I’d suggest deep conditioning locs with “Silicon mix “ Boil a pot of water , add conditioner and locs .. they will get super soft . Worked like a charm

Got mine done 12/17/2021.. started with 6in pencil size and the stiffness is real 😂 I was told to wait to wash mine, but when I shower I let the steam and water hit them. I take water with my hands and try to squeeze the water in my locs staying away from my roots and top of my locs.. They are slowly but surely softening up. Some more than other but I’m starting to love the way they fall.

Hi! Love your videos and energy! I believe that a lot of the reason that some loc extentions are stiff are due to the hair itself. My homegirl cut her locs, that she grew out of her head, after 8 years. I bought them from her (120 locs for $200). Yes, I got a deal deal on them. Anywho, we can say that I have 100% afro human hair. My hair isn't stiff at all and the hair wasn't stiff before the install. My 10 yr old daughter has loc extentions from a lisence stylist and loc tech and the hair came with the install (Yes. $1200... It's a very expensive style). Although I felt it was worth it, the extentions were stiff. Like you said, it takes a few washes for them to soften up. However, they will never truly look like real locs. You know the look those loc extentions have. But, come very close in appearance. I believe they're stiff because the "hair" isn't real hair or not real afro hair to begin with. Honestly, unless you bought them from someone who cut the hair off their head or you saved your shedded hair for years to make loc extentions, one can never honestly know if they've purchased real human hair. 🤷🏽‍♀️

That just answered my question.. I just got some installed yesterday.. my sides and some of my back was shaved and letting the hair grow back looked horrible to me.. so decided on the extensions.. once they were done I didn't know how to feel.. but knowing that they'll eventually loosen up and not be so stiff makes me feel so much better.. maybe once I get a retwist and Style I'll feel a lot better

This video is a bit off. It's not your natural hair that's stiff, it's the extensions. The stiffness will never go away fully no matter what you do because it depends on the type of hair that was used to create and shape the hair that way. The majority of the hair that used to create extensions are stiff. The only way to get extensions that are really going to mimic natural dreads, without the stiffness and itchiness is by buying someone else dreads that were cut off🤷🏾‍♀️

My hairs are as stiff as hell I lock to see someone shaking his or locks. But my locks are just like a carton and stiff. It is 4 weeks now and my hairs are still stiff. But I did the extension with natural human hairs. They advised me not to put any musturizer.

I recently got my extensions TODAY. I got home in the bathtub dunked my head under the hot water and it loosened up. I’m not sure if it will stay softer but I’ll let y’all know

Due to this shut down, I’m able to work from home at my moms house. My job is in mid Georgia but my mom lives in Northeast Ohio. Sooooo glad that I didn’t get an apartment yet, because I just found out that I won’t return to my physical job until at least August 😩😩 I’m saving my money so that when the shutdown is over I can get small/micro loc extensions. I’ve been wanting locs for 4 years now. **Update** I got tired of waiting and started my own microlocs with two strand twists. They look bomb!!

1st let me say I love your videos. I just got my locs install last night and I love them. They're kind of stiff, idk if it's because she bleached them and instead of completely washing them with shampoo, she just washed it with water, and I could still see the bleach whiteness dripping on my skin. I think it's still some bleach residue in there dried up. Can I wash the tips myself? if so what to use? but above all she did an amazing job.

@@angelica69 Hi there, thx for the question. I wash once a week, my locs are about shoulder length. I was told to not play with them too much so they can grow but I keep them hydrated with an oil I use every few days. I use the Jamaican mango and lime shampoo and conditioner (if u get it, get twice as much conditioner bc I find I use more of that on my wash day). Lmk if you have any more questions and I’ll try to answer them for u. Im also learning about what works best for my hair so don’t be afraid to try new products (within reason lol)

@@eddblah Thank you so much! I’ve been loc’d for a little over a month. Mine are shoulder length too. I wasn’t sure if I should be using a conditioner but I’ve been using an oil. Do you retwist after a wash or should I just wash and leave it how it is?

@@angelica69 wash and leave it as it is. Let it dry and restyle it as you wish. I don’t retwist right after I wash, typically I retwist once a month (so far) but it gives your hair time to breathe and grow. As long as u keep it neat (within reason) you’re good. I washed my hair recently and I’m dying for a retwist soon but I want my hair to grow and strengthen before I go again. It’s a journey and a process, as long as you’re in it for the long haul you’re good. It’s amazing the convos you get into with other dread heads about what works and what doesn’t, I love this for us black ppl ❤️

I grew my locs for almost 5yrs. My hair started thinning, so I cut them. My scalp strengthened, but I didn't want to completely start over. I got 10inch extensions installed 3 days ago. They look nice but they are stiff and scratchy like synthetic but are made from human hair. I DID THE HOT WATER & DEEP CONDITION, but once they dry they revert back. Currently they are not as stiff but still scratchy so I am palm rolling in coconut oil. I really wanted them to get as soft as my real locs were guess it will just take time 😪

Cool. Is it ok to wash your hair/loc extensions after one week? Got mines installed and not only is it alil stiff its itchy as crap when it’s on my scalp when I wrap my hair when I go to bed. They say wait 4-6weeks before washing but I’m not sure if I can wait that long lol what’s your opinion?

The stiffness will go away and the washing you may want to just wash your scalp with a rag. I think you DMd and we went over everything but let me know if you have further questions.

I purchased loc extensions because I'm growing out my undercut and my hair is long...my undercut will never catch up to my locs lol. My extensions just arrived and they match my locs well but I'm wondering if I can wash them before installing to help with the stiffness 🤔

Yes wash them, soak them in ACV and cold water. I did it twice before I installed my own.

Boil them on very low heat then wash & shampoo soak in more boil water in sink then detox with baking soda vinegar lemon juice! Then shampoo & conditioner wash now just conditioner soak in hot water wash dry INSTAL !

Boil the water first ! Then add locks only boil on stove for 5 mins & then do the rest ! Each time you need the hot water in the directions make sure it’s boiling hot water every time you soak & wash

Girl 8inch extension to 6 inch hair would be 14inches long. They would be way passed your shoulder not on your chin.
