There's no hiding with an acoustic guitar ... Tommy puts the best electric players to shame and does it bare bones while he's at it. Australian legend ...
@coryCuc4 жыл бұрын
You got that right. Zero effects to hide behind. What you see and hear is what you get.
@revhill819 Жыл бұрын
Well it depends on your style. Personally, having heard Tommy play electric several times, I think he lacks that extra spark and umpf on it compared to others. Tommy is the GOAT at what he does best though.

As much as I love Joe pass, he could never play the kind of things that tommy plays. Depends what kind of style you like I guess. I think Tommy is such a complete guitarist, motherfucker can play anything.

well - do not say that...........he is great, but others too. (Chris Duarte, just to name one) - and its always the same game, who is the best: Federer or Nadal? Or Djokovic.... endlless question with no use. Sorry, if my English is not properly.

Absolute performer! You can see how he puts his entire body into the whole delivery.....you know he can dance as this is a by-product of being able to keep in time with this level of showmanship. I love that he is predominantly playing chords. This is why I'm interested but I have a life time to catch up😆. I play chords but sometimes stray into picking the guitar as in my church band we have no base or lead. Just somewhat reluctant key board player and absent drummer. You do what you can. This guy is great!♥️😃

@kenlyneham41055 жыл бұрын
Amazing!, just doesn't seem to cut it, but it's the best I can do. I first started to listen to TE's playing on ABC 2 radio in Sydney in the early 70s. He was a session guitarist in those days and the ABC 2 picked him up and gave him a lot of exposure. Even then I thought he was fantastic, not realising how brilliant he would become. It's not a good thing to say that he's the best Guitarist in the world, but I understand why people say it. He stands out from all other guitarists I have heard and watched. I think it is mostly that he is an extreme perfectionist in that he puts everything, and then some, into every performance. It's not that he doesn't make mistakes, he does, but he blends them into the tune so they don't sound out of place. Some say he plays too fast. When he does though, you can still hear every note. He can play blurringly fast but that's not his forte. What makes him so good is that along with his perfectionism, he puts in so much personality and pure joy. He works so bloody hard at it, without it showing, that he makes it look easy.

Did I really just spot another "best in the world" conversation? I see people comparing Tommy to the likes of Steve Vai? That's like comparing an F1 driver to a nascar driver? Both are some of the best at their type of racing/guitar playing but it's soooo different. Man I love Tommy playing! His music isn't my type of music but his energy and skill is addicting

okay, but I can do it with mine. I just thought that maybe the sound system in his guitar (AP5 pro) had a mic closer to that top part so that he could get the sound better out of it

There is no greatest , only the player who appeals to your own individual taste and style of interpretation. Never never ever make the mistake of believing one person holds the keys to any artistic journey . It’s wrong on so many levels . It’s like comparing Pavarotti to sam cook . Now jog on and learn to appreciate the styles of all players and welcome them all to the club
