Love the glasses, Phil. You both always look so smart and dashing, and as I am aging right along with you, I find you inspiring, and am happy to be in the club! Poor ear Kirsty. I hope your back is all recovered. Kirsty is sometimes with Phil the way I can be with my husband. My advice, smile in public, speak sharpish in private. It makes you look more gracious ;)

I feel like prices are going up so much, if you like something just buy it if you can…doesn’t seem like it can lose value. But it hurts me for people that they have to pay $400k for a one-bed smaller than my own rented one. I can see it would be painful to spend a million if the area doesn’t attract them. House is beautiful though. I liked the little flat with the balcony just for that little outside space. I felt like the first one was quite basic but if it works, it works. Thanks for posting and glad they all found homes.

For the 1st couple, the million pounds 4th property was absolutely gorgeous. It was definitely worth the money with the space and layout plus not needing anything doing to it if they want to keep it as a 5 bedroom house. Unfortunately it wasn't in the right area. I was going for the 3rd one or even the 2nd but the work needed would definitely be close to or more than the money being saved off the budget whereas the 4th house was ready to move into. As for the 2nd couple, I loved the 1st house. It was a 1 bedroom but it was a below budget bright spacious 1 bedroom with big south facing windows letting in enough light plus a spacious beautiful kitchen and modern bathroom. Move in ready as well.

I'm sure it's probably also a case of the programme makers urging them to make comments as they go around the properties saying what they like, what they don't like, what they would change etc. It doesn't make interesting viewing if they're silent. It's like Escape to the Country: you're bound to get some inanities.

30 years ago, a friend of mine who was a real estate agent, sold a property for a bit over 1 million$. When the new owners did the walk through just before signing, they remarked there was a particular soap holder in one bathroom that was missing. It was a deal breaker for them and the sellers made a frantic search in their boxes to find the holder!! My friend was laughing

You certainly don’t get much bang for your buck the nearer you get to London. It’s crazy as a million pounds would buy you a small mansion elsewhere in the country!

What is with all those antennas & microwave, cell-phone receivers on the roof of that apartment block? Sorry, but there's no way I'd touch it with a barge pole. I know they have to go somewhere... I find that very scary. Poor Kirstie - do hope she didn't break anything...

@valynteenaАй бұрын
It wasn't. If you listened well, the 2nd 1 bedroom they saw was actually smaller. Besides size does not really matter if you are getting a house that is bright and airy with big south facing windows, gorgeous kitchen and bathroom, 35k below budget in the area you like.

UK houses are generally not to my taste. Too often a rabbit warren of rooms with awkward doors (that always seem to be permanently closed, like people living there have serious secrets to hide from the others). But those 1930s bow-front homes seem nicer than most.
@the-wild-roseАй бұрын
@@FigaroHey The UK doesn't even want unpleasant folk like you
@lysem4392Ай бұрын
I like the opposite. I really, but _really_ don't like open areas where you can see the entire space at a glance. They feel like airplane hangars with a kitchen plopped into a corner of the living room. No mystery, no surprises, no privacy. I love nooks and crannies; I don't like a house where I already know with a certainty where every room will be and what it will look like. Sooo boring! Regarding doors, I grew up in a house with zero privacy. Not one moment alone ever. So I love doors. I want a house where every room has a door that closes whenever I wish. I have become allergic to unwanted intrusion.
@Asphyxia-l8i20 күн бұрын
I agree, most UK properties look horrendous, with ugly add ons here and there, horrendous pvc winter gardens, higgledy-piggledy layouts, pvc windows and doors!!! and stripped of all period features that once added charm to the building. And then these wall to wall carpets, simply awful 😂, also the plumbing is often quite strange. Why would you put pipes on the facade of your house? I’m obviously not British 😉
@pimpozza16 күн бұрын
