For a child to see how parents argue and work ik out is very healthy in my opinion. Children learn how to argue and learn that it is a normal part of life and not weard or stressfull.

I really agree I had a friend that never saw their parents fight and so when they were in a relationship and they were fighting because people fight she like thought that something was wrong with her like that their relationship was doomed because they argued about one little thing they had a disagreement but because their parents never showed her that that’s normal she thought it was like this weird and that you weren’t allowed to fight people who loved each other didn’t fight about stuff.

You have no idea how much I needed this today. I was able to sit and work on some crochet christmas gifts and just contemplate my marriage. The part about disconnect and thanking each other for the things we take for granted hit me today! It's been hard to feel connected recently with being pregnant with our first and being terribly sick. Thank you for your words of wisdom and encouragement. God knew I needed this today!!

I married my HS best friend. Our marriage is very much like yours from the beginning. Was together in HS, split and reconnected 6 years later. Total of 20 year's of pure happiness.... wish so many people would have these kinds of value, there wouldn't be so many failed marriages. One of the biggest reasons I love your channel is because, not only do I like you guys, but you are riiiight ahead of me in your season of life. My husband and I have been married 5 years this month, and are expecting our third child. We also have dealt with mc, we homeschool, we’re Christians, just a lot in common. I fell apart. don’t ask people this question. whether they have kids already or not.

8:34 I believe that if you hide "arguments" from kids it leads them to believe that relationships are easy-breezy things and that people don't have differences in opinion and what that ends up looking like later on in life, especially once they're with their partner. relationships are complex. Now being violent and passive aggressive in arguments in front of kids is different than having an intense discussion of different opinions on a whatever the subject may be. i appreciate these videos and its lovely how loving you two are, it is nice to see a healthy relationship on KZbin that holds good morals/values.

So weird, I was just thinking about the idea of arguing in front of your kids or better put; having conflict/disagreement in front of your kids and how I think it’s really important for them to see it and like you said see it resolved which is the most important part in doing it in front of them. I think it’s important for children to see how conflict should be rightly handled and it’s even a chance to act out repentance and the way of forgiveness.

I think kids need to see that mum and dad do disagree and do argue but that you treat each other with respect even in an argument. Dealing with someone disagreeing with you and how you treat each other when something annoys you or you really don't like something or you just get frustrated and angry. Cause arguments will happen in your kids lives and it's important they know how to be treated and how to treat others while arguing.

In regards to intimacy postpartum, I think it would be helpful to expand on this question in future Q&As by giving examples. Making time for each other and intentional time is something a lot of couples know to do, but don't know HOW to do - do you schedule sex? How do you prepare a distraction free environment physically/mentally? Do you have someone else watch the kids? Those kinds of details would be helpful to other couples who are trying to do the same thing x

I LOVE that you were interested for a while before dating. I married my high school sweetheart too. We went through a similar thing as you. I was engaged at 17 though we didn't marry until 20 and 21 because we were saving money and were bad with finances back then. We've been together 22 years, married 18, had kids when I was 23, 25, and now will birth the third at 39 (I know such a gap). Most of my family members married at 17-21, so no one cared in our family about how old we were while outsiders didn't get it. Love bike rides!! It is fun to do that as a family too. I loved learning about you two. I am pretty new to your channel and am enjoying it. Happy 7 year anniversary!!! You gave great advice!! I agree. . marriage should be at the top and your kids are an extension of your marriage. Our kids love seeing how we are together. It is really important in an age where so many families fall apart. Saw For Today live with my husband and kids when they were smaller haha. So cute. Josh Garrels is great. It is funny because I am Mennonite! I was not raised in it. I started going to a Mennonite church about 9 or 10 years ago now. My husband and I wish we eloped too since we wanted to marry earlier but my mom wouldn't let us elope because she wanted all her friends there (and she knows like 400 people)...

And then there’s me, who is at a more… Modern church where you wear normal clothes just like you guys. So if anyone ever hears that I am a Mennonite, they ask where my horse and buggy is… I always have to correct them that that’s Amish (haha). but people automatically think that I should be looking a different way… Still a Christian, but just interesting thing and I get it😊

I disagree on letting things slide. Many women put SO much pressure on themselves to 'get back to norma' after baby... Do yourself a favour and give yourself time to adapt. Also, disagree that you need to clearly separate married life from family life. Especially with small kids, they will naturally be a part of your life! Also, they will grow up. You will have time without the kids at home. Just appreciate that time and stop trying so hard to get the 'pre-baby' arrangements back at all cost. Let it slide;).
@TailorPribis2 жыл бұрын
You will have time after your kids grow up but you also need an identity after they grow up. You need to have a relationship with your spouse with and without kids. 😊
@Gabrielle.Steele2 жыл бұрын
I think what they mean with the separating marriage and kids is you still need to make your relationship a priority. Because if you don’t hang out don’t talk don’t do all the things to have that relationship then your relationship is going to fall apart. So by time your kids are grown you are already divorced and no longer together. I think they mean they still want to be able to have that connection even with kids in their lives.
@miszk56902 жыл бұрын
@@Gabrielle.Steele But family life is THE major factor that makes you talk about common things and solve problems together and so on. And also, you don't have children to just spend time as a childless couple. And where do you guys get that threat tone of voice "you would be divorced yada yada...". I know plenty of couples who never had the money or the possibility to leave their kids to someone and go on dates, and they worked long hours too, they are now lovely retired couples who cherish the memmories of their youth with their kids and each other. None of them "fought" for their relationship "despite" having kids. Give people some maturity credit.
@Gabrielle.Steele2 жыл бұрын
@@miszk5690 you dont need money or whatever to go do things. Just some time to talk and hang out with your spouse. Sure talking about kids and having that common connection is normal obviously but if you and your spouse never talk then that’s obviously not good.
