this is a terrific video because you talk about both sides of the equation. I always watch a video and think "great, but what if I am the guy trying to defend or pass". You address both. Plus your little bits of exagerrated humour drive the points home.

Awesome thanks Jeff! Very excited about this series, lockdown has been my favorite position to work from since I started training because the control feels so solid and when I'm there I feel pretty safe. BUT! I lack the intricate techniques to really make the sweeps work on good guys. How many parts will this series be and when does the next part come out?
@CheatCodeJiuJitsu5 жыл бұрын
My release schedule is typically Monday and Thursday mornings, so two videos per week. I've been pretty good about keeping to that, other than taking a week off for vacation a month ago. :D As for how many videos, I'll just say this. I tossed out some ideas for the underhook path, and quickly came up with 10 videos worth of concepts and sweeps. That doesn't include a few additional sweeps and submissions I want to cover. There's also an entire overhook path that I intend to do and haven't mapped out yet. Plus half guard from the top, including passes and submissions. So...let's just say sit tight and get your popcorn ready. :D

I'd go to 10thplanetjj.com and purchase MTS (mastering the system) for less than 5 bucks a month and get most of eddie's jiujitsu knowledge, including the lockdown.

Hi Jeff! What I observed while practicing lockdown over and over that if it was done correctly, it is very painful to your opponent.
@CheatCodeJiuJitsu4 жыл бұрын
It definitely can be. Depending on where your outside leg crosses over, you can get good sharp pressure on either their calf or Achilles tendon. A tight squeeze on the Lockdown can also put a lot of torque on their knee, so I do tend to be careful with it when I know I'm rolling with someone who has a bad knee.
@SD-lf3rw4 жыл бұрын
@@CheatCodeJiuJitsu So it means to me, basically that I can even twist my lockdown against bigger opponents till the submission? While flowrolling with some of black belts, I see they are getting annoyed if I play with their locked leg forth and back. They are much more calm if they allow me to close guard and seat in my closed guard.;)
@CheatCodeJiuJitsu4 жыл бұрын
@@SD-lf3rw Can you do that and get a submission? Technically, yes. To be honest, actual submissions from a tight/twisting lockdown are pretty rare against good opponents. You may get some white or low level blues to tap, but I'd be shocked if a black belt tapped to it. I certainly have no problems "annoying" people I roll with, just keep in mind that if you're annoying those black belts by torquing on their knee with your lockdown they have the ability to give it right back to you tenfold. :D

So long time Eddie Bravo / 10th Planet follower & literally have played around with the lockdown & just quit doing it, but it’s been this last couple weeks every time I use it I’m getting better results instead of more traditional escapes. I weigh 162lb 5’9 & every one in my gym are just monsters & so heavy & tall& I just get smashed on bottom . I look forward to starting this series & implementing these techniques into my game. Awesome video & details! I got to watch your arm triangle video as well. Do you have a video for small guys like me against bigger opponents? Thank you so much!
@CheatCodeJiuJitsu2 жыл бұрын
Great, hopefully this helps! Since I'm a fairly small guy myself, I would say pretty much every video on my channel is something that would work for small guys against bigger opponents.

My brother you got a new subscriber. If I could I would love to put in some request. Big guys lay on their back fold their arms and act like stone walls that can’t be moved, starting from knees without getting collar drag down or snap down, Please side control escapeswhen bigger guys just smashing you on top. You may have these videos already out, but if you don’t I would love to see a big guy series. Thank you for your reply! New subscriber

Hey, any plans to do rubber guard series in deep dive?
@CheatCodeJiuJitsu4 жыл бұрын
No plans for rubber guard right now, at least not for a full deep dive series. I'm all no gi, and I incorporate a lot of 10th Planet stuff into my game, but I'm not belted in the 10th Planet system. With my hobbit frame, rubber guard just isn't something I go to that often. There are a lot of resources out there from people way better than me at rubber guard, so I'm gonna leave that to them. I'll probably show a few things here and there, like some Meathook transitions during my triangle deep dive, but I don't plan (right now) on doing a full rubber guard series. I'm happy to hear any other requests/suggestions!

@@CheatCodeJiuJitsu I am pretty new to BJJ, only 3 months. And due to my body frame and flexibility (178 cm, 54 kg), just noticed that for me is more practical to use rubber guard where I could succeed in omo, gogo, triangle. Anyway, happy to subscribe and keep learning from you!
@CheatCodeJiuJitsu4 жыл бұрын
@@SD-lf3rw That body frame certainly sounds custom made for rubber guard. Here are some of my friends who do/teach a lot of rubber guard stuff on their channels: Brandon McCaghren (10P black belt, 10P Decatur): kzbin.info Jeremiah Vance (10P black belt, 10P Santa Barbara): kzbin.info/door/JpXNa1W20nhSGusRgQxriA Geo & Richie Martinez (10P blacks, 10P Freaks): kzbin.info/door/JpXNa1W20nhSGusRgQxriA BMac and the Freaks also have their own paid sites with tons of awesome content, well worth the price.

What is it called when the outside leg goes under the ankle and the inside leg crosses to the outside and ties?
@CheatCodeJiuJitsu4 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if it has an "official" name, but I've always called that reverse lockdown.
@RichWitGame4 жыл бұрын
@@CheatCodeJiuJitsu Logically that's what I thought. But I couldn't find any videos or reference to it online. Is it never used?
@CheatCodeJiuJitsu4 жыл бұрын
@@RichWitGame I wouldn't say never. I use it myself from time to time, but it's mainly just useful if I can't get immediately to proper lockdown and I just need something to slow them down for a second. It doesn't provide as much control over the legs. To escape a "proper" lockdown, you can hamstring curl and rotate your hip out to drop your foot to the outside (see my "Escapes" video for more details). It's a good first step, but if you don't move your foot quickly I'll just fish it right back into lockdown. To escape a "reverse" lockdown with that movement, you'd be dropping your foot on the inside. At that point, the top guy is basically chair sitting and lockdown recovery is very hard. The inside hip rotation also tends to be much easier for most people.
