Replacement of the shoe welt is not necessary if the welt is in good condition unless the welt is busted. Otherwise, you are adding additional holes into the side of the shoe which will make it impossible for the shoe to be repaired multiple times.

Was going to make this comment, but you said it better. Thought purpose of welt construction is so you DON'T have to mess with the upper. Even if you sew on a new welt by hand using the same holes, why give the upper added stress. These people know way better than me, but yeah I'm confused.

Loake shoes are made in India. Those workers don't look Indian to me .

No, some are and they are clearly labelled and are cheaper. There’s no underhand tactics.

Design by Locke is the version made in India but the more expensive 1880’s are still made in England!

Select the 'made in England' option on their website for all the shoe and boot models made in Northamptonshire
