most brands of period cups have different shapes and sizes!! i would recommend getting a different size and researching companies a little bit- i know there are a lot who will send youtubers free cups for sponsored videos, and then your viewers could also get a discount code! :)

Yup, really common and they often specifically say that for sizing (when the company has multiple sizes).

Not postpartum, but I've always had issues with my menstrual cup for the first day or so of my cycle. Have you tried reusable pads?? Cup + reusable pad = perfection. I picked up a pack and I wash them with my laundry and it's a game changer for that super heavy day of my cycle! They absorb super well, and I don't find it gross or weird or anything like that (I actually find them much more comfortable than disposable pads). Definitely worth looking into!
@katieshin9694 жыл бұрын
CulpFiction Vlogs this!! I’m also not postpartum, but I’ve been using cup+reusable pads for years and I find them less irritating, and they even help with odour control! I sometimes hand wash them w laundry soap and cold water and it works great. I understand it might seem weird at first, but definitely worth a try :)

If your cup no longer catches everything or has never fully worked then it is not the right size for you body shape. This is VERY common after having kids (most companies sell two sizes because of this). There are online quizzes you can take that will suggest the best fit for you. Also, reusable pads/liners are amazing!

I’m thinking of changing into cup and reusable pads. But what do you do when you’re out and about? What do you do with the used pads? The idea of having a bloody pad in my purse kinda stopes me from doing it 😅

Nicole Ziegler yea not all the time. I’ve had two children and I need to use the smallest size bc I’m a very small woman. I’m 5 foot and about 100lbs. My 12 year old is bigger than I am. I hate that the companies don’t mention that if you’re a tiny woman and have had kids then the bigger size may not work for you. The largest size and the normal size were both so big and uncomfortable. The tween one was perfect for me.

Never used a menstrual cup, but I cloth diaper and honestly cloth pads are the best! You’re already washing cloth diapers, so you just toss the pads in with them. So worth the money, they last forever and they are SO comfortable. I bought mine off of Etsy from MamaMillerSews. She’s so sweet and supporting her Mama business while getting the product I needed is so nice. Highly recommend! They have all kids of sizes. Panty liners all the way up to postpartum pads.

As many people have mentioned you can get different sizes of menstrual cups which may help. Love that you're becoming more conscious of the environment and going on the journey of using less plastic! Instead of throwing away the plastic bags after you use them once, you should try to waste them and reuse them until you can't use them anymore (I realize that can be a hassle but if you can it's a really great option!). I've never had kids but you could look into the brand She Thinx for some underwear that are specifically for periods. I haven't tried them but I want to so bad so let us know if you try them and if you like them! A reusable pad also works great! Love what you're doing!!

Some of the period cups have different sizes depending on if you have delivered a baby vaginally or not. I upgraded to the post vaginal delivery cup and it made a big difference! The other one felt like it was falling out 🤦🏻♀️ I also use reusable fabric pantiliners almost daily, especially while I’m pregnant. If I leaked around the menstrual cup I would use one with that as well. If you don’t have a problem washing poopy cloth diapers, you shouldn’t have a problem washing menstrual blood! For your menstrual cup problem: you probably need a bigger size or a completely different shape now. They make cups that are more bowl shaped than bullet shaped which may work better for you. My other suggestion (which you also brought up) was to use cloth pads/liners or period underwear to catch leaks if you don't want to buy a new cup.

For your menstrual cup problem are you using a postpartum specific cup? If not give that a try. There are lots of brands available online

My menstrual cup that I used before having my daughter was the small Lena Sensitive, but after having her it would leak and just not stay in right. I messaged the company and they sent me a size large in the same cup for free! Works 100 times better for me! Also since I cloth diaper my daughter I decided why not get cloth menstrual pads for myself?? It’s not that much more gross lol. I LOVE them! Sounds gross but it’s cheaper and way better for the environment.

I've never given birth, but here's my hot tips on reusable menstrual products. First, I'd check and see if the cup you use is from a brand that offers a different size. Some offer different sizes based on your flow, your age, whether you've given birth or not, etc. Second, period panties or reusable cloth panty liners are the way to go! I use a menstrual cup for my heaviest flow days on my period, but I never fully trust it so just in case I always wear a reusable cloth pad with it, too.

Fabric panty liners or pads (AKA Mama Cloth!) are a great option! I have always used tampons, but since after birth I've been on the Mirena so no periods for me. The idea of Mama Cloth used to freak me out a little, but I swish my cloth diapers in the toilet 🤣 not much can get any grosser than that!! Good luck, and your house looks great ♡
