Hi, I tried installing the 5bolt locker into a R160 from Subaru B3 to replace my R150 on my forester SH (2012). I also replaced the axels of course. Weirdly, one side ratchets freely when I turn left, but when I turn right it locks up! Same behavior in reverse... When I turn right but go in reverse, it ratchets, and when I turn left and go in reverse, it locks up! Any ideas?

94 ZJ here... If i put one of these in my front diff (d30), and run in 2wd, will i feel anything at all aside from a little ratcheting noise? In other words, is it "open" until torque is applied through the pinion gear? Ideally, in my head, i'd have open diff up front until i engage 4-high / low on the transfer case, then it'd pretty much be locked... but I'd really prefer to install one of these instead of the alternatives (locking hubs and welded diff or $1k ox locker).

@banzaiib you are correct, the locker will only lock when torque is applied via the drive shaft/transfer case in 4wd hi and low. Likely you won't hear any ratcheting in 2wd, but if you do it will be slight. Dana 30's are our most popular selling model for the reasons you listed.

But I don't understand how to recognize it if it engaged. The wheels should spin in the same direction ?

Can it hold up too 40’s in a sterling 10.5?Sas obs 97 gmc stock motor snows coming I need to find a locker with good road manners.

@KC-7mm the TORQ Locker has no tire size or HP limits in the 4 year warranty. As far as mechanical lockers go, the TORQ Locker has very good road manners. Most of our customers daily drive their vehicles.

Do the lockers work for a 2wd? Or even better question: the rav4 "4wd" system..

The Rav4 differentials are not suitable for this style of locker. They are cast aluminum and can crack.

​@@TorqMastersIndustries do they work with 4x4 like any regular Locker coz I got a 1992 Dodge Dakota 4x4 and that's open differential front and back and it's almost useless once the frame gets flex
