Loving the guy with the chainsaw trimming the ends off, with his mate underneath holding onto the offcut while he's cutting and with no edge protection. I can see how you get these things built so quickly now. Hope your employees appreciate your commitment to health and safety in the workplace.
@tepidbudgie2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't consider what he's doing to be anymore dangerous than just simply working in the trade itself. A good worker knows how to support the offcut material without binding the cutters blade.

Great video. I blinked and missed you fitting the ridge steel which would be interesting. How do you choose Ply vs OSB
@roccoconte29602 жыл бұрын
i never use osb on a roof always fir plywood five eights.
@johncoppock38232 жыл бұрын
@@roccoconte2960 What's your reason please Rocco. Is the ply better quality? And/or more waterproof. That said I've bought lots of poor quality ply recently (ok for my application tho)
@resmond2 жыл бұрын
@@johncoppock3823 wax face of osb is more water resistant then ply over time, but the cut edge of osb swells up as soon as it gets wet, so for a roof that might be exposed for a week or two max ply is probably better, especially for any roof that isnt felt, where you want a totally flat surface

That’s the times consuming part fitting the ridge beam and bolting the wood! Apart from that great video

For all the people bitching about the chain saw don’t knock it until you tried it . The idea of reaching over with a skillsaw works but sucks. The ability to stand up and reach with a chain saw is way better and probably safer.

I thought there always some kind of steel beam need to be used for building regulations. Quite surprised by how two initial wooden posts took all that weight.
@barnetloftco Жыл бұрын
Hi, there is a steel ridge beam as designed by structural engineer. Head beam above dormer windows is supported by 3x double posts during construction.

The scale of these builds and the skill used is very impressive but do you ever get any aggro from the neighbours unhappy about the works?

Looks like you went above existing roof height(ok if client knows) and missed cross ventilation between flat roof rafters ( long term issue ,,condensation’’ ) but video nice cut
@resmond2 жыл бұрын
Can't x-ventilate when they're tight to the dormer next door, usually would use mushrooms, but that's probably why they've sat on the ridge

I’m thinking they Should have raised the ceiling joist and then nailed the untreated sleepers on the bottom of the joist instead of the top. Any moisture or sweating will happen between the plywood and the joist at the top that way they treated part would be the only part wet .The plywood decking dose look superior in Quality nice job .
