Thank you! The fuzz is actually from the Fractal FM3, it's one I'd specifically asked for and I'm super stoked they added it. It's the "PI Fuzz - Russian" into the Hipower (Hiwatt DR103).

I also have the white model and swapped the pickups for white/black Seymour Duncan Black winters and the tuners for locking tuners. Did a before/after recording and was quite shocked, that the original pickups didn´t sound half bad in comparison. So I bought the vintage sunburst looking version ob the guitar also and decided to keep that one stock, since the tuners are actually completely fine. I now enjoy both the modded version swell as the stock version. Insanely cool guitar, especially considering the price.

It's a very well-equipped guitar stock - I think just swapping the volume pot for a push/pull with coil split would go a long way

Love the sound of the split coils. The bridge high gain really cuts through with them. Great video as always sir! 🍻

It's got a real good pick attack to it when it's split, I reckon it'll fit in a mix really nicely

The ambient sounds were very nice here. I had a similar problem with the Grestch Jet Baritone; I'd switch from a guitar with active pickups and then have to turn the input gain up 14dB on the Gretsch, it definitely need different sounds.

The output of this is very similar to the Gretsch - it works better for the low tunings, but you really have to dial in tones specifically for it

Killer pickups. Really turned that baritone into a different kind of beast

Definitely changed the vibe completely - much more aggressive and articulate now. The original hit like a hammer, the new pickups cut like a knife

The results turned out amazing! This is a project I've been looking forward to and the pickups were a very interesting surprise, definitely gonna look into those. Can't wait to see what comes next!

It's one of my go-to testing riffs for baritones, it's such a chunky riff

I also bought this baritone, and I like it for its unique character. One problem for me was to find strings that I like, because most of the normal baritone strings don't fit for this 30" scale length. The low 84 e-string has not enough tension for my taste and I tried the Ernie Ball string set 20/90 Slinky, but only the a-string was too short, now I will try the 20/90 string set from Pyramide Strings. I just contacted this company and asked them if they could help. Next week, I will get the new strings... I had to learn how to play with these string gouges, but now it's not a problem at all. I will also change some of the electrical parts, but I think I don't change the pickups. A coil split will be useful and also new locking tuners. Please write me what kind of locking tuners you use for this baritone. For me it's a very special baritone, not made for everyone and everything, but I use it for ambient music and stoner and doom. Because this baritone is not expensive, more people should try it. Great video!

I would say if you want something very specific, just order a custom set on Stringjoy.

Thank you for your comment! I'm using Winspear strings - the winding doesn't reach the tuners, but it does cover the whole active part of the string (saddle to nut). The locking tuners I'm using are from Vanson - the V05SP set

look for strings made for the Fender BassVI, which is the original 30” scale baritone, normally tuned to E std an octave below “normal” guitar. It’s what this instrument is designed after. Fender makes at least one set, and I believe so do D’Addario and Ernie Ball, but don’t quote me on those last two, I just know that a bunch of other companies aside from Fender are making BassVI strings now

Dude, I wish 😄 I wanted to keep the costs on this one down, I've had too many money pit projects. Most of the electronics were parts I had hanging around, I'm in for about £30 on the tuners and £10 for the ClipLock. Maybe £1.48 worth of sandpaper and copper tape too

you kind sir just added 500$ to the value of the guitar for the "relic job" on the pickguard jokes aside, this offset baritone i am super in love with (as much as i'm in love with kpop)

Is this guitar worth getting for someone who isn't intending on playing metal or very low tuning? Like just looking for 27-30 inch scale guitar to put 12-70 gauge strings to play B-B to accompany a standard guitar. Everyone seems to play metal with these.
@KaiDown
@KaiDown 10 күн бұрын
For B-B on 30" scale you probably want lighter strings than that - something like 12-56 should work. You'll definitely need to swap the nut out, but it's doable. I'd say 25.5"-27" would be my preference for B-B

what's the max string gauge on those locking tuners?
@KaiDown
@KaiDown 10 күн бұрын
I would imagine it's 64 or so - the wound portion didn't reach the two lowest tuners so it wasn't an issue for me at all, but it's also super easy to drill tuners out. Grab a 1mm titanium drill bit and it should be a breeze, just be sure to unscrew the locking mechanism as far as possible first
