suggestion : Widen the door so a typical skid will fit. That way you can stack hay on skid and use your tractor. Also place skids on trailer and stack hay on them then use tractor to unload and place in loft. You could also use a pallet jack to move bales (on skids) in the loft.
@paulsanders1373Ай бұрын

I've hauled a bunch of hay and stacked it in barns when i was a kid the way you are doing it , one thing you have that we didn't is a tractor with forks on it , when you pickup the hay put it on some of those used pallets you took off the trailer , probably would'nt have to do that , pickup alot of bales at once then you can both stack it in the loft of of the forks . Just a suggestion , i'm sure you know what your doing and got a way of doing things.

There was always a debate between my father and uncle of which was the best way to stack hay. My dad said stack it cut side up (strings on the side), my uncle insisted hay should be stacked string side up. My dad said that the cut side up kept the stacks more stable because the bales held together better like velcro. My uncle said that string side up made it easier and quicker to stack. My brothers, my cousins, and I just rolled our eyes because it was the same work either way 🤣 Good video 👍

you do not need a hay Eliteivater you need a pitchfork son if you have one, If you are feeding 2000 bullock you need an elevator I recall the barn will hold 350 bales if. pack to the roof as we did, & don't forget to oil them then you're better off with a Dutch barn, if you have friends in the Hamish community, they will give you good advice /. You need a log cart son. Yes, it getting to be an interesting channel. Keep it up Les England. Ps Think about loading your hay ball into the loft on pallets You will need to widen the door Or put too on the loft you could use the old one other send it back to you Or make a special batch just for your lift But it put the power-loader to work at home. for unloading. Just A Brain Fart But It May Help.

We use a rope and pulley on a beam to load our hay loft. Horses are alot of work. One benefit is you don't need a gym membership. Love your videos.

Enjoy the channel. Thanks. Hope you’ll consider leaving the battens off the hay loft. As your boards dry, you’ll get a crack between and the loft will breathe perfectly for hay. All the old hay barns were built with gaps to allow air flow. Since you’re in the south, maybe batten the South side only for hard rain. Just a thought from an old hay farmer.
@wallacefarmandsawmillАй бұрын
Thanks for the tips! I wondered about that!
@DnMcDyАй бұрын
The fact that you don't have the ceiling rail and hay hook system that old barns had, an elevator is probably your best option. I've used both methods. The ceiling rail and hook system was great for having the bails drop near where you wanted to stack them. Elevator, you have to walk the bails to their stack location. The issue with hay in barns is spontaneous combustion. Slightly moist hay will heat like compost and start a fire. Careful not to bail while dew is still on the hay in the early mornings. Keep a close watch for steam and smoke in your barn.

@@wallacefarmandsawmill That's an idea. The doors Wider. two doors wide & you do not need an elevator load the bald onto pallets in the field & then back Home Re 'lowed them into the barn with your loader Mack use what you have. yes that gives the Loader a second string to it Bow Les & Jan England.

I have a vague recollection of stacking the bales vertically, so they were easier to stack when things got tight at the end of rows, ext. It also allowed the bales to dry faster.
