Transfer Flow founder, Bill Gaines, invited school district principals and supervisor board members to tour four local Chico California factories in his effort to bring education and manufacturing together in a revised approach to teaching students. He suggests schools cannot afford the equipment in private sector factories and encouraged all participates to support the use of local factories as the labs for middle and high school classes. For students to be competitive in the job market, they must be trained in basic critical thinking skills and core technologies required in today’s work place. Bill shared impressive data about the financial impact of manufacturing on communities and pitched his support of the STEM learning model: Science, Technology, Engineering and Math - Project Based Learning. This tour also promoted the upcoming North State Grow Manufacturing Roundtable and Expo.
