into denial the next day, right before we started watching 4x15 we said we were exaggerating which is funny now... i don't know, i just feel like i had to elaborate more on why this was a very emotional episode for us.
now, the two most important scenes in this episode and two of our overall favorite scene of this show were his last scene with floki and his last scene with lagertha.
his relationship with floki is truly one of the most important of the show to us, it was so complex and at times we hated it, i mean you saw our reaction to season 3, we hated floki, we couldn't believe what he did. everything makes sense to us and in the end it made such a better story and development of the character and that relationship, finally hearing ragnar say to him 'i love you' is one of my favorite moments on television, it's the perfect last scene between two people who had so much history.
i don't even know where to start with the lagertha scene. you can clearly see how much we lost it there. it's no secret to anyone that their relationship is our favorite relationship of the show. it's one of the most specific relationships i ever watched. vikings never was about romance, it always showed the complicated part of relationships and theirs was very flawed. but that's what made it so special to us, at times they both wanted to kill the other one with their bare hands but at no point did they lose that love and respect for each other and through 4 season that has been one of the most beautiful things to watch. so this goodbye was incredibly well done, they said everything that needed to be said. two sentences here still haunt me to this day 'ragnar lothbrok didn't succeed' and 'i wish i never left the farm' those are two of the most heartbreaking things i've heard on the show, still to this day milena sends me a text out of no where and quotes one of those two lines and every time i have to hold back tears
'no regrets'
'and yet every regret' i think perfectly sums us the story between those two characters
so like i said, we finished vikings yesterday, i can't believe we're all caught up after all this time, granted we did have to take a break for two months after 4x15 but still, it feels like we started the show such a long time ago, emotional it feels like we've been watching it for years cause we got really attached in a relatively short period of time. the last few episodes where just as amazing as we thought they were gonna be, if not even more. they told a perfect story from start to finish, there were no dry eyes in the house for any of the episodes. i'm really excited to edit them and finally finish posting all the episode cause i feel like i've been editing something everyday for the past month, i also need a break hahaha.
like milena said at the begining of the episode, this show is one of our favorite of all time, it might be in the top 5, it surpassed shows we watched and loved for years, we can't wait for season 5 and it's a good thing we don't have to wait for too long at all. we still have to film the trailer and the ragnar tribute but we'll get to that one of these days

But yeah, I was super mad at Lagertha when she saidm "We were all approved of you ideas, but they didn't work..." ... Wait a minute Lager. -Sailing west to find a new, rich land? Worked. -Raiding these new lands and bring back vast riches? Worked. -Making profitable deals with people in these new lands? Worked. Sure the colony was betrayed, but you were part of that deal too Lagertha. -Raiding the capital of one of the strongest empire of Europe, taking it and bringing back riches beyond imagination? Worked. -The whole "Entire season 2 Horik spy" plan? Worked. The second Paris raid failed, but Ragnar's mind wasn't to it... Plus, Ragnar wouldn't leave Rollo in charge, It was Bjorn's innocent mistake... That changed the odds quite a bit. So, like everyone else, she seems to forget that many of the great things which are so trivial to them, are possible thanks to Ragnar and his ideas and his bravery. And Ragnar is so humble and so *determined on his set quest*, to just say "Where were all of you in the last 30 years when I ruled as a great earl and then king???" But yeah, Ragnar is wise now, beyond any sense of ego and arrogance. He has a quest: To make sure the settlement is avenged before he dies. Nothing would stop him to fulfill this goal. he will do whatever it takes. People who roget all his great deeds, people who thinlk they can now look down upon him... Ragnar doesn't care about them, because he is more than a man. He is a legends who knows his destiny and knows what he MUST do. That is why he is so great... He never let his ego to come before his sense of suty and he keeps his emotions in check, for the sake of the greater good of his people. So he came back, just to make sure he can do this final service for them... And for himself. Ivar's existence were especially mean to him... Looked down upon by almost everyone (Exept Ubbe and his mother), for being a cripple... His never ending pain... And now, he is not considered a "man", at least by the context of that time. If you couldn't have children, couldn't raise sons, you were viewed as a waste. This is the most shuttering side to his entire conditions. But without these material chains to bind him, he can teach himself to do what other "normal" people wouldn't imagine. Family, children, love... Ivar does want them, as he said, he would "preface to just be happy". But he just can have them. So without these things to hold him back, his Viking destiny can receive all of his Ragnarsson attention...

Ragnars first mistake was leaving Lagertha for Aslaug, His second was putting to must trust into his disloyal brother Rollo, ....i know how you guys feel about Rollo, But lets be real' Rollo was an ungrateful piece of shit, He betrayed Ragnar over and over again. He is the reason why ragnars plans to take Paris failed, Not to mention they wouldnt even have known about paris if not for Ragnar, And Ragnar learned about paris from Athelstan, Rollo hated Athelstan and envied Ragnar, But now hes living lavishly off of land they brought him to

Ragnar told Floki that he didn't think he would seem him again in Valhalla because he planned to commit suicide which is a forbidden act to commit. Ragnar's suicide attempt is suppose to be symbolic in that Odin hanged himself from a tree.

nah, Ragnar planned vengeance in England, his sudden suicide attempt was an impulse prompted by the love of his life, Lagertha's refusal to join his quest admitting that like everyone else, she didn't believe in him anymore. Remember 4x01, Ragnar had a vision the gates of valhalla were closed to him which preceded his army's heartbreaking defeat in Paris. i think that plus the settlement massacre cover up years earlier lead him to believe he didn't deserve valhalla...

I stated there that Ragnar (Travis/Michael Hirst) has affected my life in such a way that I deemed Ragnar Lothbrook my favorite character across TV and Movie platforms and I am still proud to fly that flag. the back half of season 4 will continuously put pressure on your feelings my dears. Just simply from the shift of the show's soundtracks throughout the scenes to the mood that the show is trying to convey. But you will enjoy at the end, I can assure you, because this season does a tremendous job in deciding your feelings from sadness and despair to anger and rage at the end of the season. But I'm not gonna lie, it will be a hard journey to get to that anger and rage at the end.

Hi girls. Great reaction! The creators of vikings are really hard on people who show scenes of vikings. With vikings it doesnt matter if you keep it to 10 minutes, skip the music and dont make the scenes to long. They still allowed to block the video since its there content. My video on ep 15 and 16 also got blocked the first time and i think all his angels is still blocked in a or multiple countries. Try to keep the scenes short, not even blur the image of the episode but just cut out the image but leave in the sound of the show. That may help sometimes. At the momen 8,9 and 11 are blocked in holland. Regarding the episode and your reactions. You know its comming but they just keep giving you more and more emotions just to fuck you up a little more ;-) i just fucking love this show. Glad you continued watching after THE episode and thanks for warming us up to season 5 that is right around the corner :-)
