as a lockpicking beginner i searched and compared for a while before upgrading from my cheap starter set to something advanced - also considering LPLs covert companion - (the loseness of the picks on it was a downer for me - i dont like the pistol grip at all). I finally ended up with this - especially intrigued by the spring mechanism holding everything in place so well. The tools are held up very nicerley, the selection and quality of picks is great - i ended up modifying the deep hock caus it is to long for my taste. the deforest diamond wich a had never used before became one of my favourite pics - great hybrid of a half diamond and short hook. all in all i am very happy with this tool and would absoluteyy recommend it! i hope the will add some extensions in the future - it is very easy to modify, yet very well crafted and robust. the smaller tensioning tool i found a bit useless but i was able to easyley exchnage it with an otherone - so from my experience you can simply fit in two to your liking Thank you LN for working on this and showing it on you channel!

Really like the form factor and the 0.6mm (~0.024") pick thickness. I have a Multipick jackknife, which I really like, but the picks are 0.5mm (0.020") and I've bent a few working on locks that need a bit more force, like masterlocks that have been outside. I also like the two tension tools. I've added a short turner to my multipick (fits under the included pick) for TOK tension and I use it more than the included tool. I'll be picking one of these up.

A very thorough review, and great to see it in use which most reviews barely touch on. This one seems to be the best of the sort with good locking, an excellent selection of tools, and two tensioners instead of one. As you also want, I think replacements blades are needed along with a small range of different profiles such as a ball or snowman for wafer locks. Ticks all the right boxes and kudos to Lockmaster for hearing and using your input and suggestions.

I have many jackknife and pen sets, and each one has its advantages and disadvantages. I find one of the most important features is the option to replace the picks, not only if one is damaged, but also to customize the set to YOUR personal preferences of which picks to include. One of my favorite sets is VERT complete with 12 picks , 6 wipers (3 thicknesses 2 different lengths), and 2 double ended TOK wrenches held on outside by magnets, for a total of 10 tension options. But my absolute favorite is a simple one of a steel handle (I like the weight) press fit together with a pin, I have modified it by choosing my own selection of pics, and made a sort of TOK wiper that fits under the picks when it is closed. I also cut a groove in the thumb screw that holds the picks in place so I can use the wiper tension tool as a lever to tighten it more. I hate plastic. Not a big fan of aluminum either, but I like steel and carbon fiber handles. Also hate belt clips, but with one set, I use the wiper as a screwdriver to remove the clip which I modified into a TOK wrench. Just an idea, they could try implementing that. It also would be easy to offer handles in different materials/colors. Sorry for so long a comment.
@Zieh-Fix2 жыл бұрын
Different materials are hard because of the internal workings of the scales. Possible but expensive to do on a cnc. Other option would be casting which has also a lot of downsides. The last option I thought about would be a 3 part layer system. Like some jack knifes use. But that's not possible because of the tension tool holder at the front
@parapicktog77342 жыл бұрын
@@Zieh-Fix thank you very much for your reply sir! My dislike of plastic is just my personal preference. What is important as I said before, is to offer a selection of replacement picks so a picker can customize their set to their preference in picks, and replace damaged ones. For instance I would replace the offset half diamond in my set for an offset snake rake if one was offered, and would probably wear out the medium hook after a while and need a new one. I might add, that many of your competitors do offer these options.
@Zieh-Fix2 жыл бұрын

I do love their attention to detail, in particular the pick selection and the mechanism. If someone forced me to use a jackknife set and i had to pick one, it'd be this one. At roughly 40€ it's actually pretty affordable too. Wonder if a V2.0 could have some TOK tensioners in the 'scales'? That'd be awesome. Hopefully they’ll come out with replacement or alternative pick tips as while I like some of them I would personally prefer a slightly different selection of tips. I think of a jackknife tool as a basics entry tool and not one of my go-to pick options as such I favor raking over SPP though a short hook or medium hook/deforest isn’t bad as you can SPP out of a false set if you encounter security pins when raking. I like the hybrid half diamond in place of a short hook and would take a ball rake in place of the deep hook, I also use a medium sized half diamond for zipping though you can do that with a hybrid half diamond.

A Tok tension wrench is unfortinatly quite big. an option is magnets on the scale but this might result in loosing the tensioner. However a easy solution would be to offer one sided tension wrenches with a hole big enough for the key loop. This would also be useable for other jackknife sets that come with a loop but would be a messy solution.

@@pepelemoko01 we thought about this. but it would make it either not reversable making the tool harder to operate/takeout when in the left hand pocket or needing a complicated quick release system. But just realised there might be some space for a special tension wrench but it would need to be the long side of a prybarstyle tension tool. and would need to be max. 1.0mm thick and obviously needs some testing to make sure you can't loose it and the odd shape would work fine.

That’s odd, it’s only 57€ to California total.

@@jip3517 we have a special deal with DHL for the USA and you don't need to pay tax on our side. But I will look into the Denmark. Price. This seems wrong.

Just checked as soon as I enter an address in Denmark (used Frederiksberg close to copenhagen as example), the shop tells me a total of 50,77€ with DHL Parcel (not express). 10,16€ TAX (25% for Denmark as we need to charge the Tax of the country we ship to inside europe) and 13,69€ shipping tracked and insured.

I don't think they've solved the tension tool issue. If there was a flat bar too, it would be a no brainer winner.

They need to sort out the spelling mistakes and/or typos and also the link just hangs even if you switch to your own browser

The shipping cost to Australia is €32.30 which is higher than the price of the product itself. 😭
@Zieh-Fix2 жыл бұрын
It's a long way to ship unfortunately... And we currently only ship tracked and insured. We offered a saver shipping before but had delays up to 2 months which resulted in us sending out new tools with express for free... But we are looking for options. Best would be a reseller. My Tipp ask pickpals to get these product in stock 👌

@@Zieh-Fix What are the requirements to be a reseller of your products?
@Zieh-Fix2 жыл бұрын
@@OzTortoise depends the product line. For our new lockpicking products we would mainly want the company to have a webshop and rest we can discuss. 👌

Different locking mechanism. A simple screw mechanism is cheaper to produce. :) In any case what products prices do you consider to high? We are often the ones with the best prices within germany on the main products.

Is there a whale harpoon or broken pick extractor ... other than that looks great love the Lockback Wishbone
@Zieh-Fix2 жыл бұрын
There is a harpoon extractor included in the package that you can put in instead of a pick.

I am usually a compulsive buyer when it comes to lock picking stuff. However, it will be an easy pass on this one. I don’t even understand why they spent time to release a jackknife that doesn’t bring anything new to the table. We already have multiple choices for very similar products. Ok it has a TOK tensioner but come on… We now have tools like the SWICK that comes with 2 TOK bars and 3 good BOK tensioners. To be really innovative, they should have released a jackknife with dimple flags and I can promise I would be placing an order right now. At least, they could have included a flat flag (like the one in the Honest set). It would have been so much better! Anyway, this is disappointing but, to be honest, the product looks great and will be a good alternative to Southord and MP versions.
@Zieh-Fix2 жыл бұрын
Flags would be a easy made. Yet might be uncomfortable to use with a jack knife handle. We will test it though. The tool has a clip and a knife like locking mechanism unlike other commercial tools in that price range. But we plan to offer more pick blades and tools in future. In theory we could even do small runs of profiles on the water jet.
@HingerlAlois2 жыл бұрын
The picks are thicker than for example in the Multipick jackknife, thus I think it’s a good alternative for beginners.

€39.21 and it has cheap plastic handles while the SouthOrd JPXS-6 Jacknife has anodized aluminum handles nearly at the same price..
@Zieh-Fix2 жыл бұрын
Yet is uses a screw to tighten the picks and has less picks and tensioners. Don't get me wrong the Southord pick set is great but a different approch and quite simple to manufacture because you don't need any internal components, springs and more for the mechanism. Cheap Platic handles are relative. These are ABS handles done within an expensive high quality mould. YOu also get a Belt Clip and a spare elemnt should you want it without belt clip. Overall you get more for then the JPXS-6. And 39,21€ is including German VAT. Most websites like Southord show the price excluding VAT. Our price excluding is: 32,95€ JPXS-6 Excluding is now at 43.95USD from southord directly. You might be able to get it for 35 to 40€ if you are lucky and check around.
