I was clenching thinking you were walking over those cable if they were connected to the telehandler. It would be a bad day if it had been connected and slipped at the wrong moment, anything from urinating blood to cut in half. Thankfully the winch cables weren't connected, so I relaxed.

@@krisstafford74I'm from an agricultural back round here in the UK I've also got experience in the construction industry. Believe me even the most experienced operators can do the stupidest thing's I've heard and seen people rolling agricultural machines on flat ground mainly from badly loaded bodies and cornering to tight but probably the worst one on a construction site wasn't machine operator related but shear bad luck and planning, while pouring over site concrete in to the cavity wall 's witch had been built up to 12 feet high pushed the inside skin of the cavity in and out it took the builders 3 days to sort out. I watch Ron Pratt & Pepe"s over there and Mr G D B on this side of the pond.

Kris no disrespect to any of your team you handled this job in a professional manner I agree hands on experience is best but this guy in rotator has no business in the rotator until he knows the rigging and operations of controls let alone giving you grief in front of customer they could clearly see that you had it under control other guy needs to get a riggers Bible and study it and carry it with him he needs to be swamper for at least a year or on light duty tows before jumping in with us big dogs don't know if it's your company or not brother but he needs training
@mikel9567Ай бұрын
I'm going to play devils advocate here. Not every job is the same. That guy may be good in the rotator and may have been out of his element on this particular call. There was a lot going against them here that takes experience. You have the load at an angle, coupled with an unstable base and suction from the mud being applied to the vehicle which complicates it. On top of that you also have an unsecured load which is half the weight of the telehandler to contend with, and an unusual pull where you have to move the boom and keep tension while the telehandler is being pulled. I can see it being a difficult job for most. It's something that you have to have the experience. I would bet if he encounters a similar call, he would be better. I don't agree with what you're seeing where he was disrespectful towards Kris. On the contrary, I think he was very respectful. He voice his opinions and suggestions but still did what he was told. This is called teamwork. I would imagine he probably learned a lot on this call.

If you had put the telehandler in crab steer it would have walked out away from the river.

You can't steer if you can't turn the tires. You can see it was already in crab steer since the rear wheels were turned.
@CoryNichols-ng4uhАй бұрын
Not everyone can run a forklift. It is a risk to drive it out they didn’t want that risk. A good forklift hand for sure could have gotten that out. It’s knowing the machine you are running and being an operator not a steering wheel holder. There are a few options to get it out with just the machine. Good operator knows his or her worth. Companies these days don’t want skilled labor cause the bosses don’t know jack. So they get scared and just want a yes man.
@rickhaefs2304Ай бұрын
@@CoryNichols-ng4uh Based on the extremely unstable ground, that had already given way, they did the right thing by calling in a wrecker. No operator, no matter how good, should have risked trying to get it out unassisted. I just meant putting it in crab steer would have made pulling it out easier. You are correct in saying how important quality skilled labor is.
@rickhaefs2304Ай бұрын
@@mikel9567 No sir it was not in crab steer. Crab steer turns the wheels in the same direction not the opposite direction, which is how it was configured.
@CoryNichols-ng4uhАй бұрын
@@rickhaefs2304. You are correct it was not in crab steer. You can use the boom to ur advantage. In my statement I believe I said it was not worth the company taking that risk so yes they did the correct thing by calling a tow company.
