Hammer was probably thinking during this entire phone conversation, "These guys are going to get the scare of their lives about fifteen minutes from now when my brother Louis's guys surround the place." Perfect example of two "down" white dudes not fully understanding the nuances of a culture they've co-opted as fans. The phrase "Turn this Mutha Out" was taken from an old Parliament/Funkadelic song called "Give Up The Funk." The phrase was chanted during the last 2 minutes of the song. Obviously, 3rd Bass must not have ever heard the song because the song originally came out in 1975. This legendary beef by Hammer and 3rd Bass may unfortunately be the result of a generation gap since Hammer is slightly older. 😒 Also George Clinton and crew intended the word "Mutha" to mean the "stage" or "arena" that his group performed in. The line in the song had nothing to do with anyone's mother in the first place. However, I still believe that 3rd Bass made a pot shot at Hammer's mother because many rappers in 1991 were dissing hammer - Redman made a reference to Hammer's Mama as well.
@trillytrill18527 ай бұрын
@@MrRudyc85if serch understood he wouldn’t be excusing disrespecting the man’s mother to this day. He’d either stand on it or admit his mistake not attempt to intellectualize why he “isnt actually disrespecting his mother” turn this mother out disrespects a general mother not someone’s specific mother and that nuance is clearly being missed on people. Rappers will diss other rappers in a generalized way as a part of bugging themself up, that’s hip hop and we know if a rapper disses a specific rapper by name, then that’s something totally different and opens the door to response/engagement in a totally different way

Have watched the answer videos from both Serch and Hammer on this . IMO it was a play on words but Hammer took it literal plus the guy was a pop rapper and didn't want to have his name disrespected so he apparently put the hit out on them even though he denies it . Then again it's not like he would incriminate himself on the radio and tarnish his career plus i doubt Serch would bring it up being how Traumatic that could be and he wasn't even the 1 who said the line . Heard that Serch and Pete Nice fell out over that situation after the 2nd album . 3RD Bass was a dope group . Hammer was pop all the way , he tried to do the Gangster stuff but it was a flop .

Nope, didn't fall for the weak explanation then and now. Yeah, word play of Hammer's song was used in retaliation, but delivery of context is something else. The lyric was received as its delivery intended. The difference is that because they (specifically Serch) was "I'm from NY" clout throwing and thought that would be the end of it. They weren't expecting the response they got. Louis' (Hammer's brother) reaction was "you fckd around, now come out here so you can find out." It's 2024 and Serch hasn't been back to the Bay Area since then. And if he has, it was covert and quick enough to not be detected.
