Strongest lockup on any trap= double longsprings. Theres no other massproduced trap that can hold like those do.

#11 Duke longspring is my go to coon trap.They hold about anything that gets into them.

There's a reason why the round jaw coils are superior to the square jaw. Especially the old style Victor low lever square jaws. They were junk. Having g said that. The high lever newer version is a vast improvement. But I still like the round jaws best. I'm 58 yrs old and have been trapping since I was 12. I know wh I'm talking about. Lock up on a double long spring is awesome. I've caught 50 pound coyotes in the old Blake and lamb # 2 double longs and they had bent frame and warped jaws and the coyote was still there. I haven't used them in yrs now, but still like them. I use strictly high lever round jaw coils now. I'm gravitating towards restraint cables for coyote now. But love my steel traps and I have several brands and designs for different uses.

You also have to remember when there is an animal in there the jaws won't be closed all the way to begin with. JM2C

The Duke # 2 square jaw and the Bridger traps are basically exact copies of the Northwoods.

I noticed Northwoods traps springs got weak over time they were a budget traps brand not good quality made Taiwan or Korea

@@mattstarr8203 yes and they don't lie as flat as the Duke round jaws or the Blake and Lamb or Victor. Idk how flat the Duke Square jaws and Bridgers lay.

I wouldn't never use a offset jaws on a coon. I use offset jaws trapping coyotes and bobcats.

I've caught a lot of coon in good offsets but I don't use them often at coon sets.

@@paskinner4812 in Arkansas any foot hold trap. That has jaws wider than 5 inch. They have to be offset. Cant use a trap bigger than 6 inchs on land.
