Think about it. We'll never be able to trust him. Let's just say he gets it together and stays out of trouble for an entire season, becomes a solid weapon, one that we count on. We make it to the Super Bowl. The night before the Super Bowl, he does something, anything, somewhere........and the big story on Super Bowl Sunday is "Jermain Burton has been suspended for the Super Bowl by the Bengals", or he straight up gets arrested for something. We'll NEVER be able to trust him. Cut ties now. If he becomes a star for someone else, so be it. Betray our trust once, shame on you. Betray our trust again...shame on us.

There is a reason that the Bengals take guys like Carmen and Burton earlier than any other team. It’s because they don’t have a real scouting department like other NFL teams. You will not convince me that they had a real club just how messed up Burton is mentally. When Nick Saban said basically, don’t draft my player and then you see how Zac Taylor reacted after they submitted the pick. It makes you sick! Taylor simply couldn’t have known how bad this was going to be and that is a failure of the Bengals. What a joke of a franchise!
@pdureska781415 күн бұрын
Yes, their scouting department is below average for the NFL both in quality and numbers. Tobin not really a good GM. He's just a contract guy for Mike Brown masquerading as a GM. We could have gotten a good starting guard with the 3rd rd pick we wasted on this head case. i doubt the scouting department had the fore thought to get a psychological exam on the dude.
@josephschmidt218316 күн бұрын
So they wasted a 2nd round pick on Jackson Carmen and a 3rd round pick on Jermaine Burton. That hurts
@eddiemurphy15Күн бұрын
What hurts is the $2 million they forked over to Burton his first and perhaps only season for 4 catches and 107 yards.

Personality disorders do not have cures. The Bengals cannot ask anyone except a mental health professional, specifically a clinical psychologist, to test and assess him, build a care plan and ensure he meets those objectives along the way. TJ Housh will not be able to help him at all without a mental health professional.
@ironmanxrp498016 күн бұрын
1000% correct! It's very disappointing in this repeated gaslighting of players issues. This one specifically because it's easy to see he has some type of disorder but he can make plays and help us win games... he like football yes but needs the right environment that can actually bring him along... not just with football (it doesn't exclude his personal accountability) but with his background didn't just sneak up on them...
@pdureska781415 күн бұрын
You are correct. Short of putting him on a leash and having handlers do everything for him to keep him out of trouble he's a lost cause. Plus, he's not going to learn the playbook properly. He's not going to put in the work like the other wide receivers to get on the field. I am sure Taylor thought the guy is a "steal" in the third round but its fools gold. He likely would have fallen further and maybe not even been drafted by anyone with his clear mental health issues.

Burton is a 23 year old kid with tons of pressure on him. Don’t get me wrong, he’s throwing these gifts away and it’s disappointing to watch, but we don’t know what Burton is going through and where his head is at. Not saying the Bengals should keep him. He just does not seem ready for the discipline and hard work the NFL requires.

The Bengals were 31st in rushing per play. None of the bottom 8 teams in this metric made the playoffs. They were also tied for 2nd worst for rushing attempts per game. 1 out of the bottom 15 made the playoffs and that was the Texans. The sack attack scheme stinks. A balanced offense would make the oline tremendously better. Being able to grind out games would help the defense.

He's gone. The only reason they would keep him would be if Money pincher Brown didn't want waste a $1 million signing bonus and $1.4 million salary on a player with only 4 receptions. This guy should never have made it thru preseason. And probably was a negative drag on the team the WHOLE year. I remember a couple of those bombs Burrow threw to him where he was open. The pass goes over his head because the CLOWN slowed down and didn't expect the pass to come his way. So a professional team would get rid of him before the next season. But we know Mike Brown....

Why are we even having to discuss this Burton issue? I thought when Zac Taylor was first installed as head coach he said they wanted to bring in and draft guys who were stand up guys with good character (guys who were captains and good locker room guys), from programs that were used to winning. Not draft the kind of guys who would wilt under the pressure. Heck, even when Marvin Lewis was here he didn't waste a draft pick on Burfict as he was an undrafted free agent. So, I'd like to know what changed. Bengals, completely wasted their 3rd round pick. And in my opinion have lost their vision of what kind of a team they are trying to put together.

Galatians 5:22-26 KJV [22] But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, [23] meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
