It's always good to see these rare locos in Steam Steve, plenty of Huffin' and Puffin' at the start!

Great shots Steve. Nice to see the Fairburn running. She certainly made hard work of the departure. Kind regards C&A

Thanks C&A, she had two attempts at the departure but thankfully she got away in the end.

Excellent video Steve, nice to see the Fairburn Class steaming back there. There is only two fairburn classes I’m afraid, two surviving is now at this heritage railway. Looks nice looks steam locomotives I have to say. Thanks for sharing this sir. Best wishes from Josh

Yes Steve, nice sequence with the Fairburn putting in a great performance at the well chosen locations.

Thanks Derek, the station and the 1st part of the climb offer the best shots to be honest.

You've found a brilliant spot there Stephen! Looks like they had some tricky conditions but a crew who knew exactly what they were doing. Slips stopped virtually as soon as they had started!
@TheStephengthompson5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Olan , could’ve done with my loppers to get rid of a branch or two lol . Great performance from the crew to get her going.

Excellent Steve, certainly making hard work there climbing out of the Station, spot on locations

Thanks Nige, only went for the two runs so good to get decent shots.

I was down there Easter Monday. You wouldn't believe it was the same weekend. We had nothing like this. Very quiet so as to ensure there was no fires set. Great stuff to watch!
@TheStephengthompson5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ian , the chap in the shot as 42073 excited the tunnel was on fire watch as he was walking behind the train after it departed. It wasn’t as nice yesterday but good the Fairburn was still running.
@ianhardman29735 жыл бұрын
@@TheStephengthompson it was just a hot day and a bit hazy. There was a pair of staff on fire watch while they were clearing up the lineside with strimmers. Did a really good job too! This was the first time I got a Fairburn running too.

Good video Steve, good vantage point you had to capture the struggles for the departure. Great conditions for filming
@TheStephengthompson5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Austin, think I need my lopppers next time to trim a branch or two . Not sure why 42073 struggled so much .

Thanks Alan , the flat bogie and the coaching stock weren’t there last time I did the tunnel shot but it still worked I thought.

Some nice angles there Steve. She did seem to be making quite a meal of it for some reason.

Steve, the Fairburn certainly made heavy weather of getting away. Quite a while since I last made a visit there. Keith.

Excellent video Steve, I wonder whether they had been issued with an instruction from the local fire service due to the heightened fire risk due to the recent spell of good weather like other places have
@TheStephengthompson5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Anthony, there was a young chap with a beater walking the line from Haverthwaite to Newby bridge checking for fires .

Is it a steep grade or were the brakes dragging? Good one, anyway, Steve!
@TheStephengthompson5 жыл бұрын
It is pretty steep up the first section out of the station Alan but the train starts and slips and then after a minute or so it tries again so maybe the brakes were dragging to start with.
@rjas3655 жыл бұрын
Great action, thanks Steve. With little knowledge of the railway, I wonder if this could be used to good effect as a training video? In any case, much enjoyed. Kind regards, Bob.

Not bad, but the absolute snail 🐌 pace is annoying!
@TheStephengthompson5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Nigel, sadly that’s how it is as the lines timetable runs in conjunction with the Windermere ferry at Lakeside near Newby Bridge .
@nigelkthomas95015 жыл бұрын
TheStephengthompson How can that possibly have any bearing on the speed of the train? If it gets there a tad earlier passengers will have a little bit longer to wait that’s all. It never went this slow last time I was there.
@TheStephengthompson5 жыл бұрын
Good point but I can only think it was because of the fire risk as the chap near the tunnel was patrolling the line with a beater after the train passed by
