Location is a vital ingredient. Also necessary is sustainment. How long can the antelope stay there successfully? How long can the dogs stay there and maintain the perimeter? The dogs can take turns drinking, eating, sleeping. The antelope cannot. This show will end shortly. And it may not be pretty, unless the dogs are not very motivated. Is this why God includes a promise of food and water with the place of defense? These deer are the "lawful prey" of the dogs. How long before a dog becomes a projectile weapon, hurtling the deer from the rock? If they are to be delivered, someone superior to the dogs is needed to step in and either restrain or destroy the attacking element. Thankfully, in the end of time, God never leaves His people defenseless. If He allows them to suffer as the best means of perfecting character, correcting misconceptions, and teaching them to hate evil, this is for their benefit. If He teaches them their own helplessness, this is essential training. If He brings them into "close combat" with the beast and its image, this is to "teach them war," so they can grasp more of what the Great Controversy is. When the harvest is ended, the valley of decision is empty, and the plagues fall, God preserves His own in the tempest. He first sends angels disguised as men of war to enforce the last remaining human laws that would protect them. Then, when human law entirely ceases to protect, God interferes in the most dramatic, supernatural manner possible, and nobody is left in doubt.
