One of my favorite oldies, that take me back our family spring vacation when I was in 7th grade. It was the year we traveled through the deep south and the Smoky mountains. This song, never gets old and, it takes me home, everytime I hear it.

I was a young kid when this was a hit (maybe 9 years old, if it was the summer of 1971 as another commenter said). My sister had a big ol' stuffed animal dog that was blue in color which she named.... of course. "Blue." When I heard this song, I thought he was singing of a dog named "Blue," because, of course I did.
