I briefly served upon the USS Samuel B. Roberts (FFG-58). In 1988, after hitting an Iranian mine, the Samuel B was loaded on a similar ship, the Mighty Servant 2, and shipped back to Newport, Rhode Island for repairs. Imagine a similar sized heavy lift ship, only it was completely filled with one ship, rather than around 12.

Brian. Thank you for your service. I think the ( FFG) HATS are the neatest looking. They opened the ships store on my 4 Hour cruise on USS Rodney M. Davis ( FFG-60) later in years went to open house at ( Fair Winds) underwater Test Range on Vancouver island in BC. The Captain of the Canadian underwater Noise vessel ( 611) he wanted my cover so bad, he loved the look of ( FFG) caps.

Well you learn something new every day. Very interesting video. Few questions: 1) What is the fee for such a trip? 2) Does the transport include insurance? 3) I assume you and chef live on AWOL for the trip? 4) Do you invite / get invited by other crews aboard their vessels for a look around etc?

Hi Super Yacht Captain . AWESOME video ! Super cool to see so many super yachts packed in . They use computers to calculate the weight distribution & position of each yacht . Divers have to properly support & weld all the braces to the floor to secure the superyachts . Glad you have the Chef to keep you company . Safe journey . Mark (Toronto) 🌊🌊

That was terrific - who ever does the load plan for that ship must be a master a three dimensional Tetris…
@j.49412 жыл бұрын
Even more impressing is - if you think about it: When AWOL came into port, the transport was NOT submerged. Loading for most of the cargo was done (perhaps in a previous port). But then it submerged again (for AWOL etc). But that means all the other cargo ALSO went afloat again. So you do not only have to puzzle the NEW cargo exactly in the right spot, you also have to take care the OLD cargo doesn't float away.

It was really surprising how deep this cargo ship can “sink”I did really nice pictures to explain how the boat can sink and then he loads the yachts who are attached with a metal frame to the cargo under water. Finally they pump the water out of the cargo ready to navigate again. All the story in less than 24 h!!! If you like I can send those pictures to you
