Exactly when the shipper or receiver starts with the BS I call dispatch and work with them to get the broker on them. 99% of the time they straighten up and get you unloaded right before that two hour point ; )

This comment here. I actually went a step further and would have pre-printed papers that basically said I __________ and rejecting this load. and had a few lines where they can put a reason. I think I printed off 50 and stuck them in a folder and I only ever needed to use 1. They expect you to just roll over and take it up the ass and when you push for what is right and bring out something as simple as pen and paper, it is amazing how something that is impossible to be done is possible.

My mom used to drive over the road before she had a stroke. She told me one, while riding with her, that many times, she would call the drop - off location BEFORE the final leg to dropping off the load. On several occasions, the yard managers would tell her information, such as holding a load for a set number of hours before unloading. With this insightful bit of information, she was able to avoid all this drama beforehand. She either got paid extra for her time, or they would give her an alternate delivery address for her load. All was well in the end.

Negotiate time and materials fee at the destination before you take the load, make it expensive enough that it is in their best interests to unload you ASAP

Some trucking companies run these special trailers with back and side lifts, and often the truckers with their own pallet jacks on board. That way when the customer refuses to unload, they use their own equipment to drop the load and say 'thanks for your business.'

I'm one of those people. Dry Van with a Liftgate and my own Pallet jack is a time saver if you do a lot of LTL. Edit: Oh and yes, I charge them for Liftgate and Pallet jack delivery.

I entered a guard shack with a live unload last year, was sent to a staging area for live unloading, had me disconnect and drop the trailer and report to RECIEVING area with BOL. RECIEVING in taking my BOL said minimum 72 hours to 5 days to unload me. I asked for BOL back and that I was leaving with trailer because it’s a live unload. Was once I disconnected from my trailer,that it was there property now because it was there cargo in it. Any attempt to take it back off the property would be stealing. 4.5 days later they unloaded me. Truck and trailer belonged to my boss. Always something new to learn in this awesome world of trucking.

I've watched a truck at a warehouse dump a load of loose corn right in the parking lot over an argument about unloading. BOL said it was 24 tons of corn. Grocery manager said it was supposed to be in big pallet boxes. Turns out that whomever ordered the corn got a good deal on the load as long as it was paid up front. best day of my over the road life was watching all the other trucks coming and going driving over corn spread over 300 feet in that parking lot.

same crap at Walmart ... my old boss had many trailers sitting in the yard that had been "delivered" multiple times and refused and sent back for the most stupid reasons ... i delivered 670 baby strollers with what was supposed to be a no touch load... I ended up given a helper at the dock to unload (he put on the barcode stickers) while I did the work and told me to slow down and that I would have to wait as they had a staff meeting ! I worked faster ... F that !! I never went to another Walmart ever !!! I wont even shop in those crap stores !!!

Companies implemented just in time deliveries and the purchasing department doesn't have a clue what they are doing. Corporations do not want warehouses, cheaper to leave a load on the trailer. Glad you stood your ground.

Straight up, as a warehouse manager I wish more drivers were like you. I would so much rather bend a rule and help someone like you (especially if a broker made promises like they did in your case, I can always find a way to charge them extra when they create situations like this) then do anything for some rude rage monster. I have had to come find our office lady in tears from some driver losing his mind over not getting loaded/unloaded immediately because he was 3 hours late for his appointment, or because the company he is hauling for never got us the orders for his load. Be firm, be direct, be clear, but stay calm and kind and you almost always end up ahead.

We also absolutely get the same treatment, if we're behind and its our fault, we get charged detention fees by brokers and carriers everytime, as we should. Who ever is at fault for disrupting business has to pay, that's how it works. Second, as I clearly stated, we charge the broker extra in situations where they make promises to the drivers like this, not the driver himself, so I don't understand how this is treating the driver poorly. Who ever told him he would get in as a live load, must pay us to work him in early if they didn't originally contract that. Lastly, I don't care how bad the driver was treated by other people, its never ok for anyone to take that out on the next person. Our 5 foot short nearly 60 year old office lady has never said a unkind word to anyone, the things people have said to here because things aren't going their way are reprehensible to say to anyone, but especially to someone like her. Just be professional, like this guy says in the video.

I had to pick up a load of coffee at that exact place about a month ago. I got there at 7:30 pm and I had to drop the trailer for up to 24 hours. When I asked where I was supposed to go, they politely said it wasn't their problem. So I ended up bobtailing up to the Love's just north of the 295 loop. About 20 miles. There I sat until 2 pm the next day. I never want to go back to that place ever again. What a nightmare!

That was nicely done. I also own and operate a tractor/trailer , only difference being I haul cars. Dealers will often try to get me to deliver partial loads to other addresses, body shops, paint shops etc etc....not happening at least NOT FOR FREE. What we do is NOT a hobby...it is a business !! If they pay me I will deliver to Timbuctu with the operative word being PAY !! My motto is " if you don't PAY your freight will STAY". Good luck and stay safe.

To many brokers now want you to download tracking apps on your phone. I tell them I pay for the phone not the company. You want a tracking phone bring me it and I'll send it back COD. They company has GPS on trailers, trucks n the eld has it so why should i ruin my phone. If your smart enough to look up the app you should be able to read its settings. Most of the apps give the broker the ability to use your phone to make calls, use your phones camera to spy on you or take a picture every so often to check on your activity. Dont believe me a certain broker in Omaha has 3 people who monitor nothing but drivers using their 4KITE app info on their loads.

Used to work for Warehouse for that Maxwell house plant ( other side of town ), the lot you were trying to drop in, would constantly flood, to the point we had 3-4 trailers have rusted out landing gear and fail while loading it full of Coffee.... Jax has awful drainage...

ARRGGGG!!! I just went through the same thing yesterday with automobile parts for a warehouse. Following set of directions, I wound up on a street that dead ended at an electrical substation, guys working there had seen it numerous times, and had a good laugh over it. Following second set of directions I wound up going around, and around, several blocks, and WOULD have been sent back to the substation had I not spotted the Town Hall. Finally found the place and everyone I talked to told me stories about drivers being sent everywhere BUT the warehouse. Once there, I was in and out in no time.

I delivered a load of creamer there a few years ago, they had me unload in a unbelievable slot known as the Hole, between 2 building with a huge generator parked on one side, having to avoid as you were backing in. Did it in one try.

When Uber first started I got a load form Georgia to virgina. Once I got to va target, they called me in after opening trailer and said I have the wrong product. Called uner and said u owe me this much for bringing it here. U want me to take it further , u need to pay the same rate per mile. I’ll take it back or some where else. They had me take it back to sc. once I got there they said it’s a 4 day wait to check in. 😂 I told them no problem. Just put me 250$ a day, I’ll go get a hotel and wait. Rates were garbage at the time. So I was happy. In the end. It made my week by the end of it.

I am no trucker, but I have done receiving for a couple of warehouses/distribution centers and shipping and receiving for am aircraft repair facility. The longest turn around for any unload (weekends being the exception) was 8 hours, that was only due to the fact that we did not have enough dock space for the 6 trucks (54'ers nearly full) that was due on that day.

I was an o/o in mid 80s had aload of grocery bags delivery to grocery wharehouse. Broker said no touch load. Got to whse.andwas told by receveur how he wanted then stacked. I said they were stacked fine.He said i had to do it, i said nope. Then pullef truck from dock . Got to guard shack and was told I couldn't leave with their bags. I said my truck ny trailer my bags untill u unload them. They back into a dock and they unloaded them just how they were loaded on trailer. Good for u for sticking to u guns.

Lol, delivered there 10's of times. Used to haul the red containers up from orlando. You got lucky pulling out that back lot and not stopping for that sign, lots of times there's a city cop sitting on that street to the left waiting. Sign on the fence, maxwell house, sign on a pole 20' from the fence, street sign. Seen a few guys get tickets there.

When you were there they were having King Tides. That's why there was so much water in the parking lot. We live in Florida and were owner-operators, and we once had a load of potatoes rejected that we picked up in Georgia and hauled them all the way to the Frito-Lay Company in Arizona, We were headed out to Washington to pick up a load of Apples and we took that load of potatoes to cover our cost for the trip to Washington. Well, when Frito-Lay rejected the load I didn't know what to do because I had two days to get them off my truck, so we stopped in a couple of towns between Arizona and Washington and made two cheap signs that said FREE POTATOES TAKE ALL YOU WANT! And we gave an entire load of potatoes away in about 8 hours. We had people taking all their cars could hold and said they would give them to their neighbors. lol. That potato packing house wasn't happy about it, but me picking up my load of Red and Golden Delicious apples was far more important than that packing houses feelings. lol.

How does it work to get paid on a load like that? And how long did it take to get paid for the potatoes?

@@cntslesfabrication I was supposed to be paid at the time of drop off, but after they refused the load and I was on the phone with the packing house for half the day and them telling me they didn't know what to do with the load, I told them I had to find a place to drop it even if it was a land field. Long story short, I didn't get paid until almost 4 months later for that load, they tried not to pay me anything so I put a lean against their company for what I was owed for the load, and the day and a half I was trying to get their load off my truck, So they paid the lean.

@@cntslesfabrication It was ridiculous, I'm just glad I was able to get paid, Getting paid months later was kinda like having extra money in the savings account. lol. The few hours and the money I spent doing paperwork and getting it notarized for the lean against them turned out to be well worth it. The lean I put against them only kept them from selling the company without paying me first, And they weren't selling the company so I was kinda shocked that they just paid it. But I'm glad they did. Maybe having a lean against them messed with certain credit lines they had. I don't know.

love your channel, I am new to this one and love it, my partner drives truck and trailer here in new Zealand doing water delivery and doubles up driving the sucker trucks as well and I love going trucking with him when I can so I do understand your love for trucking, the world needs to understand if it wasn't for you guys due to covid the supply wouldn't get to where they are needed, you are an excellent driver always alert to your surroundings, and finally doesn't your wee boy look exactly like his dad he's going to grow up nice-looking like dad , take care to be safe wendy

It would have been great having a GPS and a cell phone back in the 80’s. When we were under a load the company wanted a check call every 6 hours. That was a pain.

You know I watch your video and I really love your videos are used to be a truck driver and you don’t know how much I really miss driving across the country like I used to do it was fun it was amazing and I loved it and because I can’t do it anymore because I lost my foot really really gets to me sometimes but I’m glad they’re still doing it out there and I’m glad you’re still doing it I’ll be watching you because you make it fun for me to watch you work thank you God bless you be safe
