We want to trek from Black Sea to Caspian Sea along southern Greater Caucasus. Can we bypass South Ossetia and it's potential criminal/land mine dangers by detouring north into Russia's North Ossetia-Alania at the Mammison Pass, up to Vladikavkaz, and then back into Georgia just east of Mount Kazbek ? Is North Ossetia-Alania safe?
@ЮлияБачарникова3 жыл бұрын
Of course North Ossetia is safe, why not? I know a couple of guides who do hiking from the North Ossetia to lakes in the South Ossetia, and they never mention any mines or something. I can give you contacts

U said the main language is Russia? Yee let me autocorrect u there , for example u said there is no dialects right Yee Ingush and Chechens are legit the same , we have some dialects + the main language is for example ingushetia okey the main language there is Ingush same with Chechenya
@thenorthcaucasustraveller77303 жыл бұрын
The official language in Russia is Russian, regardless of the region. The regional languages in the North Caucasus are distinct to Russian. So Ingush, Karachai or any other language is not a dialect of Russian. That was the point of the expression in this video. So you’re right, of course, some of the Caucasian languages belong to the same language family and have similarities and people in different republics can understand each other.
