Loaded Aurizon grainy climbs to Mt'' Lofty Station.

It's my last trip of the year to Stirling in 2023. My first train is a loaded grain , with 3 EMD's on the point , using all of their available traction to get their 50 loaded hoppers to the summit. You can hear the "Super Series" wheelslip control , overdriving the traction motors to give the most grip on the rails!

Thank you Sir! I heard about it last week , it was pretty low key here on the news??? They only put crap on the news these days! Very sad indeed and I'm sure it could of been prevented ....The truck driver has been charged with 2 counts of death by vehicle. I hate working on level crossing as I don't trust motorists and see so many go through them ....and break our booms off! Always brings it home when you hear of the loss of a fellow rail worker . LOL...the zoom does compress the shot a lot, but these are mainline curves and quiet broad in real life. The rails do cop a flogging though , with the grade and amount of curves in the hills, the locos use lots of sand! Thanks for watching! Gregg.😊

Interesting with the wheel profiles. How they make a different noise as they wear down. Unfortunately most of my physics classes I took in high school are no longer fresh in my mind. But it does make sense. One thing I noticed as the locomotives were passing by, the last locomotive had a door opened on the left side by the cab. Question, is that the entrance to the cab or is it the electrical room. Great video, it’s amazing how much graffiti is on the grain hoppers. Cheers from cold Nebraska, Terry.

Thanks Terry! The conical shape allows the wheels to move to where they roll the easiest, but as they wear , they lose that and just slide sideways across the rail head . I suspect they just left the door open or it came open. You do see dorrs open on older units sometimes , but along the carbody side. I hate the grafitti! Gregg :-O)
